I really liked the atmosphere in this place in Volterra. The parmigiana was just right and the service really good.

Comida excelente - Edit

Great service, bland food - Edit
Life Bistrot is really nice, very friendly owners, located in a beautiful street, a cozy place. The food is full vegan and good looking on the plate but not so tasty. We had a pici, pizza, gnocchi and a chestnut roll. The roll was kind if empty inside so I can’t tell was it is. Pizza was like a biscuit. Pici was rather better but like gnocchi something was amiss.

Cute and cozy - Edit
Life bistrot is a very cuty and cozy vegan place with an unique menu. We had the chestnut role, aubergine parmigiana and chef’s cutting board and the tiramisu. All were very lovely, although sometimes a bit cold. Life bistrot is also a little more expensive than other vegan places we’ve tried in the area. It was good, however not the best ever.

Very friendly owner and staff, food always fantastic, with Etruscan and Roman structures visible under the glass floor. This is our third visit and it is reliably great.

Top in Italy - Edit
Without a doubt, Life Bistrot is among the top vegan restaurants in Italy (and in Europe!). My wife and I had dinner there and also lunch the day after, in order to try as many items of the menu as possible. Every dish is top notch, made with fresh organic ingredients, very tasty, presented extremely well, and even balanced from a nutritional point of view. The owner is a fantastic person and always willing to explain all the dishes and even the history of thr restaurant and the associated hotel in town. Personally I would particularly recommend the pici (especially if you like pepper), the seitan which is otherworldly, and the melanzana "alla parmigiana", but make sure you don't miss the desserts! If I could give this place 6 stars out of 5, I would. I hope I'll be back soon!

Tasty, cosy and extraordinary - Edit
This restaurant is wonderful. It's located in a beautiful and quiet street in the city center and has a very nice terrace to sit outside (and a surprising archaeological floor inside). The service was very friendly and helpful and the food was extraordinary and very tasty! We absolutely enjoyed our meal.

One of the best vegan meals I've every had! - Edit
Fabulous venue with a glass floor over Etruscan and Roman ruins, a delightfully welcoming owner and incredible food! The Eggplant "Parmesan" was easily one of the best dishes I have ever been served in my 20+ years eating vegan. A delicious spicy (by Italian standards) lentil dish and pici pasta with an almond cream sauce were also quite delicious.

Very diverse menu and beautiful pizzas! - Edit
We went to Life Bistrot for lunch and were pleasantly surprised by the experience. The menu is reasonably sized (4 starters, 4 first courses, 4 mains, 5 pizzas & 4 desserts), but boasts great variety. All dishes were served with attention to detail and looked great.
Read moreFrom the starters we liked the tomato soup; the chestnut flour roll was a bit bland and below our expectations, but not bad by any means. The aubergine parmigiana was super tasty and the fried vegetables in chickpea batter really interesting.
Our highlight were the beautiful pizzas. Although they were noticeably a bit different from traditional pizzas (not just visually - maybe a different flour for the dough?), they were excellent. We can definitely recommend the two we tasted: the “Life Verde” with a peas cream base (no tomato sauce) as well as the “Life Chef” with onions, capers and chili.
For dessert we had the crostata (average crust, but tasty thick jam), the hot orange, carrot and almond pie (unremarkable sponge cake, but excellent syrup) and the hot chocolate pie with coconut and apple (very dark chocolate taste and more coconut than apple).
The service was very dynamic (a bit too much at times), but very friendly overall. The place has both a very pretty indoor setting as well as a nice and cosy terrace.
Pros: Very diverse menu, special pizzas, Nice setting inside and outside , Friendly service

Amazing food and lovely ambiance - Edit
The restaurant is located in a beautiful alley of Volterra, right next to the main square. You will have 4 choices of appetisers, 4 pastas, 4 main courses, 4 desserts and about 6 pizzas. We had the pici cauliflower and pepper (they tasted nothing like cauliflower and absolutely the same as a cacio e pepe) and the tagliatelle chard and pistachio. Both were absolutely amazing. We then had the mixed fry and it was heavenly! Loved the place! Not too expensive either to be honest ✨️

Had to wait quite long, but luckily the food was very delicious. If you don’t order a pizza, it can be quite expensive, because just a main course would have not been enough.

We happened upon Life Bistrot when visiting Volterra for the day and what an amazing chance. We got the zucchini soup, handmade gnocchi, melon risotto, and tiramisu- wow! I wish I was a gnocchi so I could swim in the sauce. If we were staying closer, I could happily eat here every day, tasting my way through the whole menu.
