Glorious Hole in the wall - Edit
Awesome find! My vegetarian and carnist friends loved it too!
Read moreAlso, we were able to sit down at the International and grab drinks during our meal and while we waited for food.
Was just one guy running the show at Lick It Up but he was patient and made some spectacular food. Can’t wait to go back!
I almost didn’t even go because without a phone number I was worried that it may be closed due to COVID-19

Pros: 100% vegan, Affordable , Variety of flavors
Cons: Fríes carne asada are salty , Takeout only — can sit at the International tho, No phone number

Great options! - Edit
Loved this place, tucked away in a bar in downtown. We had flautas, asada fries, and tacos. Everything was pretty delicious! *Some have noted that the food is salty, but we only noticed the asada being salty. Overall, a must try!

Flautas 🤤😋 - Edit
Flautas (3) FRESH: Cabbage, crema, coriander vinagrette, avocado sauce, tomatoes. NACHO: Vegan queso, crema, red salsa, tomatoes. And, brussel sprouts. I ate them so fast, didn't get a picture. But, they were delicious, also.

Nope - Edit
Not at all customizable, the Adobada and Carne Asada are incredibly salty and I have no idea what the nacho cheese tastes like, but inedible for our family. Drinks options are only mexican fruit sodas, not even water. Sorry I spent the money.

Tacos! - Edit
The tacos are all good and it's so nice to have multiple choices! Also the brussel sprouts side was amazing. Seems like a cool place to hang when the restaurant's open to indoor seating again.

Subpar - Edit
We were not over the moon about our experience at Lick it Up. Maybe we ordered the wrong thing, but our burritos were nothing special. Also, this was not a WFPB vegan friendly spot... the food was very greasy, which was expected considering it is a “street style” restaurant. The location itself was also really difficult to find, as it is tucked away in the back corner of another restaurant/bar.

Amazing, once you find it - Edit
Yo... if you're thinking about it, stop thinking and go now. You'll thank me later.
Read moreThe area around the block seemed pretty closed down/under construction and the sign for the bar isnt very big but it's there and it's worth it. Look for the bar International with the garage door windows and it's the kitchen in the back of the bar.

All Vegan Mexican Food?! - Edit
My fiancé and I stopped by this place in our way through El Paso and we are so glad we did! We ordered five carne street tacos, a Milanesa torta, and the carne asada quesadillas, all of which blew our minds. It was seriously the best vegan Mexican food we have ever had! Their version of guacamole is a bit different (think of it more as a guacatillo) and the margaritas lacked alcohol, but everything else was stellar. We don’t usually like vegan cheese and tend to avoid it, but theirs was so yummy it made us forget it was vegan. The best part (aside from the delicious food) is that they even let dogs inside of the restaurant! This was a nice change from what we are used to and so welcome, since we have been on the road with our dog for nearly a month. Definitely recommend and we will be back next time we are in El Paso.

Milanesa torta is super good! - Edit
They have lots of options and food is very good. Authentic Mexican vegan food. Flautas, tortas, nachos, burritos, etc. They seriously need to work on their salsas, they’re really bland and the toreados are always over grilled.

Wow! Amazing Vegan Mexican Street Food - Edit
It is located in the patio of Monarch Bar (be careful there are two bars with the same name). It was around 6:00pm on a Saturday in late February. Street parking was ample and we were able to park right in front of the door. We've been several times since and never had an issue with parking.
Read moreWe called in our order ahead of time because most of the negative reviews were either for price or slow service.
The owner was kind enough to bend the rules for us and allow us to get a variety of tacos and gorditas (rather than just one type of protein) for an added $2.00/order. He seemed hesitant to do this but we are very happy he allowed us to do so.
The sauces were clearly fresh and really delicious. We both liked the verde salsa better, it had an amazing depth of flavor. Both had a little spice.
Tacos: $8.25 for 5 tacos (we paid $10.25 for a variety of proteins)
*we were given corn tortillas
Adobaba: Nice smoky flavor with a little spice, the pineapples created a delicious contrast (3rd favorite protein)
Mushroom Chorizo: okay flavor, mushrooms were a bit chewy, but not a bad option (4th favorite protein)
Seitan 'Steak': Wow, really amazed at the amount of flavor for such a simple taco (1st / favorite protein)
Seitan 'Milanesa': Really flavorful as well and had a unique texture (a bit chewy) (2nd favorite protein)
Gorditas: $9.75 for 3 gorditas (we paid $11.75 for a variety of proteins)
*tasted like fried corn meal batter
*did not try jackfruit de verde, unsure if still available
Adobada: good smoky flavor with a bit of spice, we didn't like it as well without the pineapple (2nd favorite protein)
Mushroom Chorizo: Nice flavor, a bit chewy (least favorite protien)
Seitan 'Steak': Great flavor (1st / favorite protein)
Seitan 'Steak' Quesadilla: $9.75
The vegan cheese had a great texture but it was so salty, I couldn't eat a full order. Due to this I probably wouldn't order this again, but if the cheese was less salty it would probably be my favorite.
Seitan 'Steak' Nachos: $9.75
A little underwhelmed by the Nachos. They weren't bad, just not as good as other dishes we've had from here. (look up La Ruda Chilaquileria, their chilaquiles hit the spot for us)
Seitan 'Steak' Torta: $9.75
This had a really nice flavor. The dipping sauce also had a nice flavor. Another reviewer stated the Seitan Milanesa was delicious, we'd be interested in trying it.
Fresh Flautas: $9.75
Lacked flavor. We wished there was an option to add some vegan meat. It is listed as 'beef' but as you can see from the photos, the ones we ordered didn't seem to have any. We wouldn't order this again and I don't know if we'd order the nacho as the filling will be the same.
Chips and Queso: $4.00
Not too spicy, decent flavor. We liked them better than One Grub Community's (OGC) vegan queso. Try both.
Chips and Guacamole: $4.00
Do not recommend. It was more of an avocado sauce rather than guacamole.
Pricing: A lot of people criticize the pricing but we felt it was fair. We had dinner for about $20/2 people and we were full. We travel a lot and that is a lot less than an average meal, especially for a vegan restaurant. We've noticed food is very cheap in El Paso, which I think fuels criticism on the price.
Service: We didn't have an issue with slow service, but there were literally no other customers. The owner often seems a bit short, other times he is friendly. We have met another staff member who is very friendly. Never really had an issue with service, people have different personalities and we don't expect everyone to always be in a good mood.
Everything was amazing. We've had vegan Mexican food similar to this style before, but this was better. Well done, even down to the sauces, clearly had been made from scratch. Thank you for making an exception and allowing us to try several protiens for a fee. We definitely know our favorites for future visits.
Our favorite proteins were the seitan 'steak' and seitan 'milanesa'.
Please add Mexican Street Corn!
The owner advised us that they will be trying to move to a more permanent venue soon, super excited!
*owner said they were open until midnight tonight (Saturday), call for updated hours.
Pros: Amazing Mexican Street Food, Decent Price, Several Options, Good Variety

TOO PRICEY, VERY GOOD MEXICAN VEGAN TORTAS! - Edit
I've gone a total of 3 times and its like treating my self because its really expensive!! for a torta of milanesa, the bread is to die for, the milanesa is so delicious, i hate that there's cabbage? its a mexican tradition to serve tortas with lettuce and i personally find it the best like that. They also put vegan mayo tomato and avocado sauce. I HATE that they only put very little sauce and ONE TOMATO! for the price i think its really unfair. GREAT FOOD but i would'nt go as often as i'd like because of those downfalls. It should include 2 or three tomato slices, just like they are advertised.

Awesome Mexican street food! - Edit
I was overwhelmed by all the options! Heard good things about the milanesa but they didn't have it prepped for the day yet. Settled for the flautas and they were delish! I'm very excited to try it again on my next visit to El Paso. It is in the patio of a bar and the service for drinks inside the bar was not the best. They made us feel unwelcome. But the food truck employee was very courteous and sweet!
