We had a personal date to celebrate in family, so we organised with time and made a reservation at Lemoncello’s in the Esplanade, we specifically booked an inside table to enjoy quietly.
When we arrived at the restaurant a set of mishaps started, and they did not finish till we left the restaurant, very disappointed by way.
The restaurant did not have many people, so they decided to change our specifically asked inside table to an outdoor table, not what we wanted nor requested. We let it go, as we try to be comprehensive and easy going.
One of the members of the group of five, approached the bar to check what drinks were available, at that moment in a very rude manner the person at the bar, told this person that he should be seated as it was a table service restaurant, later on , we were informed that this person is the owner, or the owners wife, nonetheless, a bit later when the waitress took the drinks order, my friend asked about rum options….. yes, you can lough, the waitress told him, that he needed to go and check at the bar…….
The waitress was talking in a very loud and rude voice to us.
We ordered the drinks and some starters all together while check the menu for the mains. When the drinks arrived, I asked the waitress in a correct way, and only to check, if the entrées would be coming soon. Her answer “I already order them” … in loud and rude voice. Entrées came after a few minutes, and that was fine, but by this moment we were all a bit annoyed by the attitude of this person, once again we let it go, we were trying to have a good night.
When we finished the entrées, another waitress came and took the plates away, but she left behind cutlery and serviettes, we were fine with this, however when the main waitress came with the mains, she in a very rude way, again, started to move our cutlery and serviettes to the side of the table in a clear way that she was disappointed with the other person….
We ordered five mains, a Pepperoni Pizza, that was fine, some Ravioli that was fine as well, a plate of Risotto Al Funghi, the fungi were inexistent, and the Risotto had no flavour whatsoever, we also ordered Spaghetti Bolognese, the taste was good, but we were surprised when we found 2 Gnocchi on the Spaghetti dish? I wonder how the manage the kitchen to made such a mistake, but the worst was yet to come, the fifth dish was a Rib Eye Fillet, it was so bad , that 3 people on the table tasted to check it was that bad,
Biggest and tastiest bowl of pasta I’ve had since being in Cairns. And I’m a pasta freak. So I feel like I can’t make bold statements like that😄
The restaurant doesn’t really cater or advertise to vegans. But there are two vegan pastas on the menu. Cheese comes separately. We modified our pastas easily and added mushrooms and onions.
Also …. Huge portions for a good price. Our pastas were $18 each.
We didn’t ask about pizzas. They might have vegan cheese. Not sure.
