Warning - They Served Me Meat - Edit

I'm writing this review in hopes that this doesn't happen to other people:

My husband and I have been vegan for nearly 9 years. We were attending an Arabic wedding that had no vegan entrée. We were excited to order delivery from Lemon Zest's vegan menu for our wedding meal. I was most excited to try their vegan lamb kabob. My husband called beforehand and confirmed that their vegan lamb is made from pea protein.

When I started eating my food at the wedding, I could tell that something was off. The venue was dark and loud so it was difficult to see what the "vegan" lamb looked like. I checked the receipt several times to confirm that it clearly said "vegan". I know vegan products have come a long way in imitating animal flesh so I wasn't sure if it was in my head. I was too uncomfortable to eat the rest of the meal.

The next day, under proper lighting, I was able to fully inspect it. My husband and I agreed that we're pretty certain that they served me meat by accident. Horrified and grossed out that I had eaten a baby sheep, my husband called the restaurant and spoke to their manager. Luckily, the person was friendly, understanding, and apologetic. They realized that their order system poorly labeled my meal and they had served me the non-vegan lamb instead. They refunded us and said that they would fix the issue for the future. I hope that's the case.

I love and I want to support non-vegan restaurants with vegan options/menus. They just need to be more careful when serving their vegan customers. If you order from them, it might be helpful to write "THIS MEAL IS VEGAN" in the order instructions and double check it before you eat it.
