We stopped overnight at Le Sanglier Hirsute and right away wished desperately that we had a week instead. First of all, the food (we had the fully vegan table d’hôtes) is incredible. On either side of this stay we were in San Sebastián and Paris (both famous for their food of course, and we do our research on restaurants) and this was the best meal of the trip hands down. Each dish was fresh and delicious, highlighting local ingredients that Valérie thoughtfully explained. The food on its own was already the best, but also the presentation was so beautiful, the timing was perfect (how does she do it with only one person!?), and the dining room was so cozy and airy with the window opening onto a stream (I gather there is also outdoor seating in slightly warmer weather). Our stay was also extremely comfortable and cozy, and the village of Mezieres-en-Brenne as well as the surrounding wildlife preserves are gorgeous. We did not have time to take a cooking class but having met Valérie it would no doubt be great. All-in-all, it was a really peak experience and one that we are keen to repeat as soon as possible!
