Our family had a great meal at Le Corail tonight. Very small place but big menu. The best food we had in Morocco. The owner and his wife are very nice and helpful. Almost everything was vegan. My son is celiac, but he had lots of options that was gluten free. We are going back tomorrow!

The best vegan restaurant I have been to so far, the service is so warm and the food is super tasty, one can pick any random meal from the menu and I guarantee it will taste insanely amazing because it is made with so much care and love.

Located in a square that is full of vegan restaurants (you need to find this area right away - this definitely "vegan central" within the medina), this one is great. I had an interesting dish of potato fritters and chickpeas, and it was really good. Juices were fantastic as well, and the people were really nice. I showed up during the mid-afternoon, a time when most restaurants are closed, and they were really welcoming and kind.

We were a bit weary at first as we were the only ones in the restaurant and the decor is a bit garish - but the food is amazing.
The husband and wife duo who run front of house and cook are great. So lovely and you can tell how passionate they are.
100% recommend Le Corail - it was our best meal in Essaouira.

We were three days in Essaouira and every day for our lunch we went to this little place. It is very easy to find. There is a wide selection of vegan tajines (51 if I remember correctly) and their vegan burgers are very tasty.

Perle rare, au milieu de la médina d’Essaouira, avec des dizaines de tagines veganes préparées à la demande, ainsi que beaucoup d’autres options (burgers, rouleaux de printemps,...) le tout cuisiné à partir d’ingrédients frais et un excellent assaisonnement qui donnent une vraie profondeur aux plats. Une cuisine du terroir, de « grand mère », simple et décomplexée, mais tellement efficace et satisfaisante qu’on y retourne encore et encore. Vivement conseillé !

We had only one dinner there and we took two different menu's option.The food was good but also really simple,even if I like simple recipes I think was a bit too simple for example one of the menu was 1) tomato salade ( one single tomato with some parsley) 2) chickpeas tajine ( literally just some chickpeas into the tajine pot ) 3) orange with cinnamon ( 4slices of orange with some cinnamon powder). Everything was tasty but considering that in Morocco the cost of the ingredients is max 5 dirham and the menu cost 70 (more less 7eu),and more than all is listed as the best veg restaurant worldwide I think honestly is overrated. I would fullfil my stomach with a bigger salade something added to the tajine ( couple of potatoes??) And a real flan .

Essaouira’s best vegan eatery - Edit
Stumbled upon Le Corail completely by accident whilst on a day trip to Essaouira. With no internet for HappyCow (boo!) my partner and I wandered the streets just checking out menus and locals plates until we turned a corner onto a little food court and beckoning us over was this place.
Read moreWe went for the tagine and apple juice deal at 45dh which was a tasty decision. The food was served promptly (free bread and nibbles prior) and on par with my favourite eatery in Marrakech, served sizzling just the way it should be. This was definitely what I would call a ‘lighter’ tagine - somehow, despite occupying the same space as others, it has more veg crammed into it and yet whilst filling definitely left me with room for a little something extra afterwards so make sure to order a side too which we didn’t. And you will have plenty to choose from with an extensive list of vegan options (a whole menu with dozens of types of tagine alone). It’s a shame we didn’t get to explore this menu more but it gives us a reason to go back some day.
The venue has indoor and outdoor seating (early morning, outdoor is quite quiet and you can sit and watch cats roaming past) and the staff were super nice, even giving us a couple of bracelets as a parting gift. If you only visit one place in Essaouira, this has to be it.

Once we found this little gem of a restaurant, we knew we found home! Tucked away in a peaceful square with other shops and restaurants around, this was the best find of our stay!
Read moreThere were so many vegetarian (or vegan) options that it was truly difficult to decide. That is one of the reasons that we returned a second time as there were other dishes that we wanted to try.
There is no alcohol here, but that is truly the only negative to this place. If you are in Essaouira and you wish to eat healthy and healthful foods, this is the place!
