Great Vegan Choice! - Edit
Can’t give 5 stars because it’s not vully vegan, don’t let that fool you. This place is great! The strip mall is clean, there is covered outdoor and inside seating choices, and many menu choices for all eaters! A must try!

Quick and easy - Edit
Laughing Planet has lots of clearly marked vegan options and is willing and able to modify other menu items to make them vegan. All their salad dressings are vegan (including a vegan caesar and an oil-free garlic tahini) and they have tofu, tempeh, and vegan cheese. It's a good spot for a quick, healthy, and satisfying bite. They have multiple locations around Portland which I have made use of many times when out and about with people who are resistant to going to an all-vegan restaurant (and also when I'm by myself).
Read moreI like the Thai bowl (tofu, green beans, broccoli, rice, cilantro-lime slaw, Thai peanut sauce), the tempeh royale burrito (rice, beans, tempeh, kale, guac), and the kale caesar.
Pros: Serves tofu, tempeh, vegan cheese, Menu clearly labeled

Amazing Local Veggie friendly Chain - Edit
I loved Laughing Planet before I was vegan and now that I am fully-vegan, it's amazing to live so close to it. They always have amazing and healthy food. There's nothing on the menu that I feel guilty about eating, and it's all super yummy. The kids food is even healthy and yummy, and approved by my 3 year old. Disappointed to see negative reviews here from what look to be people upset about their bill/portion size. Not my experience at all.

Impressively rude - Edit
I stopped coming here a few years ago because the food wasn't good enough to warrant the price, but after seeing how rude the staff was today, and after they were 15 minutes late on the order and refused to come out and tell me when it was ready, I won't be back again.

Rude staff and terrible changes. - Edit
I have been paying to eat your food for 10 years and recently got a tiny little cup of guacamole with half a bag of chips for $6.50. That normally gets me TWICE the amount. Thinking they got the size wrong I called to get it corrected, only to be told in a completely condescending tone that it is the NEW large size. So basically you are completely ripping me off half of what you normally provide. NEVER ordering here again. Stop ripping off loyal customers and get staff that are polite.

Has potential - Run of the mill food. - Edit
This place shows a great effort with their branding and restaurant design and layout. Menu's mention "Vegan" in many areas and it's respected from the staff. Big relief from Veggie Grill. Take-out menu looks great on paper, water bar and seating is very decent. Unfortunately the food will always make-or-break a restaurant regardless of how ugly it is every-time (Like Proper Eats for example). The veggie tacos were very bland and ran thin to say the least, nice touch with the green sauce but it's not enough to be a hit. The burrito bowel with tofu was nothing to be exited about, everything is covered with black beans with a little glimpse of rice on the side. We actually had to order a 2nd order of rice - which is usually the base of a bowel. Small chucks of tofu hidden under some shredded lettuce. As for flavor… grab the salt shaker you'll need it. Laughing Planet needs to seriously focus more on their recipes and food and less on "staying busy". Try new dishes, try new chefs, taste their own food and get more clues from other restaurants that are know for their wonderful food. Overall, you are honestly better off going to Chipotle as you wont find any hearty portions here.

Yummy, healthy food here! - Edit
This is a great option in Hillsdale, just beyond Gabriel Park. Large and very clean location, lots of parking, parking right by the door for order pickup (10 min. max). There's also a waiting area with lots of newspapers to read while you wait. The staff are friendly and efficient. Note that this location does not do fresh juice. I ordered the soup and salad combination with a side of plantains. The soup comes with a side of housemade focaccia or tortilla chips. My soup was a potato corn chowder, and it was light and delicious, as was the focaccia. My caeser salad, ordered vegan, actually arrived with cheese. The dressing and croutons were delicious, however. The staff apologized for the order and will give me a free burrito the next time I go there. The plantains weren't wonderful, but that was probably just because I was expecting crispy charred plantains, and these were just sauteed. All in all, they have a great healthy menu and I will be very happy to go back!
