Traditional Austrian food- made vegan! - Edit
This place is incredible. Great traditional Gasthaus vibes, we ate outside as it was sunny but it looked very cosy inside. We had the seitan steak with redwine sauce, and the seitan schnitzel. The steak had a great texture and the sauce was delicious, although it was quite salty. The schnitzel was perfect and even came with a vegan tartar sauce. For desert we had an apricot dumpling which was just how I remember it before I went vegan. Not as cheap as other places but so worth it. They have a huge menu and lots of homemade drinks.

Solide Hausmannskost - Edit

Schnitzel! - Edit
We really wanted to try schnitzel while in Austria. This was pretty good. My husband had celeriac schnitzel, I had seitan, both good (not excellent, but certainly enjoyable). Potatoes were great.

Best vegan cheese sticks - Edit
Landia offers traditional austrian food - but vegan. It's not really healthy (because many meals are fried) but really tasty 😋

One of our go to restaurants - Edit
Vegetarian restaurant with a lot of vegan options. They probably have the best vegan Schnitzel in town but the Landia Cordon Bleu is even better. Nice staff and reasonable prices.

Amazing! Delicious cordon bleu, schnitzel - Edit
I really recommend the cordon bleu (i got the cheaper one that costs ~13 eur). Big portion and it comes with baked potatoes and a delicious sauce. I even recommend getting an extra of that sauce. The cheese from the cordon bleu i thought it was cow cheese but it was vegan. It is stretchy and firm at the same time. Amazing!
Read moreSeitan Schnitzel also very good.
Pierogi (polish) tastes like typical pierogi, nothing out of the ordinary but i dont like sour so much, so..
Nice staff and a lovely dog also belongs to the bar😄
Pros: Delicious, Ok price, Big portions
Cons: Only cash at the time i went. Atm 50m away tho

Amazing Food, the rest ok - Edit
The food was absolutely amazing, big servings, everything available in vegan and also vegan cakes. The waitress was a little bit slow and clumsy. After eating there our clothes smelled a lot like the food and you can only pay cash.

Old-school veg place - Edit
Landia is an “oldie but goodie”. It reminds me of vegetarian places before there were really any vegetarian places. Old-school, unpretentious, nothing fancy. Here they have vegan/vegetarian versions of Austrian dishes. All pretty good. One con: I left the place smelling like a fried onion. Even my backpack smelled like it a day later.

Austrian food veganised - Edit
Landia has an ambience full of character, it's held in this old-fashioned style that is so typical of Vienna.
Read moreEating there already many years ago, I remember they had big portions for little money, classical Austrian food made vegan and were Polish-run. Basically it's still just that, it doesn't seem to have changed at all. Since they are Polish-run the couple of Polish dishes are no surprise.
Huge menu, but many dishes are only variations with couple of ingredients, it's not like every dish is entirely different.
The waitress' enthusiasm for her job has long gone, she has become something like part of the interior that won't ever be replaced - which is a good thing as well: one know what to expect and it adds character to the whole experience at Landia's.
Taste-wise the food is totally fine, nothing special though. It's nice to see certain Austrian dishes veganised.
Overall good value for the money. I appreciate proper inexpensive food.
Probably the most likable detail is that they only accept cash, no cards whatsoever.

Traditional Austrian dishes made vegan or veggie - Edit
Food was plenty and good! And not expensive (€9-€14 for a main course).
Read moreMany vegan and veggie versions of traditional dishes.
The place is divided into two spaces, left is not very cozy, right looked cozier.
The staff wasn't very welcoming, but I'm guessing this is because it was quite busy and I don't speak German very well so I might have misinterpreted.
Pros: Many vegan or veggie options of traditional dishes, Large choice in vegan pies, A lot of food for little money!
Cons: It can be a little cold because of Covid measures, Staff isn't super friendly because very busy , Not very cozy on the left side

Unfortunately not what I expected. - Edit
This place felt weird from beginning. No ambience and no welcoming feeling. Food was pretty bad reheated and definitely not fresh or made with love, fatty and not seasoned . Had higher hopes .

it was good, but not GOOD - Edit
I got the fried mushrooms with potatoes. The sauce was really tasty, but the mushrooms were tasting like nothing really. Also I had a homemade lemonade, which was really good (but also not cheap).

All in all: drinks awesome but pricy, food mediocre. I'd definitely try again when I'm back in Vienna because there are so many good reviews but this time it wasn't satisfying.

Cons: pricy

Not worth it - Edit
Everyone was raving about this place so I had high expectations. There was barely any place to sit, there was only one waitress working with the whole restaurant full. Everything took a really long time, and the schnitzel was flavorless and looked like something you would buy frozen at the supermarket. The only thing that was good were the potatoes.

Excellent - Edit
I eat here last year (2020) but really wanted to write a review as the place was excellent. It was great to be able to have traditional Austrian food made vegan. The portions were large and the food really really good. Highly recommended, especially if you've never had traditional Austrian food, or you love hearty food in general.

Disappointing service - Edit
Regardless of food - visiting Landia was such an irritating experience. When the waitress came to get our order, it occurred she didn’t speak English which was not an issue per se - but the issue was that instead of taking our full order she almost ran away from us not allowing us to complete. We’ve heard she passed the wrong dish names to the cooker what caused me to go inside and fix everything up.
Read moreThe dishes were quite big but the taste was a bit flat (we ordered seitan steak and seitan schnitzel). After we finished it didn’t seem the waitress was interested in talking or coming to us at all – she was smoking a few meters away. I went to ask about the bill so she pulled out the small calculator from her wallet and after asking the cooker what we have ordered she used that device to show us the price. I didn’t get any receipt as I handed over the cash – she thanked me without returning the change. It was a small sum and I was already annoyed so I gave up. It was not possible to pay with a card what might have let us avoid being kind of cheated by giving us neither receipt nor change.
Pros: Large dishes
Cons: Unfriendly service, No English-speaking waiters
