Nice pastries but...no hours advertised and rude staff - Edit
I chose this place because my partner has a very sweet tooth and because the location was convenient as is just 10 min walk from the Gare du Nord.
Read moreWe arrived at 3 pm, we entered, I smiled and we started discussing between ourselves about what to order. The woman at the counter looked at me as I had killed her cat... almost disgusted or annoyed. Then she ignored us. After 5 minutes when we were ready to order she just said "kitchen is closed".
She took the time to smile to my boyfriend but never crossed my eyes... also...
Who closes the kitchen 2 hours before?
We were puzzled so we decided to stay.. There were some ready burgers at the counter and we ordere one each, 2 drinks and 2 desserts. Almost 40euros for some tiny warmed up burgers... that were just ok, a mediocre cider and I have to admit some excellent pastries.
It is clearly overpriced and run but people not interested in making you feel welcome.
Irregular hours, terrible service, no soap in the toilet (that was clean at least).
Is it worthy? Well cakes were excellent but that doesn't justify the attitude and the poor service. I will not come back
Pros: Great desserts
Cons: Rude staff, expensive, irregular hours,

one of my favourite vegan places in town - Edit
i came across Laélo by accident some day and am in love with their food since.
Read morei haven't tried any of their sandwich options, but most other items on the menu.
My favourite is the Super Veggie bowl. it contains over 15 different vegetables, raw and cooked, and the portion is so big i have a hard time finishing it. In most vegan places around town the portions are rather small, so it's nice to find a place that gives you a good amount of food for your money.
Also, their cakes and pastries are definitely worth a try.
They're all gluten and sugar free.
i wish their kitchen was open longer than from 12h to 15h.
But the rest of the time you can still get a variety of salads, sandwiches and burgers.
great place really
Pros: portion sizes, delicious pastries and cakes
Cons: kitchen opening hours

No posted hours - Edit
We were so excited to find an all vegan gluten free place in Paris but when we arrived at 7 pm on a Friday evening, they were closed. No hours were posted and their hours on Happy Cow said they would be open until 9 pm.

Delicious croissants and pastries - Edit
We were too early to try their hot food (starts around 12 I think) but we had delicious pastries and coffee - a lemon meringue tart and a chocolate banana cream cake. Then we bought filled croissants for our train journey (it's about 10-15 minute walk from Gare du Nord station, leave a bit of extra time because it's not the fastest service). Really delicious and great fun to get to try vegan versions of patisserie items - the best vegan croissants we've ever tried. Agree with some reviews that it's not cheap, but it's worth it for a treat. They also do lots of salads and burgers and things, which we didn't try.

Amazing food! - Edit
Supernice place with amazing food and so many different pastrues to choose from! The staff was very friendly and everthing was great. I thought it was a bit pricey (15 euro for burgers and snacks for dinner), but compared to closeby places it's quite normal I think. Otherwise it was perfect! If yoy want warm food in the evening, the kitchen opens at 19 and they only serve burgers then. (Except from all the cold food, which is a lot!) For lunch they have more options. The burger tasted great and hummus, coleslaw and potatoes were included.

Good pastries - Edit
I had a croissant (2.5€) which was very tasty even when it’s cold (it is served cold but you can ask them to heat it up), and the chocolate banana bread was also good. I came around 4pm and between lunch and dinner the kitchen is closed so you can only order things in the fridge, still a lot to choose from: croissant, a lot of pastries (2.5-3€?), cakes (4-6€), pre-made sandwiches and burgers. The sandwiches (4-?€) and especially burgers (9€) did look a bit expensive for what it looks like but could be tasty and I’ve heard that the main meals they have during the meal time (12€-ish) are really good! (The price is average for Paris I think) But as previous review they like leaving the door open so it gets chilly in the evening and also cigarette smoke comes in quite frequently.. and there was only one person behind the bar and once she was gone for a while (was to the toilet & to clean it seemed) so a customer had to wait like 10-15 min while we were all looking for someone. The staff seemed slightly cold in the beginning but was very nice and also spoke good English.
Read morePros: Tasty croissant! Lots of options. All vegan! , Open between lunch and dinner time! Cute place, Can hang out and do work while it’s not so busy.

I went here for breakfast in June 2018 and had yoghurt, almond croissant and a café crème which all tasted great. They have a lot to choose from so I can highly recommend this for breakfast.

Pastry heaven! - Edit
Laelo is one of the best bakeries we've found in the world, full stop. The pastries are world-class, and there's more than enough variety to tempt most anyone. All the French bakery staples are present and accounted for here, and the vegan versions served here lack nothing in flavor or texture compared to their less-healthy traditional counterparts. You could pick up some items here to share with omnivores and nobody would guess these are vegan.
Read moreIn particular, the pain au chocolat was stellar, and the croissants are excellent as well.
In addition to the bakery case, there's also a refrigerated display stocked with healthy meals to go.
Highly recommended. Enjoy!

Great cakes & food - Edit
We've been to Laelo many times by now. That means, it's time to update my review (and update the stars too). :)
Read moreThe food is always tasty, and I appreciate that they change the dishes rather frequently. The eat-in menu consists of 4 or 5 different dishes (bo-bun, curry, burger, etc.), and they also have sandwiches and salads ready for take out.
So, I'm impressed by the variety of the offer.
The desserts and pastries are something different to what you can get in Paris, definitely worth a visit if you're in town.
As examples of viennoiseries, you can have almond croissants, chausson-aux-pommes, or variations of the pain aux raisins.
Patisseries are some of the best in the city, with many things you cannot find anywhere else. Choices change frequently, so just check the pictures to get an idea.
Finally, you can have frozen yoghurt too!
The service is friendly, and the atmosphere is nice as well.
Highly recommended!
