Serves meat, vegan options available. Casual atmosphere. Varied menu of all-day breakfast and lunch. Kitchen will make something vegan where possible upon request. Confirmed closed, Sep 2018.
This is a nice little restaurant with vegetarian options but a very limited vegan selection. They were able to do a Moroccan scramble for me, which was delicious but the only vegan option.
There is a lot of buzz about this place these days... And thusly it is teeming with hipsters and the waits for a table are often very long... Especially at lunch or Sunday brunch. The food is not amazing but acceptable. Very limited healthy, vegetarian food and lots of loud, unpleasant music. In a neighborhood with few options, this is a better one, but don't go out of your way.
Waited for 20-30 minutes for a seat on Sunday, late afternoon. A few vegan items on the menu, but we were informed there was no tofu on the premises, the only non-meat protein on the menu, and so we left, starving, with nowhere else to go in the neighbourhood now that Pulp Kitchen is closed.
Who runs out of tofu when it's the only main vegan ingredient in the place? A place that won't get my business.
I have been there twice, and ordered the same dish twice: "very mellow-yellow organic tofu-vegetable curry on brown basmati rice topped w/ scallions & cilantro. 11.50" It is so good I cannot even describe it. I think thats the only vegan option, though there is a tofu scramble breakfast dish.
Also the (non vegan!) apple crisp with ice cream dessert is baked when you order it. Amazing.
But seriously, go there just for the curry dish. Try some soup if its vegan.
Cash only, long table wait time so be prepared. Quirky/casual decor.
