A Vegan Plate is available to order!

La Wawa Puerto Rican Soul Food - Lincoln City, OR

Driving on the way back from Newport, OR to Seaside, OR .. we were hoping to find a spot for some great vegan food. A quick Google search and we landed upon a perfect option, La Wawa Puerto Rican Soul Food. When looking up their menu we were thrilled to see, not just items that could probably be accidentally vegan ... no no, they have a full on Vegan Plate listed in their menu! In addition to including a picture of the actual food we received, I've also included a picture of the Vegan Plate as listed directly on their website.

For your plate, you get some typical staples of slaw, rice, beans, maduros and tostones, each item seemed perfectly spiced and flavored and the respective textures were spot on as well. We actually ordered a separate side of tostones to hold us for the drive back (waiting until back in the room before wolfing down for the Vegan Plate).

So, one word of caution ~~ blink and you'll miss them ~~ especially if driving at night as they are based out of a food truck. Whatever listing we found for them when Googling, we failed to take notice of their business model being a food truck model as opposed to a brick and mortar location. They are right on south side of Highway 101 so they're easy to find so long as you're using Google Maps or Waze and mindful that you're looking for a food truck.

There's a lot of options in the North Oregon Coast, some accidentally vegan, some specifically labelled vegan, Pizza, Thai, Sushi, etc ... all great options. The Puerto Rican food was something we found to be a bit unique for the area. So if you're looking for something just a bit different than the norm, along with the comfort of knowing you're eating a vegan dish ... you need to drop on by and show them some appreciation!

So good & good quality!

I got rice & beans as a side with plantains and Caribbean slaw over rice and combined it all into one dish and it was so good! I asked the woman in the truck what’s vegan and just got what she suggested. It was $18 with tip and good for two meals. I’d recommend for anyone looking to support a small business and try something new!

Worthwhile vegan options

The day we stopped here, they were sold out of all plantain items, which was a bummer. But they happily helped come up with a modified vegan platter that included their red beans and rice, citrus slaw, and fries with mojo for dipping. Bummed we missed trying their plantain stuff, but we'll be back. It's hella hard to find satisfactory vegan food on this stretch of the Oregon coast.

Sooooo good

The vegan monfongo with rice and beans and maduros was amazing! My Maduros blew away in the wind and they replaced it which was super nice of them. They were super accommodating for vegans as well.
