Vegan (by default) Mexican restaurant with an extensive menu featuring a wide range of plant-based dishes, including ones with jackfruit grown at a family farm in Nayarit, Mexico. From jackfruit tacos and savory jackfruit burritos to huevos rancheros and horchata. The entire menu is vegan by DEFAULT. Diners can ask for the vegetarian option and choose dairy cheese or eggs, instead of the vegan default. Open Tue 11:00am-2:00pm, 5:00pm-8:00pm, Wed 11:00am-2:30pm, Thu-Fri 11:00am-2:00pm, 5:00pm-8:00pm, Sat-Sun 11:00am-5:00pm. Closed every other Mon.

Authentic Mexican Food - Edit
The portions are huge and all of the different spices and ways of preparing the Jackfruit are phenomenal. I would recommend ordering one entree for two people but the food is fresh and delicious.

Disappointing Experience and Lack of Communication with Jacka Catering - Edit
I hired Jacka to cater an event but had to cancel three months in advance. The manager initially said he’d discuss a possible partial refund with the owners, but I haven’t received any response to my messages. I even visited the restaurant multiple times for updates, only to be told each time that I would contacted soon. This has now been going on for four months with no resolution. If you plan to hire them, I’d recommend negotiating a reasonable deposit or consider going somewhere else. Lost more than $1,100. Other than that, the food is quite good.

Tasty jackfruit-based vegan Mexican food. I had the mole enchiladas and my wife had tamales. Both dishes were full of flavor, well presented with tasty side dishes too.

Enchiladas Deliciosas - Edit
Wanted some authentic Mexican comida in Downtown Fresno. The enchiladas plate was delicious with pastor flavored jackfruit carne and both mole and chile verde sauce. With a large refreshing glass of mango agua fresco. It was a wonderful lunch. Highly recommend!

We have supported this place since it was 'LA Jacka Mobile' food truck. We have always been crazy about the delicious food here but I was absolutely put off when I went there in April to find out that they now use eggs in some of the dishes. Why would you change a perfectly well vegan restaurant to lacto-ovo vegetarian? I will NOT be returning due to fear of cross contamination. If I wanted to support places that use eggs, I might as well go for vegan options at Chipotle.

Really? How many totally vegan places do you have in Fresno? La Jacka "uses eggs in some dishes" but it otherwise is vegan. This vegan is grateful to find it. I'm visiting this Sunday, will post a review.

Hi! There are about 3-4 other places. Food is great at La Jacka, without a doubt but the restaurant shouldn't be advertised as 'vegan' on Happy Cow if they use eggs too. It should be vegetarian & ovo, with vegan options. I find it misleading. People should be able to make informed decisions.

Delightful roadtrip lunch - Edit
Passing through Fresno and didn't want to pass up vegan Mexican food. Glad we stopped. Easy pay street parking. Plenty of seating with clean restrooms down the hall in the building. Staff was courteous and helpful placing careful order letting us know various options for each dish. Entrées were tasty and flavorful. Hope to be able to return soon to try other menu options.

Came here because they have vegan Pazole and it was amazing. Very nice staff and good environment. In a vegan wasteland this place offers the Mexican comfort food that I crave from my childhood. The only thing I would say is they need to use more hominy.

Absolutely delicious food! My partner and I found this gem serving authentic Mexican flavors while looking for a good vegan place in Fresno. The whole menu is vegan by default. Customers have the option to switch to a vegetarian version featuring dairy cheese and a non vegan egg.
Read moreWith that out of the way, I am so impressed. My plate of vegan Huevos Rancheros was awesome. The yo egg (an additional charge) is totally worth it and makes for a delicious AND "instagramable " plate of food. My husband's plate of three enchiladas (he got a different sauce for each) was really good too. The beans (we both got pinto!) were some of the best I've had at a restaurant. The generously portioned horchata and frescas (my mango fresca had fresh fruit and agave and was just the right amount of sweet) are a must try too!
(La Jacka wasn't on Happy Cow, so we're adding them right now, and I feel happy that we're the first of many great reviews they are sure to get!)
