some Romanian vegan bites

Andrei from of the free walking tour confirmed for me, that they have the following vegan options:
- mashed beans with pickles
- zacusca
- eggplant salad with tomatoes (which to me is a spread, not a salad)
The waitress also said these are vegan:
- cabbage salad with tomatoes and dill
- pie with mushroom (without the cream)
- vegetable soup (without cream)
Mixed pickles and mushroom salad also sound vegan.
I had the beans and eggplant salad, last came with 5 slices of potatoe bread and the blueberry lemonade. All tastes very good!

Pros: vegan Romanian food , some choices , good selection of drinks

Cons: quite expensive , nothing is marked vegan

No vegan options anymore

I was here on January 2023 and the host said they have absolutely no vegan options, they use butter or milk everywhere.

Pros: none

Cons: no vegan options

Several vegan options

The menu is clearly marked with vegetarian options, several which can be modified to be vegan by removing cheese or yogurt. I had a Shepard pie with mushroom.

Really friendly staff

This place has the best staff I've met at Romania! Really really friendly, helpful and efficient. However, they have very few vegan options, overall in the mains. The dishes were tasty and well-cooked.

Nice Romanian food

I went to their location on the main square, which has the same menu. I expected it to be a bit of a tourist trap because of the prime location, so I was pleasantly surprised. The staff is very friendly. They had several vegetarian options on the menu and a few options for vegans. I has a pie with mushrooms ans sour cream that was tasty. But it was the desert that made the most impression, I had the typically Romanian papanasi, that was simply divine.

Limited vegan and vegetarian options

Went to check this place out hoping to get some Romanian vegan options. No veggie milk for coffee and very few vegan options. We had a nice eggplant salad with potato bread and some pickled mushrooms and moved on.

Disappointing

There was no vegetable soup, only mushroom with sour cream. Additional vegan options: appetizers, pickled vegetables and mushrooms, mushroom pie.

Mushroom Pie Yum!!

The staff are exceptionally friendly and although the vegan options are not marked they know which options are vegan. When you order the mushroom pie as vegan they swap out the yogurt sauce with a delicious homemade tomato sauce.

Pros: Best Mushroom pie ever!!, Warm mulled wine., Large serving, small price

Nice restaurant in old town

Great restaurant in the old town of Brasov. Perfect for sharing, we had the mushroom pie and bean paste with garlic bread and pickles. Friendly staff and amazing food. Vegetarian options labeled on the menu.

Vegan Options

There is a few sides and the trio of bread spreads (swap carp roe for aubergine salad dip) is ammmazing and very filling with the bread. There is also a mushroom pie option too which the waiter said he could remove the sourcream. I really wanted to try the vegetable soup which is served in a bread bowl however this is only available Monday to Friday. Luckily there is a allergen number next to each item, a English menu and the waiter was quite helpful. The plum dumpling dessert also happens to be vegan too!

Pros: Easily can adapt a few sides for a main, Real Romanian food, Nice outside area in the square/inside interior

Cons: Not the cheapest place , Probably wouldn't visit twice as limited options

Can make a good meal out of sides

The few sides that are vegan are really tasty and great to get a few to share! Vegan not labelled but allergens are, so it's easy to see if something contains dairy or eggs.

There's even a vegan sweet dumpling

Friendly service.

Few vegan options, food is good

A nice place downtown, offering lot of seats but seems to be often crowded.
Vegan options are not indicated as such on the menu, but you can see if there are animal products with the allergen tab of each dish on the menu.
The food is good but there are very few vegan options. Sometimes the soup of the day is vegan, but you should ask. You can order some "bites" on the menu : it is good!
The staff is friendly.
Not very cheap though.

Some nice vegan options

Only a few vegan options and it's not labeled on the menu. Therefore traditional rumanian cuisine and we liked the food and the atmosphere. Although the place was crowded, we got a table indoor for three people straight away. You'd have to wait to sit outside. Staff is very friendly and relaxed.

Several vegan options, very central

La Ceaun is located just at the main square of Brasov. The restaurant offers meat as well as vegetarian options and vegan options. You can see on the menue (June 2019) if the vegeterian dish contains milk or egg, so you don't need to ask the stuff. It's a good place to try some traditional food that happens to be vegan.
For example the bean paste with pickels or zacusca, a paste made of red pepper, eggplant and tomatos, or some cabagge salad.

Pros: Several vegan options

Cons: A bit touristic

Great food and nice staff

Even when there aren't a lot of vegan options, you have the ingredients list available in the English menu and the food is simply delicious!

good food, few vegan options

We were there in October 2017. The menu doesn’t specify exactly what’s vegan and what’s not, but the English speaking crew are happy to advise.
There was a vegan potato soup but it was out before we got there. All we had to eat vegan was a few cold dishes. They were all super good, but I really wanted something warm and that was missing.

Pros: tasty food, great service

Cons: no warm vegan options
