Yummy vegan ramen in Akihabara - Edit
I had an excellent experience here. It was nice to be able to eat at the same place as my omnivore husband. The vegan ramen is very clearly marked and you can get it with tofu, which was great since I have been mostly relying on nuts for protein. We had fun with the toppings (sesame seeds, spices) that they provide and we sat in a back corner away from where the rest of the food was being cooked. Also got the lemon carbonated beverage that they recommend, which was fun. The manager was really nice -- highly recommend. We got there at 5:30 and didn't have to wait, but by the time we left a half hour later the line was out the door.

Cute little place with friendly staff. Theres is only one vegan option but it’s delicious, costs 1000 yen so could be cheaper. Vegan option is clear on menu

A really small place with English menu. The Vegan ramen is delicious and you can add extra vegetables to it as well as order extra noodles.

Very nice ramen - Edit
Used a bit of time to find the place, but the vegan ramen was very good. Went here twice and even though it was better the first time (the second time the ramen was a bit too salt) it was very good both times!

They took our order while we were still standing in front of the shop because it is so tiny. Very friendly service and nice soy meat for the vegan ramen

Decent feed - Edit
Honestly the vegan ramen isn’t all that impressive, but it’s a hearty and filling meal for its price. It’s a tiny shop with limited seating that is popular with locals, definitely an ‘eat and go’ joint. They blast upbeat remixes of English pop songs which I’m not sure anyone enjoyed lmao

The finishing touch to your Akihabara experience - Edit
If you visit Tokyo, chances are you will also visit Akihabara. It is the electronics district with computer shops, anime, electronics shops, j-pop, electronics shops, idols, electronic shops, maid cafe's and did I mention the electronics shops?
Read moreRamen (soup with noodles) is traditional Japanese food that is actually more popular than sushi. The broth usually comes from animal fat, but Kyushu Jangara is one of the very few places that offers vegetable based ramen. The restaurant is exactly where Google Maps will send you and the many photos on Happy Cow will help you recognise the restaurant (only Japanese / Chinese writing on the outside). Inside it is as traditionally Japanese as it gets. The restaurant is cramped with about 10 seats at the counter and four
tiny seats in a cosy corner just around the door. The walls are littered with posters with Japanese proverbs and advertisements that seem to have been there since the 1960s.
Don't worry about a Japanese menu or speaking Japanese, just say "vegan" and all will be well. There's only one vegan option, the only choice is about the number of tofu "slabs" on top of your bowl of ramen. According to meat eating friends, the vegan ramen served at Kyushu Jangara tastes just like animal fat based ramen.
T's TanTan at Tokyo Station and Uneo Station is famous for offering vegan ramen, but it has it's own healthy approach to ramen. Also T's TanTan is modern, while Kyushu Jangara looks like it has been there for decades and nothing ever changed. The taste of the ramen at Kyushu Jangara is indistinguishable from "the real thing", making it the perfect finishing touch to your Akihabara experience.
Pros: genuine Japanese experience, genuine ramen taste
Cons: not cheap, very busy (waiting line outside possible)

Delicious and fast! - Edit
Not much choice but it's tasty and there are lots of toppings to add at your table to customise to your taste. The staff are nice and friendly but just be prepared for a small table in a tight space.

Amazing vegan ramen. Would give five stars if possible. Friendly staff and a generous portion. My partner also enjoyed his non vegan meal. My only qualm is that they seem to have upped the price of the vegan ramen a bit, presumably because there is not much competition. This seems to be the case all around Japan.

Worth looking for. Tiny. Perfect. Extremely friendly. Handed us the English menu straight away, the vegan option is on the cover! Attentive to the point of telepathic.

Amazing! - Edit
This place was great, friendly and helpful wait staff who were so happy to help and serve vegan ramen. I'm travelling with meat eaters so it was great to find a place we all could happily eat (I hadn't found a place that served vegan ramen yet!). I really liked the tofu and flavours as well, all round amazing!

Best Ramen Ever - Edit
This ramen was the first and last meal I had on my trip to Japan. It was by far the best ramen I’ve ever had in Tokyo/my life. It was so good I had to keep going back. The staff was friendly and helpful. If you’re in town and need a good vegetarian meal, I can’t recommend enough this location or any of the other restaurant locations!

Tasty ramen - Edit
This place has a good vegan soy sauce ramen, but it was a little salty. Traditional Japanese restaurant style, worth a visit if you are in Akihabara and hungry for ramen. Not the best ramen, but the Japanese style makes it worth it. The ramen costs 1000yen.
