Great!

I was so happy to find this place. Since it was my first time in Kazan, I wanted to eat at least some Russian food. Even though this place wasn’t vegan, I was able to find lots of things that were.

The food was overall very good. I’d have to say my favorite was the Cabbage Katletkey (I don’t think that’s spelled right) and my least favorite was the Potato Pieroks. The juice was also super tasty! Even though the food was good, it was a tad to oily for my liking.

My family of three got about 9 different t things to try and it still cost about $20! The cheapness was definitely a pleasant surprise.

Note: Everything in the shop is written in Russian. I luckily was with people who could read/speak Russian so it wasn’t an issue. If you’re by yourself, I’d advise you learn how to ask “is it vegan” and read the words “milk, butter, and eggs.”

9/10 recommend

Столовка

Данная столовая для вегетарианцев находится под обычной столовой прямо в центре города на пешеходной улице. Меню с домашней и простой едой. Подходит для бюджетного и быстрого перекуса.

Wonderful!

Delicious, wholesome food in the centre of the city and everything is vegetarian. It has a great variety and it's really affordable. There are traditional Tatar pastries, which you have to try, although they aren't vegan. I wish they had these all over Russia.

Pros: Everything was delicious and cheap.

Cons: The labels are in Russian.

Good and cheap

If you really want to eat cheaply in Kazan, or don't want to eat fast food all the time, then this is the right location for you. You just have to like the canteen handle - I was there almost every day. The location is super central. The warm food is almost always vegan - with the soup be careful, sometimes they add cream. There is hardly anything vegan with all the pastries.

Pros: cost-effective

Cons: no marking of the vegan dishes, Russian latterin only

Good inexpensive food

A fully vegetarian eatery in the very heart of Kazan. Not the lowest prices in the city (for example, a portion of buckwheat costs 2 times cheaper upstairs in the same building, in Dobraya Stolovaya), but still on the cheap side. Serves a lot of dishes and bakery. Unfortunately, all pies and bunnies include either yeast or animal products (eggs, butter, etc). It would be awesome to add some yeast-free vegan bakery! For example, I know it’s possible to cook “kystybyi” without sour cream or butter.

Pros: 100% vegetarian

Cons: No yeast-free vegan bakery
