Yummy chimney cakes all over the city! - Edit
I love that I have a quick warm food option I can grab anywhere in the city because of this chain (they sell chimney cakes at most bigger intersections all over the city)! The chimney cakes they offer are soft and savoury, but you need to make sure you get one that is freshly-baked, because they are considerably less enjoyable when cold - it's just the nature of chimney cakes though. Best to go when there is a little queue, because then you know the already made ones are selling out, and new ones are being made, and your chances of getting a fresh, warm one are higher.
Read moreIt is true there is no info about the opening hours, which does suck - my experience is that they are open until they have ingerdients to make the cakes from, and/or customers: I've recently passed the stall near Nyugati railway station, all lit and open at 11pm on a weekday - but the one near Király utca sometimes doesn't even open...
The price has gone up a bit since a previous review, now most places offer the cakes for 800 HUF, with the one at Király utca being the only exception I'm aware of, with 700 HUF as the price.
Be careful with what you order though - I'd stay away from the options with hazelnut cream, cocoa or chocolate drops - if they still offer these - because I'm not sure if these are confirmed vegan. In the past I have seen them using non-vegan hazelnut spread and cocoa powder - based on our little discussion the staff wasn't even aware these products weren't vegan.
Pros: yummy chimney cake, several locations all over the city, reasonable price

It was ok, I'm sure it was a lot better when it was fresh but they prepare then in advance and sell you the ones that are already lying there ready to be sold. As they pack the hot chimney cakes in plastic, they are a bit wet and soggy when cold (when you buy them). Ours also had some patches that weren't entirely cooked through but it tasted good overall

Unfriendly staff. I felt like I was disturbing them during smoking break. They don't have any sign with opening hours and other informations about business. So I'm not sure if it's 100% legal. We loved the Chimney and went to buy some every morning despite the very unfriendly "welcome" of the sellers. As smiley as we were, we always felt like disturbing them when we came to order.

The lady selling the chimney cakes was very unfriendly and didn’t seem interested in selling anything at all. The chimney cake I got was already cold, dry and hard. Had way better chimney cakes before! Wouldn’t buy there again.
