Tasty, my stomach was happy

Really delicious food. My stomach was full after the lunch. The food reminded me the type of food grandmothers used to made us. Really satisfying.

Great place, with good food and good cause

Came back after long time. I really love the concept, the fact that the place is run by women and helps those who experienced some difficult times in their life.

The food is delicious and they serve big portion. Once towards the end of the day I've been even served little top up when I complimented the food. Gave me very warm welcoming feeling like being in mom's kitchen:)

Often you can be lucky to have on the daily offer one of the typical school canteen food.

Always happy to be back.

Pros: Concept, Food and big portions , Atmosphere

Social restaurant with good food

This place is great. The food is very good and super cheap (soup main 129 czk), and the NGO running the place is helping homeless women. Amazing. Absolutely worth the tram ride fram the city center to experience and support it.

Well worth supporting

This small bistro offers huge portions of simple yet tasty food, plus a range of ethically-sourced drinks including non-alcoholic beers. Also offers small-scale and large-scale catering of vegan lunch boxes etc with house-made baguettes and muffins. The organisation (Jako Doma) supports homeless women who work as cooks and are also involved in initiatives at its social centre. I spoke with some of the staff who were all very friendly and helpful and the general atmosphere is very welcoming. All the decor and most of the equipment is recycled, with lamps made from graters and jugs and photo frames made from saucepans, and there are political and philosophical books to read as well as Jako Doma's own newspaper.

Pros: ethical initiative, good food and portion sizes, atmosphere

Cons: a bit hidden - take a tram to U Zvonu, smaller menu

Very tasty and cheap food!

The food here is really delicious for very good value! The food is quite basic, I had a soup for a starter and mashed potato and vegetables for a main, but it all tastes so good! My non vegan friend had the quiche and said that it was one of the best quiches she's ever had! They also do some really nice pastries, I definitely recommend trying those!

Pros: 100% vegan, Tasty food, Great value

Cons: None

comfort food,people,atmosphere!

Super cozy and nicely furnitured restaurant on the other side of the vltava, with menu and cakes. I had polenta and salat with some creamy spinach soup. It was a lot of food for a menu(95kč) but it was also very tasty. I think i never had a tastier spinachsoup in my whole life!
And i liked the nice lady behind the counter,we were having a nice chat! I would definitley recimmend to go there, and next time i'll try the tasty looking pastries :)

Pros: everything vegan, cheap, nice staff nice interieur

If only I lived inPrague....

I would eat here every day its open if I could!

The raison d'être of websites like Happy Cow is to aid us in finding veggie/vegan places to eat well. In cities like Prague which has become a vegan mecca we can do more that that. We can select the best and most ethical places to visit and share them with others. One could wander around Prague and literally bump in to enough vegan outlets without consulting the Happy Cow app. For an "old" vegan this is a privilege that is hard at times to believe. Jidelna stands out from all the myriad of other vegan options in Prague because it is much more than just a place to get great vegan cuisine and it is not just surfing the "vegan wave" to make money
Jidpelna was set up by a crew called Jako Doma that has been working for years with homeless women in Prague. The organisation is called Cooks without Homes. - Kucharek bez Domova. The project aims to empower homeless women and offer them skills and an opportunity to work in a place run by themselves.
The result after much hard work is a dynamic little cafe on the edge of the city centre. Every day they serve one different 3 course meal. They specialise on doing vegan versions of Czech foods, simple but tasty. The Cauliflower soup I had was a gorgeous creamy affair. The main course was roasted veg kebabs on a bed of tasty moist millet with a garlic sauce, twas marvellous. They may never do this meal again! but on the basis of my experience here on one day I would happily come back every day to see what they serve up next. And I could afford to!, Czech is cheap for us Northern Europeans, but Jidlena keeps it prices super low so anyone could afford to eat there.

They have the local 'Praguerova' fruit juices with the super cool labels (Frida Karlo, Emma Goldman etc) and the interior is decorated with kitchen utensils. Wifi available too!

I think the only problems with Jidelna for me is that I live in London and when I next visit Prague I'll have trouble justifying to myself the idea of eating out anywhere else.
