They sell minke whale meat, don't go there. The furniture itself is half made of reindeer skin and seal skin is used as decoration. No real need, just a cringe choice in order to "bring back" the vibes of the "good old days" of hunting and trapping. no vegan options on the menu.
No options on their menu when we visited last week. The décor also does not lend itself to being vegan, lots of reindeer skin everywhere and a picture of a shot polar bear on the wall with blood. Did not stay!
Kroa offers a Lentil stew on their dinner menu but if you ask politely they can make it for you during lunch.
It is amazing and is a great way to mix up your cuisines while in Longyearbyen since most cafes and restaurants offer burgers and sandwiches this one offers a fantastic flavourful lentil stew.
5/5 stew. If you're on the fence, trust me, it's worth it.
Svalbard's restaurants are not great for vegans, but Kroa has a couple of vegetarian options on the menu which can be made vegan. There was no fuss when I asked. I had the Indisk dal. The portion was large and tasty.
