Tasty tasty - Edit
100% vegetarian Indian food with plenty of options for vegans. The menu has a lot of options, it was hard to choose. Prices were reasonable and the food was delicious!

Quality is mediocre for a veg restaurant - Edit
Normally I like Indian and south Indian food and look for it. Quality and caliber of food here is average, don’t know why they have to use toxic food colors. They are absolutely unnecessary and show incompetence of the chef. Variety is standard good, location and ambiance is all good. Please find a more knowledgeable and health oriented chef who can make veg food into what it always should be - delicious and healthy. Sambar is below average quality. Coconut chutney is ok. Paneer dishes have colors for ugly looks.

authentic, affordable and vegan friendly - Edit
very nice fully vegetarian south indian restaurant. vegan options are clearly marked on the menu (there are loads!!) and the staff is very knowledgeable as well. the food is good and authentic. i would recommend sticking to the south indian dishes, but the north indian ones are tasty as well 🙏 definitely try the masala dosa and vada if you're there!

Good food, slow service at peak hours - Edit
Went there with a group of friends before a concert.
Read moreThe food:
The mixed vegetable uthappam was nice, but a bit bland. My friends tomato, onion and chilli uthappam was a lot tastier, though! Also the South Indian thali is good and more than enough if you also have a starter, since starters are quite big portions.
The service:
I never go to Krishna Vilas for excellent and friendly service. This time we did get a very friendly and attentive server, however two things were annoying:
- We made an online reservation which was accepted, but when we got there the manager had to move people around to accommodate for the reservation. Even though it's packed it's not nice to know that the reservation wasn't really taken into account with seating.
- It was very busy, but they still took a lot of delivery orders. In the chaos our order got delayed in the kitchen, which caused us to miss the opening act and be just in time for the headliner.
So be ware of reservation and planning when visiting at peak hours.
Pros: Good food, Friendly server
Cons: Reservation didn't seem to get through, Long wait for main course

Good food in lacking restaurant - Edit
At first, we were afraid that the portions would be too small, but we were so wrong... When we got our food, it looked like a giant version of the pictures on the menu, very funny. The food tasted great and was very cheap (only 9 euros for a big meal).
Read moreHowever, the interior and vibe is not that nice. We felt that it's probably better for take out or when you want to go with a big group.
Pros: Cheap, Great taste, Fast service
Cons: No vegan dessert , No vegan special drinks, Restaurant interior

Great indian food! - Edit
Menu is very clearly labelled everything that is vegan and also everything that can be made vegan by request. Tried the masala dosa to try something new and wasn't dissapointed, had 4 tasty dips and a spicy mash potato inside. Also had the aloo gobi which was super tasty and good portion size!

Would definitely go back.
Pros: Large menu, well labelled

Authentic Indian food - Edit
If you want to have authentic food from India you have to go to Krishna Vilas. You don’t go to this restaurant for a nice and romantic night out, but you go here if you want good quality food.

Lot of vegan options, bad service - Edit
As this restaurant is marked as best restaurant in Eindhoven on Happy Cow I actually disagree.
Read moreThe waiter was not welcoming at all when we came in without a reservation. Every time we had to wait a long time before the waiter would come and help us, to order or get drinks (we sat a long time with finished drinks). We also asked for food without cilantro, the waiter said yes we don’t put cilantro on everything so you will be fine. Then we ordered a recommended plate from the waiter and it came with cilantro, which was disappointing and they didn’t even apologize.
The food was tasty but not that special and also no explanation of what everything was. Which was quite necessary when ordering a plate with 7 different curries.
I don’t know if I would go back here as the service was really poor and we didn’t feel welcome or helped at all.
Pros: Lot of vegan options, Probably nice local food
Cons: Overall very poor service, Not a cosy restaurant, bright lighting, very cold, Bad communication, only english, no explanation

Relaxed ambience and delicious Indian food - Edit
Other than that all the food is made better suited for European taste buds (toned down the spicyness), this is mouth watering South Indian food. We got great recommendations that were all vegan and overall good service. The ambiance is relaxed and invites to feel at home.

My absolute favorite Indian restaurant - Edit
When you walk past this restaurant you see simple tables and chairs flooded with light. Not really inviting, as you look closer you'll see a lot of customers from India and countries around. The waiter will most likely ask if you've made a reservation but it barely never is needed to do so. I'd advise to keep on ordering and sharing, keep them coming those dosas, curry's and roti's. You must try the grilled aubergine (baingan bharta) with a flatbread. I truly find the dishes delicious. It's a pity for vegans the naan-breads aren't vegan.

Pros: dosa's, if you don't know them share one to start, Grilled aubergine with smokey taste, Feels like being in India
Cons: Delicious naan bread isn't vegan, They removed kaju mutter from the menu :-(

Not to miss for dosa lovers - Edit
Just passing through Eindhoven by train and couldn't resist to hop of for a mysore masala dosa and vegetable uthapam. Conveniently close to the central train station and fantastic value for money. For me, South Indian food brings back good memories and really classifies as comfort food. Even the slightly traditional tacky atmosphere adds to the experience. I really use to like the sweets, but unfortunately, there ate no vegan alternatives yet.

Tasty food, but vegans beware.. - Edit
In short:
Read moreThe food was quite tasty and arrived fast, but the food was also very simple and the portions could be bigger and more complex for the price. The waitress also wasn't very friendly at all (seemingly annoyed at everything) and didn't know cow yogurt is not vegan.
The longer version:
Our dishes (vegetable biryani & szechuan noodles) lacked any type of protein (no tofu, no cashews, nothing), which is kind of important as vegetarians/vegans. It was just simple rice/noodles with some diced veggies mixed in.
I'd say for the price of €12,- per dish (in our case), it was too lacking and too small to justify the price. A fair price would be more in the range of €7,- or €8,- to give some perspective.
Also, vegans beware: Upon asking if the vegetable biryani (marked Vegan) contained yogurt, the reply was that "yogurt is vegan"... we asked if they used a yogurt alternative to make it vegan, but she clarified "the yogurt from a cow"... ⁉️ Maybe the waitress wasn't knowledgeable and made a mistake, but just beware of this when ordering.

good food, complicated menu - Edit
We went here when it just opened. I have to say the atmosphere of the restaurant is very basic, could be cozier. The food was nice but I went with my family and choosing from the menu was a complicated endeavour. We asked for not spicy food but it ended up being too spicy for my family anyway.
