Vegan prix fixe meal was amazing! - Edit
The fig toast was phenomenal and oyster mushroom Rockefeller was superb. Wellington with seitan was delicious. They could do better than cookies for dessert but it was still good because of the whipped cream and syrup and ice cream. Totally worth it!

Excellent Vegan Options - Edit
Pro tip for parking. You can do valet just down the street and let them know you are eating at Kres. It’s free! Restaurant is beautiful and perfect for a special event like an anniversary. We both did the prix fixe menu and added an additional appetizer. They also brought us a chef bonus appetizer. Flavors were amazing. Menu is unique. Vegan chef came out to visit with us. Expensive but worth it.

(Check below for the most recent update, my initial review is no longer relevant.)
Read moreSo I went for a late dinner with my partner the night after V-Day since reservations filled up fast. We both did the 3 course meal for $49 plus got an extra appetizer and drinks. (I highly recommend getting the more affordable cocktails over wine, and they even list on the menu which drinks are vegan.)
I remembered to get pictures of everything but the desserts and drinks. Everything was amazing, with the appetizers being the star of the show. Easily the best vegan crab cakes I’ve ever had, and the oyster Rockefeller was quite convincing! The beef Wellington was very juicy and fluffy (made from a black bean seitan). The “free” bread was freshly baked and came with vegan butter and dipping sauce. Everything seemed to be made in house and was very high quality, even the vegan ice cream. I could taste the vanilla bean versus the usual imitation vanilla. Honestly better than half the vegan ice cream places I’ve visited.
If you can afford this place I highly recommend it for special occasions. Just expect to drop around $75 per person after drinks and tip. Service was phenomenal btw. My only complaint is that for the price of the meal it sure would be nice if they included parking for free. I read about valet online but we arrived too late to qualify since that was the only time we could get a reservation. This location is right next to a sun rail stop if you happen to visit on an early weekday evening or afternoon.
UPDATE: I went a couple of months ago with my partner and the both the quantity and quality of food went down while the price went up. To top it off the floor manager at the time gave us [censored] when we told him we were disappointed that the quantity went down. “It was like this at the vegan restaurants I went to in NYC…” Yeah well guess what? One, this is Orlando, your local competition is plentiful. Two, you’re not the only one that’s eaten vegan in NYC, and I know first hand most places don’t skimp on quantity, especially when it comes to the vegetable sides.
Also tone it down on the oil, it’s like you want everyone to leave with a stomach ache. Besides the snooty manager the service was great, they just need to realize that vegans totally have other options in Orlando. Hell, even downtown Orlando, I’d pick Jinya Ramen over this place any day of the week.
If they get new management or adjust prices I might be willing to give it another try one day.

Pros: The mixed drinks were nice., Luxury dining experience. Or at least luxury bill., Next to a sun rail stop
Cons: Oil over seasoning, Parking was $15!, Small plates, Large bill. Not worth it.

I’m not a fan of going to a steakhouse even if they do have a vegan menu, but it was a date so, you do what you have to do! The food was tasteless. The server was amazing, and the chef came out to speak with me, which was nice. They didn’t charge for my food. Although the hospitality was great, it didn’t make up for the food being terrible.

BF begged me to go back. Food was better than before (still not worth $50 and the entree came out just barely warm and covered in oil), but I ended up feeling very unwell a few hours later. Not saying it was the food, but idk what else it could have been.

Just keep getting talked into it. Once again, the food is just ok-nothing to write home about. Absolutely not worth the price tag. My omnivore partner had a salmon that was mostly cold in the middle although he didn’t order it that way. Just don’t get the 3 course meal because it’s not worth it.

Look behind the menu and you will find the vegan section!
Read moreI opted for the $49 Pre Fix 3 Course meal. I highly recommend ordering the vegan oyster Rockefeller 😻. The complimentary bread was the starter and it was magnificent. I cannot decide which dip was better: the vegan butter or the oil/herb. I choose both. The waiter also brought a free appetizer to test out which typically occurs on Saturdays.
The vegan chef came out and asked how was the food and had a nice conversation.

My husband and I had wanted to come here for years and finally did for our anniversary. We did the Prix fix price and left SO FULL. We shared both our appetizers, which that weekend was a vegan cheese plate and the wedge salad.

Excellent Vegan Fine Dining! - Edit
Was skeptical going to a steakhouse. However, we were pleasantly surprised. Incredible meal, service was impeccable, staff is extremely knowledgable on what vegan is, menu is clearly marked, including the wines and vegan friendly spirits. There is a pre fix option for $49 per person which includes a starter, entree, and dessert or you can order a la carte.
Read moreWe started the night with complimentary bread. I love that they asked if we would like vegan butter! However, they also brought out an absolutely delicious garlic and herb dipping oil. Had I known, I would have just asked for the oil. But love the options!
Starters were delicious! My favorite was the "Oyster" Rockefeller which was rich, savory, creamy. My husband ordered the Chickpea & Artichoke "Crab Cakes". It had a strong, yet delicious celery flavor. The kitchen accidentally made a Roasted Grape Toast (gifted) which was also delicious, but I am happier with what we originally ordered. I will be dreaming about the Oyster Rockefeller.
For the entree, I ordered the Vegan "Beef" Wellington. Highly recommended it, especially if you're hungry! The seitan is light, flavorful with walnuts, onions and mushrooms and a delicious shallot port jous. The dish had a hearty serving of sweet potato mash, topped with fried green onion, bean sprouts, and asparagus. I did not get the bean sprouts. They were beautiful but difficult to eat together with the dish. I wonder if it was to bring a more earthy flavor to balance the sweetness of the potatoes and jous. My husband ordered the Hearts of Palm Lobster" which was creamy, hint of tartness, delicious! We were both pretty full and dessert has not come out yet.
For dessert, I ordered the Brookie and my husband, the Ice cream "Sundae". They were insanely delicious, a bit comically huge. We could not finish it all. Luckily, was able to pack my Brookie to go. I think to take this vegan menu to the next level would be some refinement to dessert options or swap one of the desserts for a lighter, refreshing option like a vegan cheese cake, tiramisu, or vegan creme brulee. Both our desserts were too similar with the same ice cream, oreo cookie crumb, whipped cream and fruit. Really delicious, but too much and too much the same.
For drinks, we had the Basil Fresca, Sage Cosmo, Gin Martini, and Tom Collins cocktail. Every drink was amazing!
Thought $49 per person was a very fair price for what you get (you leave full), including the fine dining experience. Highly recommend!

My fiancée and I eat here regularly anytime we want to treat ourselves. The vegan options are wonderful, even down to the desserts.

Poor Service, but dinner is probably better - Edit
We went on Valentine's Day at 1:45 because that was the latest reservation we could get 1 week in advance. We were expecting the menu we saw when we clicked on the Vegan menu online. The one with all of the dishes people have reviewed so positively here. We found out when we arrived that that menu is the Dinner Menu and is only available after 3pm. So that wasn't such a good start. The lunch menu has vegan sandwiches and french fries. Yuck. So that was a disappointment for our big Valentines day Dinner. We heard several other people around us with the same misunderstanding and disappointment. My thought on the two menus is that if they can serve steak at lunch for non-vegans (we saw lots of people eating steak) they can serve beef wellington for vegans at lunch too.
Read moreI am willing to believe that the dinner menu is completely wonderful so just be sure you go after 3pm. One thing that was not due to the lunch-time menu was the very slow service. Even though 1:45 was the latest reservation I could get, 65% of the tables were empty when we got there. So there was no reason for our appetizer to take 1 hour to arrive followed by another 20 minutes for our sandwiches and fries to arrive. To top that off the waiter came by as my wife was waiting for her brookie after previously coming by and saying "are you ready for the best part" only to say he was sorry to inform us that they did not have any brookies! Would we like something else? Needless to say, my wife was not happy. I think we will need a year or two before the unpleasant memory fades and we can gin up enough courage to try again.. This was the most disappointing vegan meal we have ever had. Whatever you do, never come at lunch time. You might as well go to one of the many fast food vegan restaurants nearby.
One more thing, the manager sort of skipped by our tables as we were standing up to leave an instead of slowing down to ask how our meal had been, she just said thanks for dining with us.
The vegan lunch menu doesn't have a salad on it. That would be a big improvement.
To summarize:
- until the lunch menu improves avoid
- expect to wait about an hour or your food
- expect the manager NOT to ask you how the food and service were
- if you go to lunch expect the equivalent of an impossible burger and fries for your choices. Go to winter park biscuit company if you want a chicken sandwich.
- you may order a dessert and find out 90 minutes later that they don't have
Pros: The dinner menu
Cons: Lunch Menu has sandwiches and fries. Really?, First course took 1 hour to arrive, Let us order brookies they didn't have

Fancy go-to - Edit
Kres is my fancy go-to. Unfortunately, both fully vegan, but they have fantastic vegan options. If you are lucky enough to get a reservation on Saturday they have a unique test dish. Their vegan menu changes from time to time. My favorite dish, tofu salmon isn’t available anymore. The Blue Cheese Steak is pretty good. The brookie is usually a great dessert, but it has been overbaked, cold, and tough the last two visits. The last visit the food didn’t come out for 1.5 hours past our reservation. It usually is pretty good… not sure the slip in quality.

My go-to for fancy dinners - Edit
There’s nothing like Kres in Orlando (or most other cities). If you have a meat eater in your party, come here! The vegan menu is always delicious. If it’s your first time, get the wellington. I’ve tried a couple other options, but the wellington is still my favorite. The restaurant itself feels a bit dated (early 2000s vibes), but, having spoken to the vegan chef multiple times, they really put a lot of thought into the vegan menu. A few times they’ve brought me an off-menu item they’re experimenting with for free. Awesome service, great menu, worth the money!

Thankful for Vegan Offerings - Edit
We enjoyed being able to have options at a "fine dining" establishment. We shared all of our items so we could have more variety. The Chicken Bucatini Alfredo was amazing and that is the one thing we would go back for again. It reheated very well the next day so I would suggest ordering an extra one to take home!! Everything else was good, no complaints, but we just wouldn't make it a point to go back for any of it. The "ricotta" on the peach toast was great and tasted so close to real ricotta, but the peaches tasted not quite ripe. The Vegan Beef Wellington was good, but I can only eat so much of a hunk of black bean patty and the spinach was a bit stringy, so I didn't love paying $30 for it. The Brookie was really good! We left very full! Luckily we snagged a parking spot on the street right in front, otherwise I have no clue where the parking is located. I will say, when we first walked in it smelled like urine in there but maybe because they serve animal products as well and I am much more sensitive to those smells. Also, when a serving of fish was brought out for a table near us the smell was very overpowering of fish, but these things I learn to deal with and I am just thankful that a place is serving some vegan options that aren't a baked potato and salad.

Nice ambiance and good service. Went for my birthday because they have a whole vegan menu. We choose the 3 course $49 prefixed. Wow wow! - Edit
Never thought I’d see a chophouse with a vegan menu but pleasantly surprised. We made a reservation for a Monday night, which was good because there was a long wait for walk ins when we arrived. We were sat immediately and our server was lovely, as was the hostess. We got the “it’s about thyme” cocktail which was tasty. We also loved the bread that was served, it came with vegan butter and garlic oil—amazing.
Read moreOn the 3 course menu, my partner and I got the vegan crab cake, oyster Rockefeller, tofu salmon, beef steak, then the brookie and cashew cream sundae. The crab cake was a good size and delicious, I wasn’t crazy about the Rockefeller but that may be because it was difficult to eat (served in small artichoke leaf) and was smaller. Both entrees were quite good, couldn’t believe how steak like the beef steak was. The blue cheese wasn’t very blue cheese like but it was a delicious distinct flavor that complemented the dish. The tofu in the tofu salmon wasn’t super flavorful but everything it was served with was good, a bit more lemon would have been great. The desserts were incredible! The brookie was nice and rich and the cashew ice cream sundae was amazing. The sundae came with so much ice cream (photo doesn’t do it justice), maybe 3 big scoops and then piled with fruit and Oreos, chocolate and caramel type syrups, it was so thick and creamy I really had to resist gorging myself. All in all great experience.
