One of the best udon spots!

Got there for breakfast and had curry and kitsune udon. Both very tasty in their own way, with the Curry being rich and packed with flavour, whilst the kirsune was comforting and refreshing

Fantastic

As a Japan-born vegan who works in hospitality, I’m quite picky about good vegan Japanese food, but this is my favourite restaurant in London, and definitely the best Japanese food I’ve had out of Japan. There are several vegan options with my favourites being the walnut-miso udon and the zaru gomadare - udon with sesame dipping sauce. Don’t go expecting “ramen” because it’s not a ramen restaurant. They don’t serve ramen. They don’t claim to serve ramen. It’s not ramen!!!!! It’s not going to taste like ramen!!! The subtle mushroom, tofu and seaweed flavours available are fantastic. I really recommend checking the specials board for seasonal offerings, like the current spring leaf salad with wasabi-miso dressing, pistachio and blood orange. The drinks list is short but great and they often have homemade kombucha available. Very busy at peak times and bookings not possible so I recommend going for a late lunch/early dinner.

Lunch time queues

I would say the options were limited and after sitting watching the kitchen, I don’t think I would try the tempura. There were a handful of vegan options. On the recommendation of another ambassador, I opted for the mushroom and walnut udon. It did not disappoint, and I loved the way the miso and walnut were presented at the end for me to mix in. It’s a great lunch option, and although there were plenty of umami flavors, there was also a sweet undercurrent. The chopped walnuts added so much, and I will be using this at home. The wean had the sweet tofu miso, which was a bold move for her, but she loved it. They are doing something right. Nice pickled wind aid, and for my bowl, it would have been 4 stars, but I believe they need to add more vegan options.

Pros: Food, Staff

So pleased you went. I’m so in london in a couple of weeks. I might return for some of this walnuty goodness.

I think the tempura isn’t listed as vegan because it is fried with non-veg products. It’s not deceptive labelling as they don’t claim it to be vegan. I’ve noticed this as well and appreciate that it’s not listed vegan because of that.

authentic japanese Udon noodles

The place itself already makes you feel like you're in Japan. The staff members are very polite und friendly. The vegan und vegetarian are clearly marked on the menu. You'll get free water and you can watch how the food is made right in front of you.
The Restaurant offers Udon noodles und side dishes only. The portions are big and delicious, but it could be a little less pricey. We paid 30£ for two Udon in hot broth.

Pros: The atmosphere, The authentic japanese vibes und the food

Cons: No cash accepted, A bit pricey

Walnut and Mushroom Ramen

I keep going back to this place just for the walnut and mushroom ramen, it consumed my life for a while, obsessively visiting every time I was in London, it’s that good. Hard to find a good vegan broth and noodle combo and this one hits the spot. Small selection of vegan food but delicately made by experts.

I know it’s good to support full vegan places but this is heads above most vegan ramen places I have tried.

Ok Too expensive

The flavor is just ok but I give one star because I paid 13 pounds for a vegan ramen that had absolutely no veggies, there was a few mushrooms in there and a lot of water and noodles, I was so disappointed, the flavor was ok but as you ate it you couldn't help but think wtf am I paying this much for water and flour? There is NO veggies here! Me and my friend that also ordered another vegan flavor of ramen were so hungry after that we had to go to get ice cream and cake

Pros: 3 vegan options

Cons: SUPER EXPENSIVE FOR WHAT YOU GET

Worth a stop

The wait time was quite long when I visited for dinner around 6 and there was only 1 person taking orders/cleaning the bar. However, once seated, our food came quickly and was good. I asked for the udon kitsuné(sweet tofu and scallions) to be made vegan and it was no problem. The broth wasn’t the most flavorful, but the tofu and udon was perfect!
Seating is a long bar dividing the customers from the kitchen, don’t expect to have a private table- you’ll be sitting cozy next to other diners. Bonus: you can watch food being prepared while you wait.

Pros: good value, knowledgeable staff

Cons: no reservations, not wheelchair accessible
