Lovely idea and setting but I have some suggestions! - Edit
I was really excited to try this high-end vegan restaurant, which is also a vegan hotel. There were some lovely ideas and some of the food was delicious, but I think it could be improved.
Read moreWhen I eat out I want to see vegetables centre stage. There were a lot of meat and fish substitutes, like watermelon tuna and mushroom scallops. They were trying so hard to mimic these foods that I think the overall quality was reduced.
There was a delicious ‘amuse bouche’ which was umami perfection. It had elements of sushi and caviar.
I had a delicious starter of smoky aubergine, which was bang on. My partner’s starter of cannabis bread with gooseberry cream and truffles was interesting and a good flavour combination.
The main course was smaller than the starters. Mine was ‘explosive secret’: 4 tiny ravioli, with apparently missing spherical vegetables. The ‘Parmesan crisps’ were not a nice texture but the crispy tofu was nice. My partner had ‘Against the waves’ mushroom scallops. The mushroom scallops were not a pleasant texture: they could have been savoury-sweet with umami, but they not rounded in flavour. The seaweed was good though, but overall too much fishiness!
Because the portions were small (we were warned, but were still surprised because they were VERY small), we both had desserts. These were huge! My partner had the delicious ‘Moon Shot’ which was as good a dessert as the best tiramisu. I had ‘Lava Land’, a self-saucing chocolate pudding with a mysteriously mushroomy aroma. There was delicious pistachio icecream. I found the fondant pudding very heavy, rich and sweet after such light savoury courses and left feeling a bit sick!
It really pains me to leave this review because I love what they are trying to do. I do want this fine dining vegan experience, but don’t want to lose the satisfaction of really good cooking and balance of flavours. More local flavours and ideas would also be welcome: there are so many possibilities from the tradition of Greek cuisine. I hope the chef, if they read this, takes this as constructive feedback.
Pros: Innovative and exciting, Fine-dining experience, Lovely setting: around the pool
Cons: Expensive, Not local in terms of ingredients or style, Style over substance

Relaxing and beautiful! - Edit
We came here for our honeymoon and we would definitely come back again! One of the nicest places we have stayed! So convenient to be at a hotel that has so much vegan food at a super high quality! The pool was so nice and had many fun seating options! Loved having the complimentary breakfast!
Read moreUnfortunately while we were there they didn’t have enough staff for a couples treatment so I can’t comment on the spa aspect!
The car they had for hire is quite expensive if you are only 2 people although it was very reliable and great for a bigger group or for a more luxury ride. We had some luck using an app to get rides!
If you are staying here I most highly recommend the bike tour out of the extra activities! It was the best thing we did in Mykonos besides staying here!
The boat tour to Delos/Rhenia that we were set up with wasn’t the best quality so I don’t recommend that activity!

Incredible food! - Edit
Such a great culinary experience. Each dish demonstrates creativity and flair. The 6 hour seitan with red wine sauce was the best seitan I’ve ever tasted! The chocolate soufflé was perfect in both aesthetics and taste. It is clear that all the ingredients have been carefully chosen and prepared. They have an extensive wine list and cocktail/mocktail menu too. The restaurant setting is very tranquil and the staff are friendly but not intrusive. I’d recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for unique cuisine, celebrating a special occasion, or just interested in veganism. We definitely plan on coming back as soon as possible!

Stayed at this resort and had the pleasure of dining here for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Very tasty and unique dishes. Wow. It is very pricey but totally worth it. There was not one dish I didn’t like. I’ve uploaded all the meals. Seitan steak is out of this world. Also the Ceasar salad is AMAZING. Bao buns rocked. Just make sure you come here.

Worth every euro! - Edit
We were lucky enough to have our last day in Mykonos line up right with their first day open for the season of 2022! We made a reservation online and it was confirmed via email a couple hours later. A quick 15 minute ATV ride is all it takes to get to the town of Ano Mera. The staff were extremely helpful and welcoming - since it was their first day open, they had a limited option of All Day items and Dinner items. We had a reservation at 6pm - just FYI, the Dinner menu begins at 7pm, and the All Day menu ends at 6pm, so just beware there is an odd hour between the two which we were not aware of. However, our waiter was happy to accommodate and allowed us to snack on our starters until the Dinner menu began. We ordered the Rice Paper Rolls and Bao Buns off the All Day menu and some cocktails, which were fantastic. For Dinner, we ordered the Japanese risotto and the dumplings, both of which were like nothing I have ever eaten before and absolutely outstanding. We were (unfortunately) too full for dessert, but our waiter informed us they did have ice cream at the time. I only wish we were in Mykonos longer so we could’ve gone back!

Vegan gourmet food haven - Edit
Everything I tried at Koukoumi during my 5-day stay at their hotel was great. The seitan steak and desserts especially stood out to me. Oh, the scrambled tofu for breakfast. Also their smoothies/juices were delicious. Yum! To sum up: if you have the chance to go, go!
Read moreStaff were also lovely.
Only con for me: a bit too dimly lit for my taste. And the cheesy dishes were VERY cheesy, so if that’s not your sort of thing, pick something else from the menu. There’s plenty of options!

Vegan food to blow your mind - Edit
Arguably some of the best food I have ever eaten before and after going vegan.
Read moreKoukoumi is a brand new vegan hotel and restaurant in Ano Mera (buses go from Old Port, ask for the football stadium) and is actually the first and only hotel and restaurant of its kind I believe in all of Greece.
This is the closest my wife and I have come to fine dining and it has been the most wonderful experience. The hotel/restaurant staff are lovely and were extremely accommodating of all our questions and booking changes.
Do not be surprised by some of the smaller portions; this isn't a restaurant where you leave hungry if you don't make use of the bread basket! The chef who designed the menu knows exactly what she is doing and you leave more than full by the time you have forced a dessert in.
The chef is a young woman pushing boundaries and just being really smart with her cooking, bringing you dishes you loved before you went vegan and some that are totally new. She also teaches at a vegan academy.
We ate here 4 times and some dishes weren't to our taste - what's great is that this was simply because they just weren't for us, not because they were after-thought dishes so there was SOMETHING vegan on the menu. Other people would love what we didn't like much.
With Mykonos trailing behind for vegan cuisine this place is worth the journey and then some for some stunning food.
Highly recommended the Bouillabaisse and the ribeye seitan steak.
Pros: Entirely vegan, Exciting dishes, Vast menu

Vegan haven in Mykonos - Edit
Me and my wife were so relieved to have 4 nights of our holiday reserved for eating here. Mykonos in October is harder for vegans than it was when we were veggie a few years ago as most of the vegan recommendations were already closed...thank goodness for Koukoumi!

Ate here every day while staying for a week. The food is outstanding. Pastas, salads, fajitas, sushi, pizza, snacks and sandwiches, puddings… plus I have to mention the pancakes and buffet breakfast. Everything is homemade including the vegan cheeses which are incredible. Cocktails are delicious and beautifully made. Service is attentive and friendly.

Authentic Greek hospitality with modern amenities - Edit
Hands-down the best, high class, most innovative hotel in Mykonos. If I could give this hotel 6 stars I would! They take Greek hospitality very seriously and their whole team is incredibly gracious, kind, and go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need or want. The front staff helps book tours, car rentals, transport from the port/airport, etc — whatever you need!
Read moreThe hotel rooms are spacious, clean, chic aesthetic, with a fridge stocked with vegan snacks and seriously the most comfortable mattress in all of Greece.
It takes vegan to a new level— the amenities and furniture are vegan! They provide environmentally sustainable disposable products (like toilet paper, straws, etc). They are eco-conscious and seriously paving the way for the future of traveling and taking consideration of our planet.
They even have an elevator and a disability-accessible room — I’ve been to many Greek islands before and this is the first that I’ve seen!
I highly recommend staying at this hotel if you are looking to elevate your experience of Mykonos! We look forward to coming back next year.
Pros: Greek hospitality, service is 10/10, Attention to detail , Restaurant is highest quality on whole island

Wish this was in London - Edit
We’ve been here twice now over the last couple of days, for dinner and lunch, as it’s a short walk from our hotel. My meat-eating husband has enjoyed it. We’ve tried the guacamole starter, a generous portion, and pasta. I picked the carbonara as it’s obviously something I don’t eat anymore. Tasty and not overpowering as I thought it may be. We had the chocolate melt pudding and lemon pie. Usually I’d like the lemon best but choc won for me, with almond ice cream on the side. Today had the lentil fava, bread selection, koukoumi salad and hubby had the dumplings. May go a third time to check out the sushi. Also a great place to go being pregnant even if you’re not vegan as you don’t have to worry about cheeses, egg or seafood and they have a good range of juices, smoothies and mocktails.

The best vegan place I have ever been to - Edit
This place is unbelievable. In 1 week of being in Mykonos I came here with my sister 5 times. From starters to desserts the food is truly outstanding. They make their own cheeses which are incredible. The restaurant has a fine dining feeling but is still really relaxed and affordable. All of their dishes are phenomenal and the people who work here are truly amazing people who love vegan food. They are a gem in Mykonos, I would go back to Mykonos just to eat here. Thank you so much.

Extensive menu with multiple kinds of cuisines. We particularly enjoyed the gluten steak (having been on the islands for a few days, we had enjoyed tons of fresh veggies, but were ready for a big slab of gluten!). The staff was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed out poolside outside seating... the thatched overhang provided the perfect amount of shade.

We found our happy place - Edit
2 weeks flew by in Koukoumi and we are more than grateful for the kindness, love, and care we have experienced here. The first vegan hotel in Greece proved to be a second home run by a world-class team of wonderful people. From the most beautiful design, over the delicious 100% plant-based food to the amazing spa (the temple), we just loved everything about it. Most of all we felt like part of a like-minded community and appreciated the help with our little twins around the pool or in the restaurant. Not the easiest thing to travel with twin toddlers, but here it was smooth - almost always.
