Really delicious

We ordered a lot and everything was very tasty. The old lady couldn't speak English but some of the other guests helped us to communicate so we knew which dish is vegan and which dish is just vegetarian.

Tasty food!

Cute little restaurant on the second floor of Nakano Broadway. The lady running it doesn't speak any English but we muddled through with the help of others diners. The food was delicious and reasonably priced, she was impressed we had completely cleared our plates!

Great food, great atmosphere

Located on the 2nd floor of Nakano Broadway, this little place is a hidden gem. The owner is so sweet and friendly. I had the ‘special plate’ which include tofu, miso soup, rice and some other delicious bits (not sure what they were but loved it 😂) Everything is veggie but can easily be made vegan.

Pros: Good price. I paid only ¥1000 for my meal, Friendly, local atmosphere , Delicious food

Cons: Difficult to find , Owner doesn’t speak English

Charmed

Sweet, tiny corner restaurant with warm and friendly cook/waitress/proprietor. Review says English spoken, which wasn’t the case during our visit but it all worked out. Small selection to choose from. Ramen bowl was delicious, setting was quaint and will definitely go again.

Pros: Friendly & patient , Quaint setting , Delicious food

Cons: No English , Small set of choices

Fair

The place and the owner (and cook) are very nice, I enjoyed the old-fashioned and friendly atmosphere there. The daily set meal costs only 1000 yens and I was quite full. There were plenty of vegetables, which is good, but maybe I was unlucky but the meal was not that tasty and there was a very small amount of proteins in it. I will try again but was honestly a bit disappointed.

Pros: Nice place and people, Plenty of vegetables, Cheap

Cons: Not so tasty

Excellent Vegetarian Food in Nakano Broadway

This small restaurant was an excellent stop on our trip to Nakano. Located in the corner of the mall, this place has an entirely vegetarian friendly selection. The fake meats, the soup, everything about it was delicious. Worth the trip!

Nice little spot in Nakano

If you plan to explore Nakano/Nakano Broadway, definitely eat here. It's a really cute little restaurant run by one Taiwanese lady who cooks up pretty yummy vegetarian fare.

Note that although the restaurant serves egg, the first thing the owner asked us when we came in was whether or not we can eat egg. So despite her very limited English, she seemed very careful/flexible and conscious of vegan diets.

The cuisine here is heavily Japanese influenced Taiwanese food. It's simple yet tasty. I got the set meal with the katsu style cutlet, which came with soup, rice, pickles, miso-eggplant, and an omelette. The cutlet was incredibly delicious, and I really liked the omelette too, which was filled with onion pieces. My boyfriend ordered a cold noodle dish containing fresh veggies and minced mock meat, which was also really tasty, and a great option if you're getting sick of the fried mock meat that's at almost every vegan restaurant in Tokyo! Portions were decently sized and filled us up. We would definitely return if in the area again.

Pros: Tasty, Fairly cheap, Good portions

Cons: Limited hours, Only one woman working so a little slow, Essentially no English

Cute little restaurant with a lovely host

We arrived in Nakano, hungry and looking for something filling. Korinbo didn’t disappoint. We found it on the 2nd floor of Nakano Broadway, tucked in the back by the toy stores.

As the other reviews point out, the lady who owns the place doesn’t really speak English. She spoke enough to tell us which dishes had egg and which didn’t. We picked the top left dish on the set meal menu (based on the picture as there was no English). While we waited for our food to be prepared, we were served green tea.

When the food arrived, we were given a tray containing rice, pickles, a salad of pickled veg and beansprouts, a carrot and pumpkin soup, miso and some amazing bbq flavoured soy meat that I can still taste now. This was easily the best meal I’ve eaten all fortnight and it was a perfect lunch for the last day in Japan. I’d definitely recommend a trip here.

Pros: very friendly, comforting atmosphere

Great food, great owner

We checked the opening hours wrong and came in on sunday. The owner was in, preparing some things for monday. The doors were slightly opened, so we asked, when was she opening. She doesnt speak almost any english, but we understood it was closed. We must have looked very hungry, because after she saw us checking the phone for another restaurant, she came out with menu and pointed on some noodles, she could make for us. The noodles were delicious and she was very friendly, sitting beside us and trying to make conversation even though she knew little english and we little japan language. The menu isnt really in english, but it has pictures of what you are getting, so that is even better. Very reasonably priced and very good food.

Pros: Great Taiwanese food, Charming enviroment, Nice owner

Nice little cafe

Surprisingly easy to find in Nakano Broadway - we happened across it rather than having to search for it. We tried some sides rather than a set meal and they were so tasty and very reasonably priced. Wish we'd ordered more!

Pros: Lots of options, quick service, reasonable price,

Nice little spot in Nakano Broadway

So by now I have already had dinner here twice. I guess for me if I go to Nakano Broadway it's a must go restaurant.
The place is very small with just a bar sitting space area, but really cozy. The owner, who's the one preparing the food, is so lovely and helpful, and will kindly show you the options in the menu that do not contain egg, therefore vegan, which are the majority of them. The first day I went the daily menu was vegan, so I ordered that. Some plates are tastier than others but overall the food is very good and super well priced for quality, quantity and the "food made at home" feel to it. After eating here I felt very good so I appreaciate that too. I just really love this place!
Definitely give it a try if you're around Nakano.

Pros: Owner is very kind. Cozy. Good food, well priced.

hospitality and yum lunch!

After spending some time longer than we thought toy shopping, my husband and I were in some serious need of food quick. Located on level 2 just at the end of the mall we found Korinbo. The lady who owns it is SO lovely, it was like being looked after by a mum! She was so sweet to us with recommendations for vegan (me) and vege options. The food was prepared entirely by her and we were given green tea while waiting. The food was filling, I got something fried, some streamed Veges, some pickled Veges, rice and a broth. The owner gives you tips on which condiments to use on what etc while you are eating. I was really full. My lunch cost around 970 yen, which I think was the average here.

Too oily, not accomodating

I used to live very close by- I loved how there was a vegan restaurant in Nakano Broadway, but I am a health-focused vegan, and I avoid added oils, especially vegetable oil. When I asked if she (the owner/cook) could make the dish with little to no oil, she glared at me, made her "least oily dish", which was still too greasy to eat. I ended up just paying and not eating, so she asked me not to come back.(I didn't even complain to her!! Or at all. I just didn't eat it.)

Pros: Location

Cons: greasy, bad service, tiny/no space

good taiwanese-style home cooking

Korinbo is the place to go to if you're in the mood for some homestyle cooking. The owner is a friendly Taiwanese lady (incidentally her brother is world-renowned artist TF Chen) and coming to eat here is like being served a meal at her home. The menu is fairly limited consisting of maybe 5-6 items but it is all very good and all vegetarian. I'm not sure if the owner speaks English but the menu items are all accompanied with pictures. I recommend trying their teishoku or higaeri set meals. Adding to the homely feel is the space, which is tiny. It seats maybe 6 at most, seated around a counter, so it's not a place to go to if you're in a large group. I've been coming to Korinbo for over five years and it's always on my list of places to go whenever I'm in Tokyo. It's located in Nakano Broadway mall which is a mecca for anime/tokusatsu geeks if you're into that sort of thing.

It's a little hard to find, but here are rough directions: Get off at Nakano station and take the north exit. Follow the path 50m to the brightly lit walkway of covered shops and continue walking for another 200-300m. Eventually you'll see a sign overhead for Nakano Broadway and an escalator. Don't take the escalator as it goes to the 3rd floor. Instead veer right and take the stairs to the 2nd floor. Head to the NW corner of the mall. If you have trouble finding it, look for 香林坊 on the mall map.

Pros: friendly staff, good value

Cons: tiny
