Serves meat, vegan options available. Brewery produces vegan beers. Has vegan appetizers such as guacamole and hummus, in addition to offering a vegan macadamia nut pesto with some of the menu items. Vegan items are not clearly marked on menu. Vegetarian items can easily be made vegan. Staff is knowledgeable and accommodating when asking for vegan dishes.

Only apps, no vegan entrees - Edit
We had beers and ordered edamame and chips and guacamole. But we were served a Mediterranean type platter with hummus, vegetables (and feta cheese). Not sure if the mistake was ours or the server’s (but it was good, nonetheless). Wish there was more than just appetizers because were big fans of the beer!

Newly remodeled kitchen, very good pizza - Edit
We went the first week the newly remodeled kitchen was open. The pizza was very good, and the beer was great. The restaurant was pretty busy, 30 minute wait to sit outside but we found a table inside almost right away.

Come for the beer and that's it - Edit
Unless you count hummus and edamame there are zero vegan options, so pop in for a drink and go elsewhere for food!

Not What It Used To Be - Edit
Pre-pandemic, KBC had several salads, appetizers and the choice to design your own pizza. Staff were willing to handle vegan requests. We visited in February 2023, and there are no vegan options anymore. There is only one salad on the menu - a Caesar salad. You can order the Caesar salad without the dressing, cheese and croutons (you get a plate of romaine). There is one vegetable pizza you can order without cheese. The staff were not willing to take requests except for “no cheese” and “no dressing.”

Great Atmosphere - Edit
Love the jungle atmosphere of Kona Brewing Company. Several vegetarian options and staff very willing to make adjustments to items to make vegetarian. Delicious pizzas and salads and nice to have a cider option.

Great beer and good food - Edit
Updated after 2nd visit: my original review below was written during a restricted covid visit. I’ve been back since and the pizza has greatly improved. You can build your own delicious vegan pizza with a multitude of toppings. They also have a vegan macadamia nut pesto sauce YUM! The garden salad was big enough to share and was very fresh. And of course their beer is delicious. Will go back!

Listen, if you like good beer, then come here. You'll need food to keep your sobriety in check, but really you're here for the beer. The pizza, which they claim is made from the spent grain, just isn't as good as it was 4 years ago. And while there are plenty of vegetarian options, it's hard for a vegan to get a complete meal.

Genuinely terrible - Edit
The vegan burger with no yogurt sauce is vegan.... but wow, it was not good. Almost not edible. Yeah it was that bad. I would skip this place for sure.

Went here for my hubby's birthday. He enjoyed the beer and we shared a veggie pizza sans cheese. Pizza was pretty good. I really likes the roasted garlic cloves on top!

Great...IF you don’t want vegan pizza - Edit
I’ll preface this review with saying that if you’re wanting vegan pizza, Kona Brewing Co is not the place to go (try Bianelli’s, Herbivore’s, or Get Sum instead). Kona Brewing Co doesn’t currently have vegan cheese, and while their pizzas are great even without cheese, they’re not cheap. When I want that Kona Brewing Co pizza experience, I just buy their pizza dough from the Growler Shack outside the restaurant and bake it at home with my own toppings. I went into this meal knowing that they didn’t have vegan cheese, and not intending to order pizza. I got the Garden Veggie sandwich without the chipotle yogurt dressing and loved it! I expected the sandwich, which felt more like a veggie burger than a sandwich to me, to be dry and bland without the sauce but I was wrong! The chickpea patty was delicious, and while the lettuce and tomato on it weren’t totally fresh, they piled the toppings on and the roasted red onions were the perfect. I ordered chips as my side and they were surprisingly good, as well.

Great beer and excellent service, but not many vegan options - Edit
We went here because of mostly positive reviews from this app, but ended up getting a cheese-less pizza that wasn’t great. This place seems great for meat eaters but I wouldn’t recommend it to vegans or vegetarians. In my opinion it shouldn’t be listed on Happy Cow.

Great experience - Edit
My fiance and I went for dinner. I got pizza with bbq sauce, extra pineapple, and no cheese and it was delicious. The crust is awesome, I asked the server if there was dairy or eggs (before I ordered) in it and he said no very confidently which felt good. We also got pretzel bites to share and I used the mustard for dipping. They also had a roasted veggie and hummus sandwich that looked good with a few changes of course ;) I would definitely recommend going. It would be nice though if they made more vegan options.

Nice vibe, medium food - Edit
Pizza dough is vegan so I had a veggie pizza with no cheese and it was good. Don’t forget to tell them no mozzarella AND no parmesan. The menu isn’t particularly vegan friendly, but as others have noted there are a few options. Our hummus plate had cheese on it so be sure to ask them to hold the cheese.

I didn't know their macadamia pesto was vegan, nor that they had a separate place on the menu, but there were lots of choices for dinner.

good beer, service sucked. - Edit
Beer was good, service at the bar was friendly and quick. Only reason I am giving 3 stars. Food was below average according to my non-vegan partners, I could not eat. Server rolled his eyes when asked for hot chilis and parm. Ordered a “vegan” pizza, was covered with cheese. He did comp us the pizza, but I left hungry and ate elsewhere.

I had the guacamole app and humus app. Both were good. My humus app came wth feta cheese after I explained to the server that I was vegan. I would be very clear wth servers here about what it means to be vegan.

vegan beer & snack - Edit
We are here whist in Kona, great lively atmosphere & you may have to wait for a table in busy busy times, indoor & outdoor seating. Waiter understood vegan & advised what I could choose form menu, limited but at least I could eat along with trying the beers
