Cocina japonesa diferente

Customizable for delicious Vegan dishes

In Mérida, the lovely little Japanese/Mexican fusion restaurant Kofuku is a work of art, as are the dishes served. They specialize in quick meals (offering foods to-go, as well as dine in), but there is no sacrifice of simple elegance and dedication to very high quality foods served on beautiful plates and bowls, each with an artful touch. The glass noodle bowl, rich with edamame beans, is delicately filling. The gyoza dumplings, served as four on a bed of cabbage and lettuce, are elegantly topped with puree of avocado and tomato salsa. My companion enjoyed vegetarian cheese poppers. We enjoyed conversation with the proprietor, who eloquently explains each dish as well as the mission of this franchise restaurant, which includes customizing menu selection for any preferences, certainly including Vegan. The evening concluded by adding our wishes on little tags to the wall of hundreds, a Japanese tradition. This cozy street side venue was a delight in every way. The only disappointment: no sake! We were assured they are working toward a liquor license. I highly recommend Kofuku!

Pros: Customizable, Personal service, Artistic presentation

Cons: No sake
