Nice - Edit
It’s good I do think a lot of the ingredients are similar to Vandal but they do it well in a Japanese fusion style. Get the banquet otherwise it’s not worth it. Fun experience

Hi Yo Silverware - Edit
I was excited about trying this place, and we met some friends here for an occasion and sat in the heated outdoor area. My first drink was a very nice yuzu sour, which was a bit like a spicy margarita. From there the drinks were increasingly disappointing - quite samey. Three of us decided to go for the degustation menu, the components of which ranged from amazing to average to a bit lame. Standouts were the crispy rice squares, with their delicious nori flavour (and the salmon and mayo), the chargrilled corn and the prawn katsu maki roll. At one point the waiter brought out a little pile of cucumber and we were like “is that for one person?” It turned out to be three coiled strips of marinated vegetable, pleasant enough, but a little delicate for me. Im sure the waiters must have identified each dish, but this escaped me and I’d have liked it to be a bit clearer. While the degustation was not a complete joke like that served in a certain plant-based fine-dining restaurant in Sydney, I wasn’t exactly stuffed after it. I had to try all the desserts and we shared these among three. I didn’t have high expectations of the passionfruit panna cotta, as vegan ones are often quite rubbery or cartilaginous, but this one was creamy, light and delicious. The serving of donuts was huge, and they were crisp but soft, very nice with the serve of gelato. The crème brûlée was nice enough but probably last on my list. I would certainly come back for another special dinner and try other tempting dishes on the menu. However, while I did generally enjoy my experience here, it wasn’t quite as amazing as I had anticipated.

is this the best vegan food in Sydney? - Edit
This is perhaps the best quality vegan food I have had in Sydney. The flavours are spot on and the attention to detail is great - each dish seems like it was well thought out and texture plays a big role in the food.
Read moreI really loved the food here - their omakase was exceptional value at only $35 for eight plates.
Best dish for me was the squid nigiri. it has a good kick of spice but it was just perfect. the resemblance to squid was unbelievable
Great place definitely coming back
Pros: sashimi , parsnip korokke, squid nigiri

Every plate; photo worthy - Edit
Beautifully presented sushi, fresh and tasty veg, o.k. staff, location and atmosphere. I found that their “raw fish”/“salmon” dishes usually used too much mayo which I personally wasn’t a fan of - no balance of flavour and I felt like it was often overtaken by mayo-y flavour. The squid nigiri and mushroom nigiri were definitely highlights.
Read moreDefinitely opt for the set menu for a variety of dishes, and extra sushi pieces on the side as it’s much better value…we had one party who got the set menu and one who didn’t and the dollars of the dishes definitely added up…

4 stars (only coz I’m not a fan of mock fish) - Edit
Top place to dine if you love sushi/sashimi and Japanese style hand rolls etc. I’m unfortunately not a fan of anything with a fishy flavor so even nori is pushing my boundaries 🤪 my problem. But, everyone loved it. Our non vegan well traveled/dined friends enjoyed it very much. Lovely space with gentle lighting and quiet spaces. Great services and well priced particularly the Omakasi (set menu). My pics are the non ‘seafood’ ones but everything was presented beautifully.

Sensational addition to Sydney's vegan scene - Edit
Delicious food, this new entry is so good. We have had both the summer and now winter Omakase menus and every dish is consistently amazing.
Read moreIt seems small from the outside but there are extra rooms inside to dine in so would also be great for groups and at $35 for a set menu (25 if you jump on a special you spot on their instagram!) Kimusabi is one to put on your list when you come to Sydney.
BONUS: Greens vegan Supermarket right next door (same owner, also owns Vandal on King St so you know this is a trio of something exceptional)
Pros: Food, Omakase menu, Staff

I've come here twice now, both times with non-veg people. They've always loved it! Definitely get the set tasting menu for either lunch or dinner - incredible value for money (was about $35 when we went). Food is super fresh and creative

Absolutely get on it - Edit
This is probably the highlight of our short trip to Sydney. We got the set menu of 8 dishes, some of which I forgot to get pics of because we were too busy devouring them. Some of the highlights included a seared squid nigiri, a sensational celeriac situation, and a grilled corn number that was tastier than I thought corn could ever be, and I am a big fan of corn and grew up in corn-farming country so I feel qualified to judge. The seafood elements of all the dishes were lovely. Seafood was one of the things I really had to commit to giving up when I went vegan years ago as I used to love it, so it was a joy to try vegan alternatives that were actually so much better than dead animal seafood. The service here was really good, and I was surprised by the relatively low price for the quality of the food and experience. The pros far outweighed the con of having a wobbly seat that absolutely could not contain my behind.

Incredibly overpriced - Edit
Much more reasonable priced and just as good sushi can be found elsewhere in Sydney. $9 for 2 tiny nigiri rolls is just insane. $14 or more for 4 tiny pieces of a maki roll.

First time trying this place out. Got the omakase (8 courses for $35 which we thought was amazing value) and it was all so delicious. My favourite was the crispy rice square with t*na tartare. The t*na was mind boggling... so juicy and full of flavour. My partners fav was the seared sq!d nigiri. But honestly every. Single. Thing. Was amazing.

Will definitely be adding Kimusabi to our regular rotation!
