Good food

I went for lunch twice in July 2024. They have a meal of the day Monday through Friday that currently costs $4. Today's meal included a bowl of soup, glass of tea, a small dessert, and the main plate which had six different items (green beans, chili, carrots, salad, plantain slices, white rice) although nearly half of the plate was covered in white rice. The portions of the other items on the plate were kind of small. The rice was a bit undercooked as it was sometimes crunchy. The flavors were good although a bit mild. Service was friendly.

Cons: A lot of rice, and small portions of other items

Might be closed

I just visited Quito for a week. I walked past this place at least 5x during listed business hours and never once saw it open. I also sent a Whatsapp to the number listed and got no response. It's possible they are just on an extended break, but I thought others might like to know Kawa does not seem to be reliably open, at least right now.

They moved a while ago... The new location is at the corner of La Niña and La Rábida. I just had lunch at this location and they were open (July 2024)

Lovely place inside cultural space

I did like the nice atmosphere of the whole restaurant.
There is as well a wonderful yard where you can eat outside. It is shared with a cultural center called "El Utero".
The staff is friendly. Good music.
The food was tasty and nice presentation.
