Struggled to find vegan options while visiting Wissembourg so we were thrilled when we found this near by. The waiter was struggled with English but tried very hard to help translate and was so friendly! The menu was challenging to understand but waiter did a great job explaining. I got the vegan schnitzel burger with grilled veggies on it and sweet potatoes fries on the side and my husband got a vegan pizza with chicken strips (can’t remember the name) but everything was DELICIOUS. I was skeptical at the beginning because there was soooo many options on their full menu I didn’t know how they could possibly do the vegan menu justice but they blew it out of the park. So happy with the food and service😄

Es gab wirklich sehr viele vegane und auch glutenfreie Gerichte zur Auswahl. Der Inhaber ist sehr freundlich und hilft gerne weiter. Wir haben unser Essen genossen! Wir hatten einen Burger und Nudeln mit Pfifferlingen und Tomaten. Sehr lecker und sättigend!

Kleine Perle in fleischiger Umgebung - Edit
Die gewählten Gerichte waren wirklich lecker und die Auswahl unerwartet groß (durch geschickte Kombination der ohnehin vorhandenen Zutaten). Es gibt Burger mit Gemüseschitzel, Cordon Bleu oder Falafel entweder mit salatigen Zutaten oder mit gegrilltem Gemüse. Dazu Pommes, Kartoffelecken oder Süßkartoffelpommes. Zur Wahl stehen außerdem verschiedene Brötchen. Dieselben "Pattys" gibt es dann auch als Gericht. Außerdem gibt es noch Pizza und Pasta. Daneben gibt es auch vegetarische und fleischhaltige Gerichte (ein Gericht mit Fisch wurde ebenfalls verzehrt und als sehr delikat beschrieben).
Read moreEine Besonderheit ist, dass es keine alkoholischen Getränke gibt, aber es GIBT diverse Sorten Bier, Rot- und Weißwein sowie Cocktails - alles alkoholfrei. Und das natürlich neben Wasser, Limo,Säften und Heißgetränken.
Eigentümer und Bedienung sind sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend und erklären und beraten. Das Essen kam sehr schnell. Außerdem ist das Lokal gut gelegen direkt am Marktplatz und hat auch draußen viele Tische.
Die Portionen haben uns gesättigt. Die Preise sind im Vergleich mit den Fotos allerdings um einige Euro gestiegen.

Das andere Lokal, tunesischer Inhaber der aufmerksam und zugewandt zu jedem Gericht viel zu sagen weiß - Augen schließen und sich einfach mitnehmen lassen. Essen ist einwandfrei, Biere sind alkoholfrei und speziell gepimpt. Jederzeit wieder.

As I had a hearty and filling meal before, I tended to get a salad, but friendly and outgoing owner Kamel told me to get a salad at home and choose one of their specials. Haha, how right, I got the pizza with grilled veg, vegan cheese, vegan cordon bleu and fermented tofu (“Feto” by German tofu brand Taifun).
Crazy combination, I wouldn’t make at home, haha.
Nevertheless very good, my husband enjoyed a vegetarian pizza.
The pizza isn’t Italian style, whether has an american crust, it’s more like in my imagination a very good delivery-pizza should be (unfortunately most of the time not the case).
The base is very thin, dough from the crust is pretty uniform and more crispy than soft, but not over baked.
My husband and I missed a little more salt on the pizza, which is weird, as foods like these ALWAYS contain more than enough salt.
They don’t serve alcohol, perfectly fine for me as I don’t drink, but maybe a little disappointing for some who enjoy a glass of wine or cold beer with that hearty kind of food.
I got a surprise-non alcoholic drink made by owner, with some minty-anise aroma, a little to sweet for me personally, but yummy and refreshing!
It’s great that the small city of Bad Bergzabern has a restaurant with (not accidentally) so many extraordinary vegan options.
Pros: Many vegan extraordinary creations

Mehr als 3 Seiten umfasst allein die vegane Karte - hinzu kommen nochmal genauso viele vegetarische und omnivore Gerichte.
Read moreDer Hauptaugenmerk liegt auf Pizza, pasta und Burger, es gibt aber auch Salate und z. B. eine vorzügliche (vegane) Linsensuppe. Selbst glutenfrei ist möglich.
Sehr gutes preis-Leistungsverhältnis und auch die Portionsgröße der Gerichte lässt niemanden hungrig gehen.
Sehr kinderfreundliche und angenehme Atmosphäre, die einlädt wiederzukommen. Aufmerksamer Chef, nette Crew, die Gerichte können auch angepasst werden.
Sehr leckere alkoholfreie Cocktails und auch alkoholfreien Wein gibt es.

We had planned to visit the Kamels for quite a long time. But as we finally fond the time on a Sunday, we were too early and the Kamels was still closed. But as the Staff recognized the situation, the open just for us. All the time of the visit, the stuff was very kind. We could choose from lots of vegan options. I had chosen the number 242, vegan penne with champignons. The portions was okay, but there were only a few champignons in the meal. I would like to have more champignions and perhaps something like Rucola in addition. So the penne were a bit boring. But all in all, it was okay, but a bit pricey. The ambience doesn't really for a restaurant, which is another miss fit to the prices. But all in all, the Kamels is definitely worth a visit.

Kamels have a truly impressive separate vegan menu and even offers glutenfree options at a surcharge. I went for the vegan schnitzel burger, which looked amazing with the activated carbon-coloured bun I chose. And it also tasted absolutely amazing! It was very filling with the accompanying potato wedges and their homemade cocktail sauce - nice to get homemade sauce instead of ketchup! The staff were very friendly and accomodating. It´s a bit of a shame that the vegan dishes are rather expensive (e.g. € 13.90 for a vegan burger) given that the restaurant is situated in a small town and the interior design is a mix of different styles. But all in all Kamels is definitely highly recommended due to their huge vegan menu!

New Location, same delicious food! - Edit
I've loved Kamel's food when he was still located in Landau. Now with the new location comes a gorgeous view of a historic church and a modern flair.

Most vegan options are also organic, the fries are heavenly and if you want to pamper yourself, try the falafel. Delicious!

Great Vegan Menu, many choices - Edit
Suprisingly large vegan menu considering the rural area and the Burger-character of the restaurant: They have several different vegan burgers, salads and other pasta, pizza and schnitzel dishes. The owner Kamel is extremely accomodating and friendly and put a lot of thought into the dishes, adding e.g. vegan dips and cheese. Perfect if you crave a burger, with choices between veggies, soy and falafel patties. YUM!
