Hit the spot!

A cute traditional tofu restaurant only open for lunch. It’s run by a husband and wife and they are very kind. The prices are very reasonable. I got the set meal - which offered tofu made 8 different ways with rice and miso soup. It was amazing and I would definitely recommend. It’s in the prime location of Bikan historical district. They are cash only so make sure to take out some yen at a local 7/11

Pros: Amazing food options, Free tea when you sit down, Kind owners

Veggie friendly tofu restaurant

Amazing Tofu Varieties

I found this restaurant by chance while I was in Kurashiki. It is run by an elderly couple and serves exclusively tofu dishes. They have a small menu consisting of only six dishes to choose from. I chose the Kamadaya set which was the biggest set for 2000 ¥. Everything except the rice and pickles were tofu varieties. I was amazed at how many variants in traditional Japanese cuisine there are to use tofu! The old lady explained to me that everything on my plate was tofu. There was one vegetarisn dish (Donburi topped with egg) but from what I could see everything else was vegan. The atmosphere at the small restaurant was very nice because there were no other tourists, just locals. No English menu.

Pros: Tofu dishes, so everything safe for Vegetarian, Most dishes vegan, Authentic Japanese food
