Very good British version of Asian fusion food - Edit
Jumon serves very nice food and has a large menu, which is almost completely vegan (there was a single dish with honey in it). The food is a European / British version of asian fusion food, everything we ordered tasted great.
Read moreIt is a bit pricey though at 12.50 for a main and 7.50 for a small dish - we shared 1 main and 3 smalls with 2 people and that felt about right for dinner.

Mod Asian - Edit
Update: They now have a pop up restaurant in the York Inn, Portstewart. Same dishes mostly with a few additions but the portion size is way smaller. Basically it's jumon tapas. Menu didn't really explain that but the speed of service was lightning fast so you can add on as you go. Quality of food very high but as it was their first night opening and lot of people found out there was a bit of confusion throughout. Not that it caused unresolved problems - got everything we ordered. Bill also wasn't huge, pleasingly. Worth a try! Pic of menu uploaded.
Read moreVery good. Northern Ireland has got used to a kind of restaurant good we call "Chinese" that relies on sauces and fried food. Whilst tasty, you get more or less the same old dishes everywhere with what seems to be the same mix of carrot, onion, bamboo shoots and baby sweetcorn from the lazier outlets for veggie options.
Jumon has already innovated in a crowded marketplace. Looking like it comes straight out of the movie "big trouble in little China", as soon as you sit down you are offered a cup of spiced tea.
Take it from there and no matter what you are ordering you'll get a flavourful take in fresh pan-asian cuisine taking in spices, herbs and fresh vegetables.
Nothing is overpowering, nor are the portions giant but the flavours full and delicious.
The unusual ingredients and unfamiliar tastes were really refreshing and vibrant. Really enjoyed everything I ordered. It came quickly and tasted sublime.
A real unusual and vibrant take on vegetarian food for Belfast. Not too spicy or overpowering.
They also checked with me that cheese was OK for me - my option wasn't vegan, plenty were clearly labelled vegan however. They also modified the food for one of my party's dietary requirements with no hassle. A great place.

Amazing Vegan Food - Edit
I visited Jumon for the first time last week and I was blown away.
Read moreSuch a brilliant range of vegan food, mains and sides as well as vegan cocktails.
We split some starters, Veggie Gyozas and KMP which is chips with a spicy topping (delish)
then I had the Laksa and my friends had the Ramen and Tacos. The Laksa was unreal, huge portions, really well presented, it was spicy but loads of flavour.
The prices are pretty reasonable especially for the size of the portions.
This is definitely the best vegan / plant based food in Belfast.
The service here is also brilliant and I would recommend to anyone in Belfast or visiting.
Pros: Amazing Food, Huge Portions, Range of plant based food available

My favourite spot to eat in Belfast - Edit
Jumon is an Asian vegetarian restaurant and my favourite spot to eat in the city, located just five-minutes away from Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter, making it ideal for dinner before heading out to get some well-deserved drinks.
Read moreThe décor inside gives off an urban feel, with paintwork on the walls that I felt was a representation of the famous street art found throughout the city.
Being a vegetarian restaurant, most of their menu is already naturally vegan. Plenty of their vegetarian options can be made vegan by removing certain ingredients, while only a small handful can’t be. All are clearly labelled as ‘vegan’ or ‘vegan adaptable’.
Everything my girlfriend and I ordered was delicious and tasted freshly cooked. Quick service and friendly staff made the experience very pleasant. The only downside is the starters we ordered, though very tasty, were very expensive for the amount we got. Six gyozas came to around £8, while my main came to £9.50.
Pros: Wide range of vegan options, Vegetarian dishes can easily be made vegan, Urban decor made for a comfortable atmosphere
Cons: Expensive starters

Jumon is one of my favourite places to go. The asian vegan/vegetarian menu is a delight, and has something for everyone. My favourite is the Gado Gado. So fresh, and the flavours are amazing. There are so many dishes to get excited about, and I can't recommend this restaurant enough. Friendly staff just make the whole experience a pleasure!

Muy caro para la cantidad que ponen. Pedí expresamente que mi plato no fuera picante y casi echo fuego por la boca. La comida no es gran cosa. Relación calidad precio no está ajustada.

All their food is vegetarian and a lot of it even vegan. The menu is clearly labeled as vegan/veganizable/gluten-free. Everything we had was great and the staff was super nice and friendly and explained the spice levels of the food before taking our order (we would have chosen something to spicy otherwise).

Worth Checking Out - Edit
We were both given the vegetarian versions of the "vegan adaptable" dishes we ordered, even though we specifically asked for the vegan versions. They were very apologetic though and offered us free drinks (and got us the vegan versions at no extra charge). My partner and I had different opinions of the dishes we got; she loved hers, I hated mine, so.. Also, be warned that this place doesn't open on a Tuesday.

Good chips - Edit
Despite the restaurant being empty I was asked to sit by a draughty window, were rain seeped through. The pad thai had two pieces of tofu in it along with miniscule amount of carrot and courgette. The tamarind was over powering and far too sweet. There was little evidence of chilli, peanuts or ginger. The noodles tasted as if they were reheated in warm water and covered in a slime paste. I ordered some kimchi (fermented cabbage South Korean style), what I got was chips covered in a chilli flaked aubergine in tomato sauce. The chips underneath it were really well seasoned and very tasty. The lemon and mint tea was very refreshing. The staff were pleasant but because the food was so disappointing I wouldn't recommend this for Asian food. You can do better over by the cathedral quarter for dinner.
