Unbelievable

AMAZING NOODLES! The whole restaurant is vegan and has so many choices to chose from like noodles, pasta, personal pizzas and appetizers! The owner is very kind and came to talk to my group. Overall, will definitely come back.

Pros: Everything was so tasty and amazing.

Amazing food

There are many options of pastas, bowls, and pizzas & they’re amazing!!!!! One of the best places I visited on vacation in Cali. Definitely give this place a visit. It’s takeout but they have one long table if you want to eat there. Julie is so welcoming! It’s great to support small vegan businesses.

Delicious food great service

I love Julie Goes Green. I go often with my partner. The food is delicious and it is a wonderful family owned business that recently closed and reopened fully vegan. They let me make substitutions as well!

Pros: All vegan , Delicious!

Cons: Can’t go with a big group.

Didn't like food

Are there once with my partner and daughter. We had high hopes for good vegan Italian food. None of us liked what we got. We felt bad because obviously some effort went into this place and the owner is such a nice lady. Too bad the cooking isn't there, the primary thing I expect from a restaurant is good food.

Some Good, Some Bad

I've only been here twice, but here's my take

The Good:
• All vegan menu. I used to live 2 blocks away when it was just "Julie's Pizzeria". Not sure if its a market trend or philosophical shift by Julie, but I commend her for flipping an entire restaurant to go all plant-based. Really cool to see in an area that is dominated by meat eater restaurants.
• The inside is very nice and new. Small with only one communal table, but a cool feel.
• The buffalo drum sticks were REALLY good. It's essentially the same "meat" that The Vegan Joint uses for their drum sticks, but the portion here was much bigger on the stick and there's plenty of them. It's almost a meal in itself. Buffalo sauce is perfect. What I really love though is the stick the meat is on is edible. Not sure what it is...white carrot, potato, etc., but it's nice to not have the wing on some wasteful piece of wood.
• The pizza dough was really good. I'm originally a NYC pizza snob and the crust is what makes a good pizza. Most places do a very average job, but this was actually very good.
• The meatballs are really good. I'm fairly sure they just use Gardein meatballs based on the taste, but that's just an assumption. If they're housemade then they nailed the Gardein recipe and it's pretty good.
• Staff was all super nice and friendly.

I hate to criticize any place that is all vegan. In fact, I give a minimum 2-3 stars just for that. But there are a few key bummers about this place.

The Bad:
• Prices. Apps, salads and sandwiches are actually pretty spot on in my opinion, but the pizza prices are just ridiculously high. I paid $20 for a SMALL "Julie's Favorite" (always start with the owner/chef fav in a new place). A single entree for $20 at a place that is not a sit-down restaurant and is aiming to be a fast casual/take-out place is pretty nuts. The dough was great and the flavors were good, but it's clearly Follow Your Heart mozzarella (which I like, but if I'm paying $20 I'd expect a Miyoko's quality vegan cheese). They might be better off trying to go pizza by-the-slice.
• Super slow. I don't mind a wait for good vegan food, but both times I was the only one there and waited longer than the average takeout place.
• Not enough sauce or cheese on the meatball sandwich

I'll definitely go again to support an all vegan restaurant in Palms, but needs some improvements.

Pros: All vegan, Good pizza dough, Wings

Cons: Some pricey items not worth it, Slow

I don’t know what to say

The garlic bread is very good, but just six very small pieces for six dollars. Definitely not worth it. The fettuccine is very nice, not exceptionally good, but still good. It was cashew based and had a strong after taste of sourish tomato, possibly from the dried tomatoes on top. My husband had a pizza, for one topping on a 10inch pizza; the price goes from 13 dollars to 23. The topping he had was lightlife pepperoni... the cheese was follow your heart, nothing too special especially for the price. I would give it a two out of five, and hope others do not make the same mistake as we did by thinking the pizza cheese would be gourmet as well as the pepperoni.

Pros: Decent Staff, Sells BeLeaf Jerky, Fast food

Cons: Extremely overpriced , Not Fresh Food

Full refund

We just had to laugh..The reviews on this place are phenomenal, unfortunately our experience was not.
We ordered two salads, a soup, and a entrée.
Our soup came out and the waiter said "it's really hot" it was not. My wife took bite, she said it has a weird after taste, I took a sip and it was definitely out of a can. She sent it back to kitchen.
Our salads came out, the caesar salad looked very unfresh, my spinach salad was so bland with the canned black olives, canned garbanzo beans, and old tomatoes on the bottom of the plate. The pesto pasta came out like soup the noodles way over cooked, drowning it some of the worst pesto I've ever tasted.
At this point we are over it and decided not to eat any of the food and asked for a refund.
They gave us our refund, and some cookies to go.
On our drive home my wife bites into one and says, this is a Trader Joe's brown bag vegan cookie and start laughing.

They were nice enough to refund our money.

Pros: All vegan

Cons: Super expensive , Not fresh food , Soup out of a can

Hate giving bad reviews but...

I really wanted to like this place but...

I live 30 mins away so I called and put in an order on the way to my daughters acting school for 2 pizzas. When I get there they deny anyone ordered pizza and said I must have ordered from Pizza Hut next door. Finally they admit they forgot about the order or lost it by which time I’ve got to get to the class.
After class I decide to try again. I call letting them know I’m the same customer from earlier and they say ok but it’s a 45 minute wait. Seriously can’t move me up since you forgot my order earlier? I order anyway cuz I really want to try the food. Eventually they hand me my large (?) and small pizza. The boxes literally feel empty. I tip anyway which brings the total to $51. Me and my 12 year old ate both entire pizzas and I’m still hungry and the pizza was not good. I pray their pasta dishes are better but won’t be back to find out. If you want pizza go to cruzers or vegan pizza or anywhere else and get your moneys worth.

I feel terrible but maybe some bad reviews will wake them up to pricing/food quality/customer service improvements so they can stay in business?

Pros: Vegan food

Cons: Expensive/small portion , Customer service , Food flavor underwhelming

For what it's worth, we ordered the pasta and wondered if we should have gotten the pizza. I don't understand how they have so many five star reviews.

Overpriced overly slow

Was looking for vegetarian lunch with my family and decided to try something new. Took over an hour to receive our pasta, which was barely edible, and priced to match the fanciest restaurants in town. Would never come back. Would rate them one star if allowed.

Pros: Vegetarian

Cons: Overpriced, Slow, Small

A welcomed addition

Saw this on happycow and gave it a go a few weeks ago. Was back again this week. Here's my Julie Goes Green review.

I was told that this had been a regular non-veg pizza shop before the owners decide to convert it to a vegan restaurant. It's a small little shop that's mostly set up for takeaway. There is one communal table to sit and eat at, and you share it with other diners.

My friend liked the eggplant parmesan dish. We shared two of the pizzas: the marinara with basil was delicious; the house special with tempeh and a bunch other toppings was much too salty. I did like that the pizzas had thin crusts and were crispy.

We also shared the fettucine alfredo with a cashew cheese sauce - this was my favorite dish; and the penne pesto was tasty but too salty. Garlic bread with marinara dip was ok.

Pros: thin crust pizza, fettucine alfredo, vegan

Cons: much salt

Boom, I found my Italian oasis

Wow, that was delicious. I had the Chick'n Parmigiana and I was more than satisfied. I'm so glad I found this lovely Italian place, and so close to home, in this land of Indian and Thai. I love the atmosphere and the mission of community too. Looking forward to coming back to enjoy some more great food, and connecting with compassionate locals!

Pros: All vegan now - yum!, Great vibe, Julie is incredibly welcoming

Cons: Limited seating but really wasn't a problem for me

Great Food- Family Atmosphere

We ordered two pizzas - Julie’s Favorite and The Buffalo Cauliflower- both were delicious! We can’t wait to try the other Italian food on the menu. Julie and her sister make it feel like home - great addition to the Palms neighborhood

Pros: Vegan Italian!

Try out this new place

Was with a Vegan friend looking for a place for dinner. Found this little place on Palms. It felt very different once you walk in there. It feel like home... They only have one table for 8 people. Mostly takeout. We were so hungry and order a lot. The food was great. They have there own home made recipes. Very different experience. Will try again.

Pros: Food id good, price is reasonable, Home made feel

Cons: Only one table

Love it! Love it! Love it! So happy to find this vegan pizza place!

Julie’s favorite is so good, and the chicken parmigiana pasta was phenomenal. The calamari is made of fresh coconut dipping in sweet & sour sauce was a perfect combination. Strongly recommend it. Will come back to try the other dishes.

Pros: Everything is vegan with gluten-free option., Not only pizza but lots of pasta option as well., Pizza is authentic hand toss New York style.
