A Vegan’s Delight with Room for Improvement

Upon my discovery of Jasper's, I was pleasantly surprised to find a menu accommodating plant-based diets. A variety of dishes could be transformed into vegan delights with simple substitutions of meat or dairy alternatives, alongside a few exclusively vegan items. This inclusive gesture was clearly marked on the menu, easing the ordering process for individuals with dietary preferences.

My culinary journey began with the Chimichurri tofu, mango & pineapple salsa, miso & coriander pesto starter. The dish presented a pate-like consistency that was both tasteful and texturally pleasing. Set atop a bed of greens, the flavors married well, though a piece of bread or a toast slice would have been a delightful addition to balance the plate.

The main course, a Grilled vegan steak, was something I had been eyeing since stumbling upon this restaurant mid-trip from Dublin. As a former carnivore, my quest for the perfect vegan steak has been relentless and adventurous. Jasper's did a commendable job in this arena. The presentation was immaculate, yet the dish slightly fell short on the flavor profile. The vegan steak had a texture resembling meatloaf, being a tad dry although improving towards the center. Accompanying side dishes were satisfactory, albeit a bit starchy. A suggestion for improvement could be a drizzle of alternative butter seasoned perhaps with vegan Worcestershire sauce or garlic, adding a moisture and flavor boost to the steak.

Service was a tad sluggish and the wait staff was a bit young or green. I wouldn't say that this is a negative , matter of fact it was quite refreshing to see, but make sure you communicate everything clearly. Nonetheless, it was palatable and the efforts to cater to vegan patrons were admirable. The ambiance was welcoming, nestled between a casual and upscale setting, making it a comfortable bistro for a mid-journey meal.

Jasper's is a beacon for those in the vegan community looking for a welcoming dining atmosphere with a menu that attempts to cater to their dietary lifestyle. With a little tweak in service speed and some culinary creativity, it holds the promise of an exceptional dining experience for all.

Pros: Vegan-friendly menu with clear markings., Pleasant and diverse flavors in vegan options.

Cons: Service could be quicker., Main course could use a bit of re-imagination.

Surprisingly vegan friendly

I was surprised to discover that Jasper's catered for a plant based diet. There is a number of dishes on the menu that can be made fully vegan by substituting meat or dairy alternatives plus a couple of exclusively vegan items. This is marked very clearly on the menu.
I ordered the the home baked Mexican spiced chilli beans on sour doughbread. This normally served work creme fraiche and cheddar cheese but these were substitute with dairy free alternatives.
Service was a little slow and I felt my food could have been a little hotter but it was still very tasty.

Pros: Some vegan options, A number of dishes can be made vegan on request

Cons: Service is a little slow
