Really special - Edit
On our recent visit to Portland, our vegan family of four really enjoyed our dinner at Ichiza. The staff was so attentive, knowledgeable and friendly and the food (and tea) was delicious. It's a small and special place. We had the chili oil wontons, the cheung fun and the bean curd skin appetizers and the adobo and party pancit large bowls. Would order it all again.

So good - Edit
The waiter was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I got the pork/shrimp dumplings which were really good and the ramen bowl, not the spicy one and it was delicious and I got the fake egg in it which was so good!!! Two of my non vegan friends came with and loved what they got as well !

Disappointing - Edit
I was excited to go here but I thought the food was fairly bland and unhealthy. Very little veggies just lots of oil and imitation meats. Prices were also quite steep for what it was.

Cons: Unhealthy , Too much imitation meat, Not many veggie options

Fantastic Pan-Asian Food - Edit
There are some restaurants you go to and order the same things every time because they are the best dishes on the menu and the rest is just OK. Ichiza is not that place, in fact it’s kinda the opposite. The “problem” with Ichiza Kitchen is that everything is so delicious that I have to fight the temptation to order way more than I can eat.
Read moreWhen it comes to the starters, it’s hard to say no to the turnip cakes and bean curd skin rolls, but then there are those tasty shumai and gyoza. Sure, you could order all of them, but then you won’t have room for the entrees.
And you will definitely want to have room for those entrees. The chicken adobo has the perfect balance of salty and tangy flavor. And the noodles...the pancit or the Ichiza noodles. It’s hard to choose when you want both.
So maybe the best strategy is to go with several people and share so you get to taste a bit of everything. It’s a small space and they tend to be busy, even on weeknights, so there can be a wait sometimes. But don’t let that discourage you. The best things in life are worth waiting for. And this is some of the best eating in Portland, a city with lots of good eats.
Pros: Delicious pan Asian food, Friendly and helpful service, Fantastic tea selection

Vegan Pan-Asian Cuisine - Edit
Such an adorable little cafe that had all vegan food in the pan-Asian style. The food is happily edible by vegans, and it tries really hard.
Read moreThe prices are alright but portions are kind of small. The textures aren’t my favorite, but the flavors are good. The menu marks gluten free items.
Shumai, radish cake, bibimbap, wontons, noodle soup, gyoza and adobo chicken pretty much are the menu. They may run out of the egg or this that or the other, so just be understanding. Everyone is very nice here.
There’s an extensive selection of teas and some sake that is local.
Pros: All vegan, Some gluten free
Cons: Runs out of items

Hidden Gem - Edit
Wow! I am not a huge fan of noodles or Asian fare in general, but this place went a long way in changing my mind. I am so glad that my partner and I decided to check this place out after touring the City Rose Garden. The service, vibe, and food were all top notch. The food was scrumptious, and the presentation was beautiful. At first, I thought the portions were small and would not fill me up. I was completely wrong. My only complaint was that the air conditioning was not working so it was way too hot for my liking.

Exciting food - Edit
The food lived up to everybody else’s photos and reviews. It was unexpected and exciting, delicious and fresh. The service was impeccable. I liked the small restaurant setting because it enabled the staff to give real attention to detail. The noodle soup bowls are absolutely humongous. I could probably feed a family of four with mine! It was unfortunate that the Gyoza sold out as that is one of my favourite things at Japanese restaurants. Crispy cucumber turned out to be a great hit with my husband too. For me the highlight really was the mochi ice cream dessert! The price was very reasonable for everything too. I also definitely recommend the top shelf oolong tea.

Sugoi! Amazing! - Edit
This is the type of experience that would make me want to move to Portland. My husband thoroughly enjoyed our meal here. The shumai is something you have to order! I haven't had shumai as long as I've been veg (20+ years) and these were fantastic! I'm half Filipina and it was fun to see some Filipino food on the menu for people to try. There was butterfly flower tea with calamansi and even an adobo dish. My husband enjoyed their version. We also had the chili oil wontons. The Bibim Dangmyeon was a refreshing dish for a summer evening. Loved the Korean pear. Overall, if you enjoy Asian food and kind service, you will be so happy you ate there! Ichiza Kitchen is Ichiban!

We’ve eaten here twice, and were enchanted both times. Outstanding original flavors, wonderful staff, perfect presentation, and like most everything in Portland, really reasonably priced. Best vegan ramen ever, and don’t miss the mochi.

Everything in this cozy little restaurant was completely delicious. I would especially reccomend the dumplings, kimchi mungbean cakes, and the mochi plate for dessert. The broth in the Lan Zhou was amazing, non-vegan partner rated it as one of the best broths she’s ever had. This is great food.

Wonderful - Edit
Had the fortunate experience of dinner here. Ichiza is the zen principle of stopping to contemplate one’s path. We partook in Gaiwan Service and had a delicious tea, some cheung fun, ramen and Lan Zhou. I actually couldn’t believe it was vegan because the faux meat tastes so real. I highly recommend if you’re in Portland.

Nice options for small plates and big bowls. Portion is huge for tonkatsu ramen. The pork belly was too real and I couldn’t eat it. So that could be a good thing.

Hard to find, comfort, Asian food. - Edit
I was so excited when this cozy and comfortable Pan-Asian restaurant opened. I love coming here for Asian comfort foods that I've missed so much. There's big bowls of rice, noodles and soup along with dim sum style appetizers and gourmet teas. It's run by two amazing guys that really put their heart into the food and atmosphere.

Wonderful, authentic Japanese style dinning. Cute little place not much space but the music, food and service certainly make up for how tiny it is in there. Just amazing food and tea! Can’t wait to go back
