Good spot every now and then

Not the widest variety so not someplace I would dine at frequently but happy to come through periodically.

They messed up my banh mi and tried to pretend it wasn’t their fault

I ordered the vegan banh mi and they gave it to someone else and tried to give me the chicken. When I finally got the vegan one it was dry and clearly not a good effort

Pros: They have banh mi

Cons: They suck on service , They suck on making things right

Cute space with patio

Cute space with a collection of businesses and shared patio. Vegan items are clearly marked and dishes are easy to share.

Pros: Easy to read menu

Lots of great vegan options

Vietnamese place for pho to egg rolls and tofu dishes. the beef and rice dish was delicious. Impossible egg rolls were crisp and hearty. Highly recommend

Good for a few items

I had the vegan pho here a couple years ago and was not impressed. So many vegan versions of pho don't have the same spices as traditional broth and add too many random vegetables rather than substituting with mock meat. I really don't like steamed broccoli and carrots in my pho broth.

Anyway, I went back a few months ago in a pinch and their menu had expanded and I got the shaken tofu which was excellent and a good portion. I'm curious to try the vermicelli bowl after reading the other review here.

Outstanding Vietnamese Dishes

This bodega style restaurant stands in a row between two others, all of which have a holiday vibe to them when in full swing. You can get drinks from one place and food from another, and sit where you like under the canopy over the outside seating that spans all three. There’s always a happy vacation buzz surrounding the space. But that’s not the best thing about a meal at Friendship Kitchen, it’s the food. There are only about four vegan options but the two I’ve had are out of this world! The Shaken Tofu is sautéed sliced tofu with different kinds of thinly sliced onions slathered in a super flavorful chili sauce that packs a little heat. Served with plain white rice to slow the simmer. Really extraordinary flavors, truly unique. The impossible spring rolls must be tasted to be believed. Uncanny in their deliciousness. Cocktails are fantastic too. Eating here feels like a party. Can’t wait to try the pho and the bun.

Pros: Unique and expertly crafted flavors , Friendly staff, Fun vibe

Cons: Can get crowded so come at non peak hours , You may have to park a block away-see above

AMAZING mock meat and eggroll

I tried to order the pho, but they didn't have vegan broth. Which ended up being a blessing in disguise because what I did get was so good.

I ended up with the Abundance Bowl, which was vermicelli noodles with pickled vegetables, bean sprouts, and lightly steamed cucumber. The default protein was meat, but it was free to substitute with mock-meat. The eggroll it came with was vegan by default.

Everything about it was great.

The mock meat was called tofu skins, but it's not actually friend yuba. Regardless, it was great. Very chewable without being rubbery.

The eggroll was super crunchy and is made with Impossible meat by default.

Pros: Outdoor seating, Eggrolls vegan by default , Vegan meat substitute doesn't cost extra

Cons: Vegan broth is not always available
