Unreal ❤️

We had the chicken herb ramen bowl they split it for me and hubs. The chicken tasted like bbq chicken. We had the three little dumplings, chrysanthem tea pot and a piece of cheese cake. The whole meal was a work of art. We loved it. Can’t wait to return. The service was also excellent!

Pros: Everything vegan , Creative , Friendly

Awesome, totally vegan spot!

What an awesome little gem tucked-away in Goose Hollow. Food was absolutely spectacular, as was the service. It's a bit small and maybe slightly pricey, but it's worth the wait and the cost. Love it. Will be back again and again. A nice plus is that it's right next door to Vtopia, so you can go shop for vegan cheeses before or after your meal.

Pros: Everything is vegan and totally awesome

Cons: A little pricey, very limited seating.

Quali-tea food

A perfect blend of good food and experience. We put our name on the list and waited roughly 1.5 hours. Worth the wait. We ordered 3 dishes and some jasmine tea. The whole atmosphere and tea practice was integral to the meal. Everything tasted phenomenal and we left quite satisfied.

Pros: Tea, Taste

Cons: Long wait, No reservations

Unique experience

Brought non-vegan family here while I was visiting from out of state. The menu is short and has unique items, so maybe not good for picky eaters, but my family found things they enjoyed. Everything is brought out at once, so you order everything at once, and they will split the big bowls for you. We ordered a couple oolong teas and experienced the traditional gaiwan tea service (we had a blast trying to remember the waitress’ instructions for how to resteep our tea). We got a few appetizers - the cheung fun was my fave! And split the adobo bowl and the mapo tofu bowl between the four of us. One note for those sensitive to spice - the adobo bowl was promised not to be spicy, and although I didn’t think it was whatsoever, my family member thought it was too spicy to eat. Lastly, dessert was a beautifully arranged, crazy combo of ice cream, shaved ice, beans, coconut jellies, flowers, and more. (Also, bonus vegan cheese shop, Vtopia, next door!)

Pros: All vegan, Unique experience with unique food items, Amazing presentation and atmosphere

Cons: Not for picky eaters, Small, ~10 tables - might get busy

Amazing!

What a surprise! We usually hang out mostly on the east side of Portland but wanted to try some vegan on the west side. And this is the place to go! Best vegan salmon ever and the transformation of the butterfly lemonade awed is all!

Pros: Delicious all vegan food, Butterfly lemonade , come for early dinner at 3:30/4pm - no wait!

Cons: You will never forget this place

Incredible dishes, they blend ingredients exceptionally well, felt more like fine dining with their presentation and knowledge. Some of the best Japanese food I’ve had, I would definitely come back!

Pros: All vegan, Great knowledgeable staff, Attached to a vegan cheese shop!

Great experience, the food was a bit rich

An amazing place - the tea and sake were both absolutely excellent. The food was a bit rich for our taste. Also with noting it is more pan-Asian than Japanese.

Great Food, Great Atmosphere, outstanding service

Had an absolutely perfect dinner here tonite. Yes, you have to order everything at once (including drinks) Yes most of the food comes out at the same time. Yes, the food is absolutely visually stunning. And most importantly, Yes every bite was true love. Portion sizes are good, we stayed just with small dishes tonite but eager to go back for more. Great sake and really fun tea with tea service. Ichizawa Kitchen and Tea House are definitely not to be missed.

Pros: excellent food, friendly, knowledgeable staff

slightly disappointing

I was prepared to be blown away but was slightly disappointed.

Positives: The rabbit-shaped buns were cute. The chili wontons were tasty. The butterfly pea tea/(lemonade?) was good and not too sweet. The greens were good. Outside tables were nice.

Negatives: Inside was stuffy- we quickly moved outside. Guess we ordered wrong because almost everything (the bowls, the wontons, the spicy chili cucumber) had the same chili flavor. The bowl was pretty tasteless aside from the chili. The menu says you can only order once so we asked the waitress how much we should order and we ended up with literally double what we could eat for three people. Some got thrown away and I took some back to my hotel and tried to stuff it into the tiny minifridge, but some ended up going bad anyway. As a person who hates food waste this was really tough for me. I am sure they have their reasons but this just seems like it's going to create food waste if you don't live there and can't take things back with you.

I would recommend not ordering too much the first time and just going to Vtopia next door if you're still hungry after. I could have done with just the starters and it would have been enough.

The food is flavorful and well-presented, but takes a long time to get, so it’s cold.

skip the bowls and treat this like pan-asian tapas!

i've eaten here a few times and i have found the dishes to be a little inconsistent - sometimes they are transcendently delicious and sometimes pretty blah. the best i have done is when i order a bunch of the small plates and share with my dinner mates - that way if one of the dishes doesn't hit the right note for you, you haven't spent $16 on it! i really like a lot of their food and find it to be a great spot to eat. just watch out if you're going on a warm day because the dining room can get pretty stuffy! the very best is if you can snag one of the two tables outside.

Pros: delicious dumplings, very sweet staff

Cons: takes a long time, inconsistent, very small dining room

Fantastic pan-asian, great service

Ichiza seems like a very Japanese restaurant at first, with its aesthetic and presentation. But when you start looking at their menu, you realize it’s more pan-asian. You’ll find a lot of dim sum, but also a heavy Filipino influence with dishes like adobo and a couple Filipino desserts (halo halo, sapin sapin).

All of the food is incredibly well-made, and comes out all at once when you order (all at once is what ichiza means). Consequently it can take a bit for your food to come out, especially if it’s busy. It’s a small restaurant and there’s only about 6 tables worth of space.

Bonus is that it’s next to Vtopia, so you can grab some vegan cheese next door when you leave!

Pros: Variety of dishes

Cons: Small

Amazing and unique dishes

We ordered almost one of every small plate, mostly just to try as much as we could. Our favorites were the chili oil wontons (the sauce is very spicy), shumai which are like open faced dumplings with tapioca fish eggs (ikura), and the kimchi dumplings. The buns were a little off-putting because they’re shaped like actual bunnies 🤣😂 Everything was fantastic- highly recommend.

Interesting and delicious food

We had fun ordering unfamiliar things almost all of which were good. Mochi layered desert was unusual and delicious! Ma po tofu was spicy and tasty.

Pros: The food was very tasty, Unusual , Most amazing desert

Cons: Too salty, Spicy cucumber was just ok, A bit too oily

Good!

Most of the food we tried here was pretty good. Mapo tofu was delicious but unfortunately lacked the numbing spiciness the dish is known for. The chili oil wontons and turnip cake were very yummy. The ba wan buns were absolutely adorable, but a little disappointing. Described on the menu as a steam bun, I expected the lovely, bready, yeastiness of a typical "pork" bun, but the texture was gooey and gelatinous. To be fair, I confused ba wan with bao, so this disappointment is mostly on me -- though I do still think the buns were pretty skimpy on filling too. The butterfly pea tea drink we got was also very pretty but bland. Altogether, there were some disappointments, but they were made up for by other really delicious items, and I hope to come back someday and try some new things along with the items I enjoyed.

High quality food

I felt dishes are little costly(ramen $17-18, dumplings $6-8), but food was great I can’t deny! Also, ramen is huge. Don’t order too much😂

Another of the best of Portland

Everything here is outstanding. Another of my top Portland spots. The dim sum appetizer dumplings are all amazing and they make such a variety of them. Also love the adobo, ramen and well... everything. Also SUCH sweet and kind owners. Date night spot but also I kinda wanna come ALL the time.

Tiny but mighty!

We had lunch and just beat the crowd. Service was not fast compared to many restaurants, but given the size of the place, it was very efficient. We ordered the turnip cakes, shumai, and ramen with vegan egg. They have done a very effective job of capturing meat textures, some of which were pleasant and others a bit off-putting for me (especially the meat/fat in the ramen!), but this would be a great option for a recent convert missing those. Everything was wonderfully flavored and presented. The waiter asked if we were sharing, and as we were, they split the ramen between two, and they brought it out in two bowls, which was helpful.

Pros: Tasty options, Huge portions on the big bowls

Cons: Tiny space
