Simply the best - Edit
It's the saddest day when I go to Masaka and see a long line. But I get it. It's just the best ever. I'm most familiar with the karaage because I usually go for lunch, but their whole menu slaps. Can't go wrong.

All vegan (woot woot)!
Read moreSuper friendly staff. My partner has a nut allergy and they came out to confirm with us and give alternatives 💛
Overall, the food was okay. Maybe it was me just not feeling everything being fried, but I loved the white rice, spicy shrimp, and tempura green beans. All dishes served in small portions so you have to order a few to try.
Tried the karage, fried broccoli, fried mushrooms and spicy potato wedges too.
Pros: All vegan , Friendly staff
Cons: Cramped space/ hot inside

You HAVE to eat here - Edit
BEST vegan karage you'll have. We went at 12 when it opened and there was no queue. You have to get the lunch sets which was fine. We got the karage and dumpling set with teriyaki mayonnaise. Incredible flavour 10/10

Amazing Vegan Izakaya - Edit
We have visited this restaurant for lunch time. After waiting for like 20 minutes we finally had a table inside. I can highly recommend the fried Karaage. It was simply delicious, tasty and very rich in flavour. The Gyoza were very good too.

All vegan Izakaya-stlye restaurant - Edit
The restaurant is located in a shopping center. It is of course a great option to get typical Izakaya food in a completely vegan way. However, the atmosphere is not very inviting or cozy. There are various small dishes that are easy to share. Overall, the food was really salty, which unfortunately overpowered the other flavors. However I would definitely recommend the Karaage. I have rarely seen vegan 'chicken' that looked and tasted so authentic.

Favourite Meal in Japan - Edit
This was my favourite local meal in Japan, with brilliant flavours and options more than just the usual Japanese set menu.
Read moreWe went for lunch so there was a very limited menu, but the dinner menu seemed to have a lot more interesting options. Though the offset is that we didn’t have to wait to get a table. Still thoroughly enjoyed everything we ate and ordered seconds for it all. Very friendly staff too. Highly recommend.

Super fun junky dinner - Edit
I love izakaya because it lets you try a bunch of things without getting too full. I had an amazing izakaya experience in Kyoto last week so I wasn’t sure this place would hold a candle to that, but it did; it was just very different. The previous one I reviewed made for healthier izakaya, while this restaurant leaned into the junkiness. And honestly it was some of the best fried stuff I’ve had in a minute, so I’m glad I gave it a shot.
Read moreThe karaage is as good as everyone else says. I tried the Szechuan style and it was great. The fried miatake mushrooms were also phenomenal, and the grilled rice balls were great for sopping up sauce. To try to balance the meal a little better (lol) we also got two small salads (mizuna and radish) and the Chinese style cold tofu. Everything was excellent. My only disappointment was that I couldn’t try everything on the menu.
Lunch only allows you to choose a set meal of karaage, gyoza, a mix of the two, or mapo tofu. The karaage is so good I would definitely recommend lunch if you don’t want to wait for dinner, as there is often a wait for dinner (but I hear not as much for lunch).

Delicious! - Edit
We went for lunch and got the combo set with dumplings and karage, and the mapo tofu. Super tasty, even my omni wxfe thought the karage chicken was amazing! Only had to wait about 5 minutes for a seat and went about 2.45pm.

Bustling Vegan Restaurant - Edit
We waited for well over an hour to eat here, and were one of the last people to be seated. We saw people be turned away afterward, and so would recommend coming early to secure a spot.
Read moreIts easy to see why it's so popular, as the food was amazing. They were unfortunately out of rice, which would have been a nice accompaniment to their fried foods. The karaage was delicious - super flavourful, tender, and moist. We had 2 non-vegans dining with us who were equally impressed by the quality and taste of the meal.
One member of our party had a peanut allergy, and there are a few menu items that were not suitable. The chef came out and explained everything very clearly, and they were very accommodating.
Service was quite slow, which we didn't mind as the food was worth waiting for. They handed out free dumplings to everyone in the meantime which was a lovely gesture.
The restaurant was very small, which for me made it slightly uncomfortable. Great if you prefer a more intimate setting though.
Overall, would highly reccomend to anyone needing a hearty vegan meal.
Pros: Amazing, fresh food, Friendly, generous staff
Cons: Long wait time, Menu limited by the end of the night

Delicious Vegan Restaurant - Edit
We enjoyed this restaurant. We ordered the karaage terimayo (delicious and so meaty), the mapo tofu (delicious but not spicy as we wanted), the fried mushroom (it was crunchy, peppery, delicious), and the gyozas (were good). We would definitely come back to try the other karaage flavors. Note that this restaurant is underneath the street level, it is inside a food court underneath the ground, very cool location! We also arrived at 5:20pm and it was not crowded.

Hatten Karaage, waren okay, Konsistenz war sehr fleischähnlich, war aber schon zu authentisch. Brokkoli war sehr salzig, Pilze waren lecker.

This is a small café in a food hall that has multiple vegan options. It’s cheap and cheerful - just what you need when out shopping. The plates have ‘vegan’ printed on them, so you’re clear what you’re getting.
