We had the Tofu Briam and vegan Gyros. Both were really flavourful. Service was quick and friendly and the restaurant very very beautiful! ⭐️

I liked their vegan gyros and vegan Tzatziki very much, really tasty. Unfortunately I got only two small pita pockets and therefore If I hadn't eaten aperitifs i wouldn't be full.

Vegan Gyros – Underwhelming Experience - Edit
We visited Istros around 6 PM without a reservation and were seated right away. All of us ordered the vegan gyros, which unfortunately left us somewhat disappointed. The portion size felt quite small, especially considering the price, and the flavor didn’t really convince us.

The restaurant has an open layout and is located directly on the main street, which made the atmosphere very loud – conversations were often interrupted by motorcycles and beach buggies passing by. Overall, the experience felt overpriced for what was offered, and we wouldn’t rank it among the better vegan-friendly options.

I have a wonder meal here with my partner just a few days ago while on holiday. We did arrive without a reservation and has to wait as its a very popular restaurant. The staff were great and fitted us in without an issue when a table was free. To start we had hummus and pitta bread (Hummus in Greece is on a different level than we get in Ireland and I have been ruined by this). I had the vegan gyros and it was lovely (a lot better than I thought it would be) but my partner had the Imam Baldi (this was something on another level) it looked beautiful and tasted even better. Sadly I was too full with the starter and the main to order the vegan brownie cake (I plan to be back to other this with a coffee sometime).

What a beautiful setting and a vegan menu to top it off! All staff lovely too. We didn't book but you can in case it gets busy!

Excitingly, there was a vegan dessert so I had to try it. It was a vegan brownie cake and was really good.
They currently don't open on Sundays FYI.

Istros is a nice traditional Greek style restaurant with a good selection of very tasty vegan dishes, and a great service team. We were in Kos for 10 nights and ate here on 4 of them.

We had hummus, mushrooms with ouzo and fries as starters. Then we had the vegan gyros and the vegan risotto. My boyfriend is celiac and they were very attentive about all the dishes being gluten free as well (the gyros was brought without pita and fried onions for this reason). The brownie was really good as well (not gluten free)! Recommended

le crocchette composte da mix di formaggi vegani erano fenomenali, gli straccetti di gyros cotti perfettamente, per nulla indigesti e davvero buonissimi, la salsa tzatziki incantevole. Abbiamo fatto il bis dei piatti perché era tutto buono e fresco, perfino le patatine fritte erano di qualità. Finalmente un dolce a cioccolato ben composto e equilibrato.

Finally a vegan gyros!! - Edit
I can't remember the last time I had a gyros in Greece (probably 8-10 years ago!!) so it was so wonderful to have one again, but without the meat and cruelty!
Read moreVery delicious plate of food with a generous portion size. The vegan meat (soya?) could have done with even more seasoning, but the flavour was great. The vegan tzatziki was a highlight for me - so fresh and delicious!
The wedges were a nice alternative to chips, but they were rather basic and tasted like frozen oven potatoes.. I miss the days of freshly made potatoes and chips in Greece (most places seem to cut corners with frozen potato products now? So don't want to criticise this too much as they all seem to do it)
Will definitely come back to this restaurant as it was one of the best meals we've had so far.

Several vegan options, clearly labelled on the menu. We visited twice while staying in Kos and both times had super tasty food that was presented really well. Staff are amazing and so welcoming. Well worth a visit!

We went to this restaurant multiple times, because we loved the food and the people. The tofu souvlaki is out of this world, same goes for the vegan moussaka! We started our meal most of the time with the vegan greek salad, which was very good. We were sad to leave this place after our last dinner. When we walked out of the restaurant the owner ran towards us to personally thank us which was humbling. They definitely deserve 5 stars!!

We ate here three times during our holiday. The place is really pretty and the staff was very friendly and cheerful. They have a whole section of vegan dishes on their menu and also do individual changes for you. I can highly recommend the vegan jackfruit burger - so good!

A very nice restaurant that offers a separate vegan section on the menu with six vegan options including salad with vegan cheese, a beyond meat burger and Linguini. We have been a few times on holiday and have not been disappointed.
