Best Vegan Ramen in NYC - Edit
Dined here with my family, who all agreed this venue is a great addition to vegan food options in NYC. Menu now very clearly indicates what is vegan and what is vegetarian (all the ramens are vegan), and server was very knowledgeable about vegan, e.g. highlighting all the sauces that came with the vegan gyoza were also vegan. Highlights: the gyoza, the Plan-to and the Shojin ramens, and the chocolate mousse which was amazingly good and relatively light. Prices are not cheap, but also in line with top-notch ramen restaurants in the City. The space is also very nice, with a rotating selection of photo books to peruse, and a view of Brooklyn from the garage-door style windows. Also had a delicious oatmilk iced matcha latte. Good selection of sake as well. Highly recommended!

Ippudo V: Not Plant-based, Very Misleading - Edit
Ippudo V advertises itself as a "plant-based" restaurant, and I went there excited to try their "plant-based sushi." However, when I got there I was told that all sushi rolls have REAL mayo (made with eggs) on them. The waitress said NONE of their sushi is suitable for vegans. I have never seen a "plant-based" restaurant serve animal products, and this was incredibly disappointing (and a health hazard). The Brussels sprouts were ALSO covered in egg-based-mayo. Frustrated, I tried a vegan tofu sandwich and plant-based "pork" gyoza. Oddly, they have vegan mayo on the sandwich but refuse to use it in the sushi - so, in addition to being misleading, it's just terrible service. Honestly, the food was just average, expensive, and the whole experience was negative because I feel like this restaurant is lying to customers and misusing the "plant-based" description. I expect much better from Ippudo. This restaurant is just very frustrating, and I was nervous the whole time eating there because of the potential to accidentally be served the wrong mayo. I also didn't feel great after the meal. Did they accidentally serve me the real mayo? I'll never know. But I do know this: I won't return to Ippudo V until they remove all animal products from the menu. Currently this restaurant is just not worth the stress, frustration, and potential of accidentally eating eggs.

Omg what 💀 I was looking forward to going there for some ramen but now I guess I won’t be going after all. Reminds me of Kernel - started out so good and now they’re not even vegetarian anymore lol.

Pretty good - Edit
Broth was very flavorful, a bit too rich for me. The soy meat was delicious, but there wasn’t much of it. Too much cabbage in my opinion.
