Good for vegetarians (not really for vegans) - Edit
As a vegetarian I love this place, but it would be hard for vegans. The food is excellent though and they have two main buffets: one vegetarian and one with meat. The staff have always been friendly and there is plenty of parking. I wasn't impressed with the mango lassi, but otherwise, it's one of my favorite places in Montgomery.
Went to India Palace on 2 occasions on 2 consecutive weeks, both times for the ~$10 lunch buffet.
First experience: Pretty great. Seated right away, asked an employee about vegan options on the buffet. Of the ten-ish items, 3 were vegan (1 app and 2 entrees) and they brought me out an order of naan without butter at my request. I think there were an additional 2 dishes that were vegetarian. All the food was tasty, couldn't wait to come back. Only concern was some of the food didn't seem to be "at temperature" on the buffet.
Second experience: Less exciting. Asked an employee again, this one less successful at grasping the vegan/vegetarian concept. 2 vegan items (1 app/1 entree) and I'm not sure but they may have charged the table for the order of butter-less naan (the table was inexplicably charged $11 apiece on checkout, even though all signage said $10) If this had been my first experience I wouldn't have bothered going back (as a vegan, at least).
Food was good, omnivore coworkers all liked/loved it. Not very spicy, but that tends to happen on buffets. Authentic music, alright decor, very VERY highly rated on yelp, TripAdvisor and urbanspoon.
Loved their buffet sign: "Take all you want, but please eat all you take"
Found out this place uses "a small amount" of butter when they cook their rice. Very disappointed this was not mentioned on any of my previous trips. The only other rice option had chicken (or something) in it if I recall correctly. Rather upsetting. Turns out the $11 charge is for tax. This round again only had 1 vegan entree, and the same app as before. They did bring out an order of butterless naan for free though.
