Go here! - Edit
Wow wow wow! Impressive
Read moreLove it so much.
We went with a group and shared everything which was perfect!
We got
Banh Xeo (not on the menu every day)
Mushrooms mock meat and veggies on clay pot
Sizzling beef
Tofu in spicy lemongrass
Broken rice
Everything was bomb
I am super happy with the food here
Big venue as well
Way better than other vegan Viet places and not overcharging
Every dish is around 20-24$! Definitely a must in Melbourne. Nice tea
All my non vegan friends loved it too
Pros: Vegan mock meat , Price and value , Taste!!!

Easy Vegan in Richmond and Just Vegan in Sunshine are also delicious and super cheap.

Tasty Pho - Edit
Updated review from March 2024
Read moreWe love coming to Huong Viet and come pretty often. They have reliable delicious food that we don’t have to wait long for. Our favourites are spring rolls or mock Peking duck rolls for entree. For mains my favourite is the satay noodle salad with mock chicken (which has a good mix of veggies and mock meat) and the mock chicken is deliciously crispy.
There’s lots of indoor seating and we like sitting near the window to watch what’s going on in the street. There’s a big television on all the time which we would prefer not to have. Staff are friendly and willing to change mock meat to tofu as is my preference (except for the incredibly delicious crispy mock chicken mentioned above). There are sometimes minor issues (like forget to bring an extra glasses for water when another person arrives at table).
I would love it if there were more dishes with a mix of several vegetables and tofu (or the crispy mock chicken) as most of the dishes seem to have a lot of mock meat/tofu and minimal vegetable. There are a few dishes with just greens, but it would be great if there were more dishes with just vegetables but a mix of coloured/green vegetables.
Review from 2017:
I had pho which was tasty. I asked for just faux chicken (no other mock meats) in the soup as I don't like other kinds much and staff were happy to help. Most of the menu is vegan and service was quick. As others have said, the servings are large. I plan to go back and try more of the menu.

I loved the Pho - Edit
I got the combination meat pho.
Read moreVery flavourful broth, sweet, salty and sour, just the way I like it. Heaps of "meats" variety. Delicious.
I wish the US used the same type of noodles.

Something wrong - Edit
Yummy, but the wait was an hour for our food... They must have been down on staff or something last night, because normally isn't like that there. It would have been nice if they'd warned us when we rang ahead for a table, or before we ordered even. Noodle soup was good, and mock duck fried rice with Chinese broccoli 👍🏼

Nice place, good Vietnamese vegan food - Edit
Friendly and helpful staff. Supports special dietary requests (no onion / no garlic etc).
Read moreGreat food, tried the rice paper rolls (yummy lemongrass sauce that came with it), spring rolls and peking duck.
The spring rolls and peking duck were good but could have more accompanying salads.
Interesting snacks available for purchase at the counter. The fried spiced seaweed snack is delicious ($6 for a small zip lock bag).

Great food - Edit
100% vegan. Did not like the cold pork dish. Broth of the vegan pho was great, but one of the faux meats I didn’t like. Also enjoyed the duck pancakes (delicious) and a tasty noodle dish. Very nice food and you could easily pick something new every time!

Vegans and non vegans would love this - Edit
This was the first Vietnamese vegan restaurant we’ve been to since our arrival in Melbourne. Compared to Sydney, this is more expensive. The “seafood” style dishes like “bún riêu” and “bánh canh cua bò” would definitely suit the palates of those who enjoy the almost authentic aromas of vege “seafood”. If I was to come back, I would try their other food options on their huge menu.
Read morePros: Good food presentation , Close to the train station , Plenty of vegan options
Cons: Very expensive , Takeaway boxes are 50 cents

The duck! Vegan duck pancakes are so much fun! Always fresh delicious ingredients. Loving the vegan duck & rice with broccoli as well, but duck pancakes are the best. So quick as well.

Delicious and filling - Edit
I’ve eaten this restaurant’s food at a vegan market but I’ve never been to the restaurant before. You are seated and then you order at the counter. I ordered the wonton noodle soup. It was such a big bowl and I couldn’t finish it but it was delicious. I couldn’t eat anything else although I’d have loved. a smoothie.

Really nice food, super sweet staff! - Edit
I really enjoyed the food today, especially the salt and pepper tofu and the noodles, as well as the mixed veg dish. I didn’t care for the fried rice too much. Just personal taste. The staff lady that looked after us was so sweet and kind. The place was really nice and clean and had nice artwork. I’ll be back for sure!

Foremost - Edit
This was a regular haunt for me when I lived in the neighbourhood some time ago, although it’s changed then. Now both the menu and the space have expanded and there’s Supreme Master Ching Hai paraphernalia all over the shop. I’ve eaten here a couple of times since the new menu and have found it generally delicious, substantial and reasonably priced. Both the fish congee and the mushroom & mock meat congee were very tasty and came in large bowls. The stir fried noodles with Peking duck and smoked combination yellow noodles were both pretty good with mock meats of a reasonable quality. Only the “fun” fish and chips were a bit average: chips looking a bit tired and not that crisp. Now that I’ve been reintroduced I have to say this is the foremost casual dinner destination for vegans in Footscray.
