Long wait times, bad food and bad service.

I recently had a disappointing experience at Hunters Harvest in Seddon. It seems the ownership has changed, and unfortunately, the new management appears to lack the necessary skills to run a hospitality business effectively.

Upon arrival, I noticed that some of the large communal tables featured in many Google photos have been replaced with a row of refrigerated display cases that block the view of the street. These cases were dusty and held only a few drinks and snacks, serving little purpose since the main counter is located across the room. Inside, there were three people seated at the one remaining large table and three small vacant tables (for two) which were mostly covered with dirty dishes. There was one person seated outside, waiting for his meal.

The service was hindered by a significant language barrier; the cashier, whose first language was Vietnamese, struggled to communicate in English. It took about 10-15 minutes to place my order, which included some billing errors that I had to address. While she was friendly, it was clear she was stressed. I noticed the table of three nearby had left after asking for a refund due to their long wait for coffee, and the cashier mistakenly refunded someone else's card, causing further confusion. It took about 20 minutes before the customer asked for his two coffees to be made to take away, and he eventually left about 30 minutes later than he had intended.

About 45 minutes after I had placed my order, the couple who had ordered after me also expressed their frustration, and their meals arrived shortly after. I then saw the cook return from the supermarket with ingredients, including the tofu I had ordered as an add-on. Despite waiting an hour, my meal nor my iced chocolate had arrived. When my meal finally came out, the cook mentioned he was still preparing my egg, which I had paid an extra $6 for.

The meal itself was underwhelming. While the baby spinach, avocado, and cherry tomatoes were fresh, the brown rice was hard and unappetising - it was clearly overcooked. After a five-minute wait, my boiled egg and iced chocolate arrived—only to find that the iced chocolate was served without ice, making it lukewarm and quite unpleasant.

Given my experience, I cannot recommend Hunters Harvest unless you’re prepared for a long wait and a meal that doesn’t meet basic expectations.

To the new owners: It might be time to reassess your approach—this isn’t working.

Cons: Wait times, Service, Food - portion size for price, qualty.

Terrible customer service

I ordered dinner to eat in, paid, and sat down to wait for my meal. After waiting a while, they told me that I would have to take my meal as takeaway as they wanted to close early (40 minutes earlier than the advertised time). When I told them I would like a refund, they gave me back incorrect change and offered no apology whatsoever.

Pros: Nothing good to report

Cons: Poor customer service, Overpriced , Small portions

Delicious, healthy food

We went for a late Sunday lunch and had coffees, the mushroom bowl and the Hawaiian bowl with tofu. The Hawaiian bowl was amazing, really generous servings of veg, protein and sauces. Coffees were nice. There were some systems issues with our order not making it to the kitchen, which meant a 40 min wait for our food but despite that we’ll be back.

Pros: Great, varied and healthy vegan options, Generous servings, Good coffee

Cons: A tad pricey at approx $25 per bowl

Amazing nutritious food

What a cute place! I went for Sunday brunch but it was so empty, not sure why :(( I ordered the mushroom bowl and even though it’s not the cheapest vegan bowl I’ve ever had, the portion was huge and I left satisfied. There were so many elements to the bowl!!The coffee is tasty too(but very small lol)

Pros: Delicious!

Cons: Small coffees

New owners, but still lacking love.

Appalled that they served me beef with the tofu on the noodle bowl. Particularly after a discussion about checking if everything is vegan. They did replace my noodle dish, provide a refund and apologise.

Ordered cappuccinos and they served us lattes. Soy milk was not nice. Ordered spring rolls that was meant to come with lettuce, no lettuce but by this stage we'd given up pointing out anything else.

The noodles were bland and uninspired (and expensive at $17.50). The scrambled tofu I had on it was tasteless. There was nothing special about the spring rolls. The coffee was ok, but if you're a Melbourne coffee snob as I am, this may not be your destination.

You just get the feeling they lack love in their dishes and not a lot of vegan options on the menu, so wouldn't consider coming back.

They have new owners. I was influenced to 'give them another go'. A better experience, service was friendlier. More vegan items on the menu and in the sweets cabinet.
I had the roasted veg bowl with scrambled tofu. The tofu was really salty. The salad had a lot of lettuce, too much between the salad dressing and pickled beetroot, it was sadly so acidic I could not finish it.

Great potential, but I can't see myself going back given the food and also the price.

A worthwhile visit

Was expecting more vegan options in terms of the bowls but the smoothie I had called ‘all the berries’ was very nice

Pros: Very nice setting

Cons: Slightly overpriced , Needs more vegan bowl options
