Excellent food. We really enjoyed the shawarma and veggie toasted sandwich. Great to visit after the hot springs. Would recommend!

Enjoyable - Edit
August 2024
Read moreWe enjoyed a very good meal on our first visit after almost 5 years.
Middle Eastern shawarma - very tasty but could have done with some chips on the side
Sweet potato/lentil curry special - very good. Came with rice, flat bread and a little bit of rocket on the side.
A decent chai & dirty chai (off menu) for drinks.
Also bought a chocolate /strawberry muffin to go (no photo) - also good.
December 2019
The mac n cheese burger was not good; impossible to eat as a burger without wearing some of it and lacking in flavour. The nachos were good although I would prefer less cheese. The 'new' menu really only features a couple of new items when you take breakfast out of the equation, and when lunch is so limited, perhaps they should make breakfast available all day.
November (2) 2019
Had the Rainbow wrap and the tomato and pesto toastie. Both were reasonable although the wrap was a bit dry and could have used mayo. The peanut butter latte was interesting and the chocolate beetroot muffin, rich and moist
November (1) 2019
Both today's specials (Pumpkin soup and peanut curry) were enjoyable however the serving sizes were on the small size and probably not the best value.
October 2019
Tried the scrambled tofu today and it's probably one of the better ones out there. The roast vegetable Turkish was quite enjoyable but got a bit oily by the end. Also ordered a very good mocha and snickers latte. Looking forward to returning when the Spring menu is introduced.
May 2019
Well prepared and skillfully presented meals. The tofu satay bowl could have used more dressing as it became a little dry towards the end, but otherwise it was wholesome and tasty. We also enjoyed a very good nachos; I would have preferred less cheese but for most people it would have been just right.

Hunt it down - Edit
We had another try at having lunch here on a holiday weekend, having arrived last time to find them not serving lunch after they didn’t respond to my attempts to make a booking. When we arrived this time the cafe was absolutely packed and buzzing, with staff run off their feet. I ordered a large oat flattie which arrived quickly in an attractive ceramic vessel and was rich and satisfying. The two dishes we ordered for lunch were both very nice. The Summer Hollandayze consisted of toast, avo, delicious smoky bacon and perfectly tender asparagus, with hollandaise sauce complemented perfectly by a lemon wedge to cut through. Next was the loaded cheeseburger, which certainly was stacked. It was moist and tasty, with a nice bite from the pickle, but the patty, while pleasant in flavour, was very crumbly, with a cake-like texture, and rapidly disintegrated on contact with knife or teeth. This is a great brunch cafe, which as far as I know has always been vegan, and has managed to survive when others in inner-city areas have folded. For this reason it is precious and we need to support it as much as we can.

Didn't live up to the hype - Edit
I felt a bit underwhelmed by Hunter after all of the positive reviews and recommendations.
Read moreThe snickers latte was more akin to an ok hot chocolate with a hint of caramel (couldn't even taste the PB, perhaps the faintest hint), but the mug was cute.
The açaí smoothie was fine, but the açaí flavour wasn't very strong and felt a bit overshadowed by the other ingredients.
For food I ordered the cheezeburger, which tasted alright, the sauce on it was really nice. The patty however was very squishy, and all the filings were sticking quite far out so trying to eat it was difficult as it was just spilling and falling everywhere. The buns were a bit dry. I found it surprising that they used iceberg lettuce inside the burger (with a handful of rocket placed on the top of the burger) given the $18~ price point, which does not include any sides, just the burger.
The menu is quite limited, but it's nice that it's all vegan. Glad to support a local vegan business, but I'll skip it if I'm ever in the area again.
Pros: All vegan
Cons: Small menu

Hit and miss - Edit
Been there several times - nice place near rye back beach - some dishes are pretty good and others not so . Can’t understand why they just throw a handful of sad looking rocket on the side of dishes with no dressing or anything - why not just add a simple tasty ‘dressed’ side-salad that’s actually edible !

Cons: No proper side salad , No Gluten free wraps

Delicious option for the Mornington Peninsula - Edit
This place is conveniently located only a few minutes from the Mornington Peninsula Hot Springs, where we were planning to spend our day.
Read moreWe arrived at 1145, which ended up being a great time as they allowed us to order off both the breakfast menu (stops at 12) and lunch menu (starts at 12).
The schwarma bowl was absolutely delicious, fresh and aesthetically pleasing. The tzatziki was the best tasting one I've had, and the pickled zucchini? cucumber? was SO good. Everything just tasted so good together.
The pesto scramble tofu was very good too, slightly oily, but tasty from the semi-dried tomatoes and pesto. The coconut bacon didn't do much for me, it was just like coconut flakes, but my partner enjoyed it.
I also ordered the pizza bite from their food cabinet, it wasn't great, I wasn't really getting a pizza flavour.
The only annoying thing is that there is no online menu available on their social media.
Pros: delish schwarma bowl, friendly staff
Cons: no online menu available

I didn’t even notice the kitchen hours on the menu and was able to order from the breakfast menu not long after 12pm, but best not to test it I guess.

Interesting that they have three different types of bacon - coconut, tempeh and a proprietary - in three different dishes on the menu.

Don’t add feta - Edit
Cute cafe and the shawarma I ordered was yum. The mock meat inside was delicious, as was the wrap.
Read moreDon’t waste $4 by adding vegan feta. I did and when I couldn’t find any I asked a staff member if it had been forgotten. The kitchen staff insisted that it had been added and the staff member told me that the liquid white sauce (looked like tzatziki to me) was the feta. $4 is a lot of money to add a sauce. Especially disappointing as they were selling YAY! vegan feta in jars at the front, a delicious and textured feta that would have been worth $4 to add.

Delicious food - Edit
The food here is fantastic and flavorful. Forget about saying great "vegan food".... this is just excellent food - period - exclamation point, actually. I've tried most things on the menu, and everything I've had has been delicious. The staff is friendly and always smiling. The restaurant is clean with several tables inside and some outside. The portions are large, so the prices are great. I would suggest sharing one meal and perhaps have one of their yummy desserts.
