Good food! Give it a try! - Edit
Stopped here while visiting Savannah GA. It’s a small place that could easily be overlooked. Don’t drive by! It’s definitely worth the stop. We ordered mushroom burgers, impossible burgers and spaghetti. The vegetable sides were amazing! The best lima beans I’ve ever had.

Absolutely delicious, slap-your-mamma, vegan incredibleness - Edit
This right-off-the-highway restaurant was absolutely delightful start to finish. The staff were very friendly and happy to talk to us while our food was being made. They make fresh cold-pressed juices that are banging (I recommend the beet ginger one). The food was so good that my granny (rest her blessed soul) looked down on me as I ate these southern dishes and smiled. This slam-dunk, mmm-MMM deliciousness was 100/10 good. This is the review you've been looking for to tell you to eat here.
Read morePros: Lots of slam-dunk-delicous vegan options, Very friendly staff, Sharable meals that will please everyone
Cons: No cons, This is your sign to eat here, It's [censored] banging

Worth the Detour - Edit
We loved this place. The best part of The Hungry Vegan would be the owners and staff. They cook their food with love and serve you with love. The conversation alone was worth the detour, but man oh man the food 🤤. The flavors were amazing. True vegan soul food. This is the hidden gem in Savannah. My husband is not a vegan and would never give vegan food a try but he said we would stop here every time we travel down to Florida. Don’t be fooled by the ratings of other places stating they are the best in Savannah…we’ve been there too. Just try this place I promise it doesn’t disappoint at all. We have three days worth of food we took with us…that to me shows how good the food is.

The staff is warm and welcoming. The food is some of the best I’ve ever had. The macncheez….. i would never guess it was vegan and the bbq sauce that they use on the crispy cauliflower…. Addictive. I HIGHLY recommend!

Super tasty comfort soul food, found a little ways off the beaten track in Savannah. I got a few days’ worth of sodium, but I can always up my blood pressure medication if I have to. 4/5 highly recommend; would diabetes again!

You need to stop here! - Edit
Stopped at hungry vegan on my way into savannah and was blown away! The cauliflower wings were perfectly crispy and not overly greasy. And the sides were incredible. My favorites were the okra and greens. And the staff was very kind! Definitely worth a trip.

Excellent Soul Food - Edit
We had a yummy lunch! It’s so hard to find vegan food in the south and during this vacation our bodies were starved for veggies! Mac and cheese was sooooo good. The fried mushrooms and cauliflower were fantastic. I recommend getting the the ranch and Buffalo sauces for dipping! We’ll be back for sure.

Fresh food, great customer service, and very clean! - Edit
Everyone was friendly and answered my questions. She shared some cooking tips with me. The food…OMG!!!! The lemon pepper cauliflower was the bomb!!!!! Even when I warmed it back up (because I couldn’t eat it all) it was crispy and delicious. They have this okra concoction that was amazing. The cornbread was sooooooooo soft , fluffy and good. My husband and I ate our entire plate! You definitely get your money worth. The building was clean and the music playing was not loud but enough to make the environment welcoming and peaceful. Next time I am down from Macon…I will always stop by here!!!! The customer service and food is spectacular!!!!!!!🫶🏽💜

Love those Collards - Edit
Hungry vegan is off the beaten path, so unless you were looking for it, you might not find this gem of a restaurant. Everything was excellent! The decor is simple, decorated with pictures of animals, cows, pigs, and rabbits that you joyfully do not find on their menu. The menu was limited, but there was no difficulty finding something to eat. The fried cauliflower and fried oyster mushrooms were deep fried in a light batter, and not greasy at all. My meal included 4 side: the ochre was delicious, fresh and not slimy at all, the collard greens were amazing (I purchased an additional side order to go) Mac and cheese was good and the black eyed peas delicious. Unfortunately no brown rice offered, just white rice or regular spaghetti. Really good “down home cooking”, with warm and friendly staff. I was happy to see many of their customers were families, mothers with their children. No soda for sale; water, lemonade,(very sweet and not homemade) ice tea, sweetened and unsweetened but not even club soda, which is my go too.
Read moreVery reasonably priced. Really enjoyed this meal, best ochre I’ve had, and jamming collards.
Pros: Totally Vegan, Great vegetable side dishes, Warm and friendly staff

Delicious food made with love - Edit
I split the impossible burger (which came on a pretzel bun, yum) and the 3 veggies plate with fried cauliflower. Everything was delicious—the greens, the beans, the mac ‘n cheese, the burger, the cauliflower, all of it! Plus the staff are gracious and delightful, making for a great overall experience. Do not skip the cookies!

And the winner is… - Edit
I travel about 30 times a year and I’m always looking for the best vegan Soulfood. There is a place in Raleigh North Carolina that has amazing “chickin“ and waffles. Otherwise, there is no vegan soul food that has come close to the Hungry Vegan. As I was eating the food that was delivered, several (non vegan) people said they wanted some. If I lived in Savannah I think I would eat here every day.

So good it made me cry - Edit
If you haven’t been here then you need to drop what you are doing and go! By far the most amazing meal I’ve had, that I didn’t have to make myself. I had the big vegan soul plate with lions mane and it was divine! The Mac and cheese was gooey and by the far the best I’ve ever had. The cornbread was moist and super tasty. The lions mane were cooked to perfection. If I lived in Savannah I would live at this restaurant. Do yourself and favor and go!

Vegan Soul Food - Edit
Since I was walking, Hungry Vegan was a little bit of a hike from the tourist district, but it was worth it! The food was delicious. I had the Big Vegan Soul Food plate. The Mac and cheese was to die for! It was a ton of food. I had enough left over for dinner so $18 for two full meals was quite a bargain. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend.
