Raising the bar - Edit
This is a charming spot - in a cute upper courtyard balcony looking out over the city centre. It's especially nice when you want something a bit different from the typical Georgian dishes. The food is yummy - although not 5 star good (for example the hummus and salsa lacked salt).

As authentic as it gets - Edit
This place was amazing! The food was as close to what I've had in the Middle East as it can get and it's so nice to have some fresh variety here outside of Georgian food. It is heavy on the garlic, as is to be expected, but if you have a sensitivity to it, maybe ask to have them use a bit less.

Excellent Hummus and Tahini - Edit
Everything we had here was excellent, including the 'bruschetta' starter which was a novelty involving tahini, eggplant and spices on crunchy bread. Very high quality stuff, and the chef came out to chat – she is an energetic and fascinating person! Door is hidden in a courtyard across from the Metro station, don't miss it.

Nice atmosphere, okay food - Edit
The place is really nice and the service was great. The home made cold tea was really tasty. The lemon hummus was way too sour though and the food was overall okay but nothing special. For the price I expected more.

Heavenly hummus - Edit
Other reviewers said it already but it’s true, their hummus is one of the best I’ve tried, and I had many. It’s smooth and has strong tahini notes so it goes perfectly with fresh veggies and their pickled ones. Baked cauliflower is huge and delicious, their lentil soup is quite spicy. I drop by several times a week whenever I’m in Tbilisi. They definitely get difference between vegan and vegetarian and staff speaks English too.
Read moreThe place is a little expensive by Tbilisi standards but if you’re a tourist you’ll likely still find it cheap, plus it’s very cosy, view from the window is great, owners and staff are very friendly and they have good playlist.
And they will happily pack food to go in your containers!
Pros: Amazing hummus, Cozy quiet place, Nice staff

Best hummus - Edit
Like an other user already wrote: this place offers one of the best hummus I've ever had – very smooth with lots of tahin! Loved the way they served it with a good range of pickles and fresh bread. They also offer great red vine (even if that's not a rare thing in Georgia ;-)). Owner/waiter is English speaking and can help you with questions about the menu.

The food is pretty good, standard falafel and hummus. If you like Middle Eastern food you will not be disappointed but you won’t be wowed either. It’s quite pricey. The building and decor are wonderful and the staff very very friendly. Would go back for a quick lunch.

Nice oven-baked falafels - Edit
I eat falafels and hummus with mushrooms - did not really get the point of hummus + lemon sauce separate need, but after the owner told me, I think it was another kind of way and yep good.
Read moreFalafels are really yummy with some great greens.
Sadly place was a bit empty, hope they will have loads of clients in the future! The atmosphere was really beautiful and arty. ;) Owners are nice and happy!
Overall, if you take hummus and falafels then think again, cause there is too much tahini :D

Our Favourite Place toEat in Tbilisi - Edit
We loved the food in Georgia and as a vegan family always had great options. Hummusbar stood out for us and we loved the food, atmosphere and people. We would highly recommend visiting Hummusbar when in Tbilisi and wish they could start a branch in Edinburgh too.

Overpriced restaurant and not only vegetarian. No authentic falafel and hummus here! - Edit
I have been living in Georgia for more than 2 years and have heard that this restaurant would serve great hummus and falafel. And of course I had to go there.
Read moreHowever,
I was utterly disappointed over the rather tasteless hummus and GREEN falafel especially since the place is called HUMMUS BAR and almost only have hummus and falafel on the menu. It should be there speciality and even be special.
The hummus was simple tasteless. Probably there was tahini in it but they forgot garlic, lemon, salt and pepper.
There was also olive oil in it but I think of lower quality because you couldn’t real feel its taste. I buy better hummus in the supermarket in Sweden. Yes, I know that hummus can be made in different ways but I have eaten falafel and hummus at the best falafel places in Stockholm, Berlin, Paris, Amsterdam, Barcelona and Beirut. (You can look at some of my previous reviews here or at Tripadviser). I have a lot of experience of eating Lebanese and Middle East food, so this was a great disappointment. You would expect better because of the name of the place and when you read the reviews here.
It is also difficult to understand how you can fail with two such rather simple dishes. You can easily make tasty hummus and falafel at home (already mentioned most of the ingredients in this review).
I would rather recommend you to eat Hummus in the Holiday Inn hotel lounge or Hurma cafe. Nothing special but better than this plain and tasteless cream of chick peas and tahini. And cheaper! This place is really overpriced but it is probably a touristtrap.
Also I can recommend you to have hummus in Amber bar, which you could enjoy with nice QUERI wine (amber wine_).
The falafel was completely green. And tasteless. I believe they forgot some species or used bad or plain chic peas. For the record, falafel should be green inside but brown on the outside since they are supposed to be deep fried.
If you want good hummus and falafel, check out Moulin Electrique in old town. A real nice place with young Georgian Hipsters enjoying Czech beer, falafel, hummus and good Georgian food.
On the positive side: service is nice and the atmosphere is genuine.
However, if you have no experience of eating really good falafel and hummus, you could come here for the ambience.
I am concerned with the overall SUPER GOOD rating here and tripadviser. Who is posting it or is it just that you used to eat falafel in Kebab places???
Pros: neat atmosphere
Cons: not authentic falafel and hummus, not tasty at all, overpriced

We were there a few days ago and had the hummus with chickpeas and pita bread, baked falafel, the baked cauliflower (both with a great tahini-dip) and homemade juice. Everything was super delicious and the owners were pretty nice ! We had a great time there and would go back at any time.
