True Izakaya Experience - Edit
I came to try some vegan food since they closed later than other places (02:00am); beware trains stop around midnight depending on where you're going to. It's a short trip from Shinjuku so even though it looks a bit further away, it's easy and fast to get to from the centre.
Read moreThey only had Vegan menu on Mondays, and most of the time they didn't have dessert, but the food was great. I kept coming back every monday for about 6 months after I ate here, and they serve a variety of dishes from all over the world, but most of the time they serve tradional Japanese dishes. Every week its a different dish and they usually only have a single option, a set menu, of which you can also order any of its parts by itself such as just soup, salad, fried plate, etc, or all of it for the set. The izakaya also sometimes holds events such as a matcha event which had vegan matcha options. They also have a seperate drinks menu which is quite extensive, as it is a bar, but you can also request something and they'll try to make it. *A few of the drinks are made with soy milk which I am unsure is actually vegan or not*
In terms of the atmosphere, it's great, the place is frequented by locals, and gets crowdier during the night, especially on weekends. The people are very nice and will speak to you, many can also speak very good english.
Supposedly they also have a bakery owned by the same company, also located in Asagaya maybe 15 min walk from the izakaya, however I don't know much about it or its' vegan options since I've never been.
Would highly recommend this place for a great overall experience in Japan.
Pros: Tasty and Varied Food, Friendly People, English is well spoken by many
Cons: Only has Plant-based food on Mondays

Delicious plant-based food in a cozy and friendly atmosphere. - Edit
I went here with some friends for lunch on a Saturday and the food was absolutely delicious. I had the lunch plate and it was so healthy, flavourful, and filling. The owner is lovely too. She shared her story with us and I could feel the passion she put into making the dishes. I highly recommend to stop in if you're craving some delicious plant-based foods and a warm welcome from the owner.

Vegan Pop-up Kitchen in a small local Restaurant/Bar - Edit
Awesome Vegan Pop-Up kitchen for 3 days a week (Tuesday, Friday & Saturday) in a tiny local Restaurant & Bar called Sundal Kitchen, located on the 2nd floor of the building near Asagaya station. The restaurant itself offers meat and other meals, but there is a small section on the menu with Vegan choices of local Japanese food. The menu is in Japanese only, but the owner spoke English and explained very good 😊 We had the menu platter with all available choices and it was so delicious! The place is very cozy, really loved it! If you have the chance check it out, it is worth it!

Delicious lunch plate - Edit
A rare find in Asagaya! I enjoyed the lunch and soup set, there was a nice variety of flavours and a good amount of food for the price. My friend said the curry was delicious too! We didn’t try the drinks/desserts this time but I hope to in the future.
Read moreThe address listed is correct but the pin on the map is in the wrong place. I recommend pasting 阿佐谷南3-37-3 into google maps and navigating from there. It’s on the second floor, in a small cafe/bar called Sundal Kitchen
Update - it seems that it has been fixed and is in the right place now😄
