Hop in!

Vegan options tend to be first on the menu and are clearly marked. You can get both types of hoppers including string hoppers. Could have spice levels on the menu, but the staff were helpful.

Pros: Authentic Sri Lanka vegan options, Lots of choice and menu clearly marked, Relaxed atmosphere, quick service

Cons: No vegan desserts

Very Tasty and Plenty of Options

Accidentally stumbled across Hoppers and so glad we did! Lots of very tasty and clearly marked vegan and vegetarian options on the menu, and the perfect portion size and number of dishes to order multiple small plates/karis to share and sample. Very tasty drinks selection too. Really enjoyable atmosphere.

So tasty

I almost wish Hoppers weren’t as great as it is, to force me back to London’s independent South Asian restaurants, but it’s amazing so here I was again this week. There’s plenty for vegans, the menu is clearly marked and the staff are friendly and helpful always. Went in a group of 6 which is definitely the best way to try maximum dishes! Special shout out to the Aubergine and the Dahl, and to my colleagues who were amazed vegan food could be so good 😂 be sure to get plenty of hoppers and chutney too! We had a bottle of wine and plenty of food, the bill came to £33/head including service.

Great food

We had a super birthday meal at Hoppers. There were plenty of clearly marked vegan options - the aubergine and breadfruit karis were both full of flavour and perfectly portioned. The staff are friendly and very happy to explain and advise. Food is served very quickly too. Would definitely go again.

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Friendly staff, Lovely dining room

Cons: Staff very keen to clear away

Rice Rice Baby

An excellent modern place serving delicious Sri Lankan and Southern Indian style small plates and dosas known as “hoppers”. We ordered a couple of huge crisp podi dosas to accompany a breadfruit kari, an aubergine kari and a portion of rice. This wasn’t quite sufficient so we ordered another rice which turned out to be rather appropriate as we then headed off to The Emirates to see Declan Rice score for The Arsenal!!

Pros: Excellent food , VG labelled menu , Modern and efficient

Good portions and really tasty food

We ordered for delivery. Mushroom kothu was great, aubergine curry was good, dhal curry was OK but a bit bland. We had a bit of everything with some pilau rice and string hoppers.

Good food

The food was delicous. Unfortunately there is no vegan option for dessert and the service was not satisfying.

Few solid vegan options

Not spoilt for choice on the vegan side, but a few solid options. Portions are quite small, so if you have a big appetite might be worth getting one extra dish. Tasty food though, some amazing flavours going on.

Quick service, lots of options

Really struggled to decide what to have, and a waiter very kindly helped us out! The tamil aubergine kari was tasty (and pretty spicy) and dhal kari absolutely delicious. Would defo recommend getting a side of rice if you have a big appetite - I later ordered some, when I realised how quickly I was ploughing through the dosa

Hop to it!

No more vegan sidelining at Hoppers which has thankfully started marking vegan options at last. What's more, there are loads and it doesn't seem like you can make a bad choice although friendly staff will guide you if needed. BBQ Hispi Cabbage + Kiri Hodi delivers on smoky flavour in a rich coconut curry. Jackfruit + Mushroom Kothu Roti has something of the Pad Thai comfort food texture about it. Plantain + Moju Cutlets were the only item we ordered with much chilli heat to them. For the Ethiopian food fans, Hopper with Kale Mallung feels like a Sri Lankan version of Injera and Gomen Wat.

This is a welcome and reasonably priced addition to the patchy vegan Kings Cross dining scene. A great location opposite Granary Square with a stylish dining room and large, buzzy terrace with sunset view if you time it right. Exciting cocktails too. We were seated immediately as walk-ins on a Sunday evening.

Staff were not wearing face coverings in case this is a concern.
