Where is the flavour? - Edit
I'm a bit baffled how this place has a 4.5 rating with 400 reviews?!
Read moreThis is a sit down eatery, with both a Chinese and an English menu. It features sections such as soup noodles, dry noodle, rice and small plates, and there is black tea available to help yourself.
While the service was nice, the food was an immense let down. It all tastes very bland and lacks flavour. I was especially disappointed in the curry rice - I was expecting a rich sauce, but it's rice that comes in soup, yet nothing indicated it would come in a soup. This is a thin consistency, a pale, faded flavour with zero spiciness, and everything has been cooked within: the rice, mushrooms, cabbage and what other veg might be in there. This means that the rice has been overcooked and it's a mashy mess, and the vegetables have also lost all their crunch and any aromas they might have brought.
The stinky tofu is equally uninteresting, lacking flavour, and being barely 'stinky'.
Overall, I felt like I was having the quintessential 'old people food', no texture and no taste.
There is no toilet here.
Pros: Friendly staff, Free tea
Cons: No flavour, Mushy texture, Overcooked food

The BEST!!! - Edit
I’ve been going to this place for the past 9 years in Taipei and it’s absolutely amazing!!! The mother and her sons who own this warm restaurant are amazingly kind and friendly!! Food is spectacular!
Read moreMy favorite is the pumpkin soup, I usually don’t add any kind of noodles and it has lots of veggies! ♥️

Really Good - Edit
Really pleased i came here! had the noodle soup with braised vegetables. Also included mock meat, of which I wasn't sure what animal it was imitating, but it was nice, if a little chewy. Regardless, simple noodle dish that cost less than 4 dollars Australian and was filling and healthy. Complimentary tea, friendly service and a clean welcoming space. Will be back very shortly.

Cheap and tasty - Edit
Came here for dinner today and ordered what probably is the signature dish. It looked a bit like your ordinary Taiwanese bento, but it came with 7 small sides instead of the typical 3 or 4 ones. Everything was tasty, and with 80 NTD the portion was cheap for Taipei prices (I ordered some extra rice as I was super hungry which cost an additional 15 NTD but they even added some more veggies despite that I still had quite some left).

Pros: Cheap, nice alternative to veggy buffets, tasty

Great vegan food - Edit
Probably my favourite Lu Wei shop in Taipei. I'm not sure what he last poster was talking about; I've never had anything super oily there. The Ma jiang noodles are probably the best I've had. Staff have told me all the mock meats are 全素 (vegan) but even if you don't believe them there is a large selection of tofus, dou gan, and dou pi! These are whole soy foods so people should not be affraid to try these staples. You might have difficulty ordering if you don't speak or read any Chinese as there is no English. This may be where the last person ran into trouble.

So oily! - Edit
Both of my ordered dishes were so oily. I had noodles in oil and some oily fake meat which probably wasnt vegan too. It is hard to tell from their menu what is vegan or not but they use a lot of mock meat which is not vegan most of the time so I would not go to this restaurant again. I dont like oily food either

Cons: oily, not suitable for vegans
