Love the ice cream - Edit
Tasty ice cream. Healthy(ier) ingredients in the meals. Mac n cheese is good-doesn’t taste just like nutritional yeast. Even my non-vegan goddaughter ate it!

Nice takeout option while in Kutztown. We got tempeh Reuben sandwiches. I would have preferred rye bread to the hamburger bun, but it was satisfying, along with the included pickle and chips.

Read moreI think the best thing was the kimchi burger, some places make great food, but this burger makes me want to come back every weekend and eat it again. So much flavor in every bite.
The cheesesteak was good but I wasn't a fan of the tomato sauce on top. The Mac and cheese was good and light. I would consider it more a hawaiian Mac salad from a plated lunch. Than, good old 'Merican Mac and cheese, but honestly I'd eat it again.
Pros: Lots of vegan options, Outstanding burgers, Indoor seating

Worth the alley hopping - Edit
This little spot is certainly tucked in back there in Kutztown’s alleys behind the movie theater, making it a little awkward to find when you first discover the place. However, there is an actual lot that is shared with the dance studio that is used for Hive customers to park. My daughter and myself enjoyed having all the different options while we were out since this place really caters to the vegetarian and vegan community. (She still chose Mac and cheese 😜)… but it’s so nice to be able to walk out of a place not still feeling hungry.

Read moreLove it! The Mac and cheese was delicious. Our party also ordered a Reuben burger, red curry, and the squash fries (which happened to be zucchini when we were there).
Placed a second order for the oat milk ice cream to go in pints.
There was a wait and a larger crowd while there but no one minded waiting and the staff checked in on those waiting, passed out free cookies, and also gave my 3 year old an ice cream cone for being patient.
Place an order in advance on their website even if dining in. They are adjusting to being open and providing Togo orders and they still have some growing pains.

Worth the wait - Edit
A bit of a wait right now while they iron out the dine in and uptick in order volume. Definitely worth the wait, though. Vegan oatmilk ice cream and vegan Reuben burger, all very delicious. Local and sustainable throughout the establishment.

HIVE was one of my favorite places to eat at while I was a student at KU. I love that HIVE promotes organic, farm-to-table eating through their own food as well as the products they sell. The burgers and sweets are delicious. While I haven’t been to HIVE in a few years, I remember how much I loved going there. Great food & a comfortable atmosphere.

This place was so delicious!! I've lived 15 minutes away from this place for years and never even knew it was there. I found it on this site, tried it out, and I was so satisfied. Every single thing was extremely fresh, and the tempeh bacon was so good. If you're vegetarian or vegan I'd definitely check this place out!!!
