Mein Liebe - Edit
I've only ordered the same thing the few times I've gone (and the kartoffel cakes) but even so - I love the bread/cheese platter and overall concept of a vegan beergarden. Regrettably I haven't even gotten a beer here, yet.
Read moreGuaranteed I'm going to try EVERY plate from the menu asap.
It's been closed or overbooked for delivery during quarantine, so I really missed this place. I thought it would not make it but I've been wrong before. Looks like it's going to be packed daily since it's opening back up.
Pros: ALL-VEGAN
Cons: Only one exists

Bang for your buck - Edit
My husband and I visited this place on Labor Day night. We were pleasantly surprised about their hours. They do a virtual menu and the connection was very poor for us in the area, but we asked for the WiFi and were able to order in a jiffy. It was both our first times eating German food. My husband loves burgers and fries and this place was an automatic like for him. I really enjoyed the experience of navigating through the menu and choosing very different food from what we’d order at the many other vegan restaurants there are in OC, SD, and LA. I would go back with friends and/or family for the experience! I’m not a beer person at all, neither is he, we ordered the lighter beer and a grapefruit flavored one (both recs from someone who works there) our favorite was the grapefruit Schöfferhofer. Even the lighter beer was too much for us lol. The portions were SO big. We got a lot of food as we always do since portions are usually small, but man, these were great. Too much bread for what we’re used to in one sitting but still. The pretzel w beer sauce was very yummy, except too salty for me. Their mushroom sauce is TO DIE FOR. I liked how clean the place was and how new it looks. Really cool experience overall for both of us.

Sausage heaven - Edit
Whatever they’re putting in those sausages, it’s perfect. My girlfriend loved the gluten free beer and I loved the jalapeño cheddar brat. They don’t skimp on the sauerkraut and make sure you get extra mustard.

Great food, and items you likely won’t find elsewhere. - Edit
Hinterhof is definitely worth checking out. The pretzel with the vegan cheese is pricey, but damn is it good. I also tried the bratlinger and the schnitzel, both of which were great. As was the lime radler! It’s awesome that there’s an entirely vegan restaurant that serves German food, which is something I haven’t encountered much in Germany itself.

I think this is the only German vegan restaurant I know of. I just visited for the first time on Dec 23 2019. They had some great holiday specials. My wife had the sauerbraten off the holiday menu and I had the bratwurst off the regular menu. Both choices were excellent.

Brought back memories of Germany - Edit
I could not believe my luck to have an all vegan German beer garden open up nearby and serve all of my favorite traditional German food and beer! The bananweizen and the creamy sauce they serve with the french fries brought me right back to my time in Germany! Everything on the menu I’ve tried has just completely blown me out of the water. It is such a cute place for a date night. We often get Liam as our waiter and he is the best! He is attentive without hovering and actually knows the beers and makes great recommendations! I will be back here every chance I get!

Some of my favorite food ever - Edit
Been here a few times for brunch and dinner. The cheese platters are incredible! The pretzel French toast is amazing, so is the German and the American and the schnitzel and waffles! I brought my meat eating dad here who used to live in Germany and he said the breakfast was the best breakfast he has ever had ( that isn’t just something he says normally). The kaspatzle (don’t think that is spelled right) is so so good and all the salads, breads and pretzels are great. Atmosphere is lovely and so is the service!!

Can not say enough good about the food, atmosphere and service here!!!!
Read moreI’m German and this was like going down tastebuds memory lane. This place is not to me missed especially if your heritage is German and you don’t live here, which I don’t so we had a smorgasbord of the menu. Even met the owner who loves it when Germans come to eat here.
Pros: Large selection of vegan dishes, Ambiance , Authenticity
Cons: No place like this where I live. 😏

Unexplainable - Edit
I don’t think I’ve ever eaten at a German kitchen in the US before! This place defies explanation and I love it. No where on site does the signage or menu say it’s vegan but it is. I think another surprising thing is traditional German fare is so meat-heavy and just heavy heavy. So a vegan version of that? Still heavy! Lots of soy and gluten. Love it or leave it. The bratwurst and cutlet seemed under flavored to me. But there is one starter dish that is mostly fresh with picked veggies and cold potato salad and it rocks - best dish on the menu! Lots of options for beer enthusiasts. Love the indoor/outdoor seating. Will go back when German family from Michigan is in town.

The other reviews were so good!! - Edit
I never like to leave a bad review of an all vegan spot. But this place felt overpriced just for the sake of it. I was so excited that they had an option for GF vegan waffles... it was so crunchy that it hurt my mouth. One waffle for $16 with some berries and a little plop of coconut cream really didn’t impress. And my bf got the “omelet” which was just basically tofu mush- the texture was really off. In a city where the vegan food is getting so innovative, this place exemplified what non-vegans are scared of eating when they try vegan food. There was a nice vibe there though and we only got two things on the menu so maybe we will give a second chance based on all these other great reviews. Maybe.

So hard to find a good vegan restaurant that’s not Mexican or Asian. This breaks the mold. Unique and lots of flavor. I loved the jager schnitzel! If you like mushrooms and deep fried stuff.. OMG! Get it. Also I’m not a big beer drinker but I found a light beer that really went well with my dish. Forgot the name but the waiter recommended it, so just ask and you shall receive 😇

Awesome drink list of imported beers and sodas. Food is authentic and I love that all their meats are made in house. Mashed potatoes contain almond milk, myself and several friends are allergic, so good to ask! The curry ketchup is divine. The pretzels are incredible and served warm.
