Himaylan Soul Food - Edit
Himalayan Kitchen in Durango is a testament to what happens when you get it right—they understand that food is more than just a commodity. The service is sharp and no-nonsense. They’re there when you need them, gone when you don’t, and somehow, they make you feel like the only table in the room.
Read moreLet’s cut to the chase: the food. They aren’t playing around with flavors here. The spices don’t just wake up your taste buds—they grab them by the collar and make them pay attention. Each dish explores depth and contrast, where heat isn’t just about burn but about balance. There’s a complexity in how the spices unfold, layer after layer, like a well-told story that leaves you thinking about it long after it’s over.
For us vegans, the Himalayan Kitchen refuses to treat us like an afterthought. You’re not stuck with some half-hearted version of a dish stripped of its soul. Instead, they serve up something crafted with the same care and respect as everything else on the menu—no hollow replicas, just thoughtful, vibrant plates that stand on their own. They’ve taken the time to craft dishes that stand independently, full of vibrant flavors that don’t rely on meat to be memorable. There’s a clarity to the vegan options that shows they care about what they’re putting on the plate—thoughtful, deliberate, and packed with the same intensity as everything else on the menu.
Himalayan Kitchen isn’t just serving food; they’re making a statement. It’s about taking something familiar and making it extraordinary. It’s the kind of place that makes you forget about everything else, where the only thing that matters is the next bite. I’m not asking you to take my word for it. Go, taste for yourself, and feel that pull—the craving for just one more bite.
Pros: Flavor , Portions , Customer Service
Cons: Cannot give it Five Stars

Excellent. - Edit
Ate here a few weeks ago with my (vegetarian) wife. The menu was clear, service was great, and food was excellent. There was plenty of flavor and the food was a little spicy. If I am back in Durango, I will return.

Health Hazzard!!!!! beware - Edit
Please do not dine here!!!! I found a BIG POINTY PIECE in my food, the host was extremely rude and inconsiderate. I almost swallowed the pointy plastic, but managed to spit it out, she said the plastic is a piece fallen from their garlic container and it's ‘’’ok sweety’’ I found its from our container, and comes back and refills my bowl, I tell her we will not consume this food, then she immediately takes that food away. She refilled to show us rest is good, She said when you came here you were so happy, why are you upset, I told her because I was this close from a medical emergency and a choking hazard, she looks nervous and unapologetic and said she is the owner, what do you want me to do fire my chef, her attitude was despicable. I told her I will write a review and tell the customers to beware, she screams at me hoping this doesn't happen to you in real life, I tell her I hope you don't have to swallow plastic in real life, I was celebrating our kids graduation dinner. Extremely saddened by the service, treatment and unapologetic defensive nature. Please keep your families safe. I will report this further.

Solid vegan options - Edit
The menu has a vegan section with three options - Annapurna Tofu, Vegetable Curry and Aloo Gobi Tarkari. We were with a group and ordered all three. See pics. They were tasty.

Yummy lunch - Edit
We stopped her and enjoyed their outdoor/street side dining. We order samosa and split the veggie curry. Didn’t think to specify how hot, but it had a good after glow:) good service in a timely manor.

Great option in Durango with dedicated vegan options - Edit
The two entrees and appetizer we had were excellent. They have a dedicated section on the menu with four vegan options. We confirmed appetizer was vegan. Service was pretty slow, but it was also really busy when we arrived. Other people have commented it was pricey, but we thought the amount of food we got was good for the price.

Good food... But pricy - Edit
The food was rather good but for the price I do wish the servings were a bit bigger. I did go during COVID, so they did not have their buffet open, I suspect the value would have been better if they did.

Wonderful staff and delicious food - Edit
One of my all-time favorite Indian restaurants! The owners and staff are just lovely people, and very happy to accomodate vegans. There is a vegetarian section on the menu, and the vegan items are noted. There is a buffet that usually has several vegan items as well. One of the few places in this region I can get a consistently delicious meal that's reasonably priced and made/served with love!
Read morePros: has vegan items marked on menu, delicious food, incredibly sweet staff and owners
Cons: not all vegan, serves meat, does not serve brown rice
